It usually not a big deal on bronze but on Silver or Gold....screw that. If Im telling you a phantom is directly behind you, turn the **** around or run. Don't sit there and stabbed to death

I don't have a mic and besides, no one would like to hear my Finglish there. They should enable in game chat, though. Or quick chat like in C&C Renegade and pretty much every other FPS.

I'm tired of hearing people yawn... and their dogs bark... and don't even get me started on the reverb and kinetic mess... the xbox live mic system seems pretty horrible IMO... which is unfortunate because if it wasn't so annoying chat could potentially be useful.

Finglish is one of the best reasons to watch driver interviews.

I'll use my mic if no one minds me leaving it on. Push to talk is annoying and defeats the whole purpose.

The mic system is usually not bad, but I agree that the Kinect Chat mic should always be turned off.

Yes, it is very hard for me.

And that's not even sarcasm.

On silver or bronze, if all of the players are at least half decent, you don't really NEED a mic. Just watch your screen and pay attention to what the characters are calling out--they'll specifically warn about stuff like an Atlas or a Phantom or whatever.

Gold, I can see being a lot more difficult.

But I still wish there was text chat for those of us who don't have/can't use mics!

Most people on xbox have the worst mics ever or try to bump their terrible choice of music through the mic. Most mics get muted first thing.

Since there is a mapping option for "text chat" or something in the key bindings menu, I'm guessing it'll be a text chat in the final release.

While I can't speak to Xbox and Playstation people, I know I have to change several things in my mic settings (mainly sensitivity) to even get close to it working and I forget most of the time to do it before I start the game, so generally unless someone else speaks, I don't bother atm, but I'm also in the group of people who haven't done any golds yet. Only once so far has anyone spoken, and I actually had a great convo with that guy about sniper rifles and abilities and such.

Pretty much this. Or why not implement a common rose?

I'm on pc and I really wish there were better config options especially for bindings so you could do something like:
bind "F1" "say need help!"

But I guess that's just me being nostalgic -.-

TURN ON YOUR **** MIC!!!!!

I DON'T HAVE A ****ING MIC!!!!!

Besides, bronze is ****** easy and you don't need it at all on silver. I've tried gold only three times, got to wave 7 or 8, no one used mics.

Normally, I'm pretty chatty, but I've kept my mike on mute this week due to a chest cold.

While I can imagine its frustrating to those players that want to be over-controlling, mics aren't really needed when everyone is a decent player.

I could see using a mic to point out where they atlas spawned or give notification of turrets locations, but if you have people making requests that they need help with something, then that means that you got too far away from the group on your own.

Most of my games that are played through to extraction are done quietly by people that know what they should be doing. Somebody yelling, "Boom!" through the mic everytime they kill something isn't all that helpful.

I do just fine without a mic thanks. Let's stop being dramatic your only fighting AI not other real players so no real strategy is needed, just stay alive and revive your team when needed.

Seriously, do people not know what "co-op" stands for?

I've been through so many matches that are lucky to make it to wave 5 because NO ONE HAS THEIR FREAKIN' MICROPHONE TURNED ON TO FREAKIN' COMMUNICATE and... wait for it... COORDINATE!!!!!!!

God forbid you talk to people and tell them,

"Hey, there's a turret around that corner!"

"Look out for that Phantom behind you!"

"Don't shoot your rocket at that Atlas, I got it!"

"Please help me flank this Guardian!"

"Help me take out this Nemesis sniper!"

"I got the next terminal being hacked, cover me!"

Most people don't have mics and even if they do it would be an intrusion to privacy. By talking you can reveal your gender, age and country of origin.

That's why in every online game(except ME3) you have text chat and voice command system.

Well u can do silver without mic if you haver a goob team, but on gold? Its a better experience with the mic , and if you have to coordinate other squad members , you need it.

I have no problem playing without voice chat. Once you've made it all the way to extraction on both maps a few times, you know what to expect and really don't need a lot of discussion.

The worst is when you're playing with someone who just won't shut up. Yesterday I got teamed up with a couple of guys from Spain who seemed not to pause for air... yammered away through the entire mission. Made me wish for a friendly fire toggle.

Consider this: as much as I WANT TO CHAT with ppl - the game wont let me. At one time I communicate well, other no one hears me. Sometimes in the lobby it shows that my mic is off (red icon).
So, I suppose there is a problem with the demo. I communicate using my headset just fine through steam and the like...

Plus the text chat is OFF DAMMIT!

Who the heck are you and why should I be talking to you except via a text?

Anyway, about those lines you want people shouting at you, let's see...

1) What corner?  Who's you're character and where the heck are you?

2) Who the heck are you talking to?  So sudden;y everyone turns around or dashes like mad?  Yeah...no.

3) Wait...you 'got it?'  What, you got some magic bullet that does as much damage as my rocket?  Or are you shooting your own rocket it at for the points?  Yeah...no.

4) Who/Where are you and why can't you just stun-and-shoot?!?!  Why do you need me to stop what I'm doing so you can take down a single mid-teir baddy?

5) If I'm on your team I've already headshotted her.  Yes, my Infiltrator build is that good...seriously.

6)  You're character already shouts 'Cover Me!' when crouching to hack.

I use mic all the damn time. And i have only met 3-4 people in over hundreds of people i met in ME3 that actually answered back. They mostly listen to me (because of my sexy commanding tone) when i call strategies and stuff.

But it is annoying to not know if they actually got it or not. Sometimes you will see their character do a "ohh, thats right that sounds like a good plan" twitch towards what im saying. While the others are either muted or just retards. I have no idea in the last scenario.

I also dont understand people can be shy, thats maybe me. But this is the damn internet, if your voice sounds like nails on a chalk board, while the dogs bark in the background and you have interference that even a nuclear explosion will not be able to match. Then sure, be quiet.

And if you are a girl and afraid of internet monsters, then you can always mute and not accept their invites.

Cake!

When you are in the game, those comments will (even if not directed to you) make you watch your back an extra time, and will more than often save your life.

Yeah, look that's stupid. I often will say stuff like "Phantom coming up the back stairs" (on Firebase White) or "Turret took me down" when I die so someone coming into rez me doesn't run into fire.

If you don't like the comments I have to make, sure, there's always the mute option. I don't randomly chatter. I do feel like helping out my fellow players. I have done completely silent runs, I just prefer to actually, you know, co-operate.
