i have no idea what coop is, i only know that i play for my enjoyment and am not required to do anything. This is not competetive multiplayer, i dont care what you do, just handle me as a stupid bot.Yakko77 wrote...

I've been through so many matches that are lucky to make it to wave 5 because NO ONE HAS THEIR FREAKIN' MICROPHONE TURNED ON TO FREAKIN' COMMUNICATE and... wait for it... COORDINATE!!!!!!!

Got a new mic yesterday (broke old one, cord got caught and tugged too much), USB, works great.
However, I kinda have 2 settings. Utterly silent, and chatty cathy. With friends, I'll give all sorts of info, comments, etc. If it's too much I KNOW they'll tell me.
For random folks, I save it for short comments like "20 secs left, fall back to LZ," as I've seen people honestly lose track of the timer there, and I like xp.
Basically, I don't know you. I don't know how much information you want to be hearing from my nasally voice, so I save it for the really crucial stuff.

Maybe the OP doesnt not what Co op means it doesnt mean Use a Micro phone it means work together, which you can do with out one it can be a good addition but dont have to have one.
I only have a built in one for my laptop so i dont use it and im not buying one just to play games, ive played the multiplayer and in no way am i good at multiplayer games i just play for the fun. Some people take it really seriously but i dont but in gerneral i do my best to work with the people im with and normally get thru all the waves but then again i not played it past Bronze.
I proberly put off going up a level as you get to the people in my opinion who take a little to seriously and you end up with being called a noob and the likes while all im after is a bit of fun, and a change from the main game.
Anyways i will no doubt give the muliplayer a crack when i get my copy of the full game and folk are welcome to add me as friend on origin, same user name as here if there looking to have a bit of fun all i can say is all i can do is my best lol.

You only need mic on silver or gold.
Only if you or your team sucks. Just finished 2 succesful runthroughs of Gold this morning and nobody had mics (or perhaps they did but didn't use them) and it went great. Seriously people need to find another excuse.
This. So much this.
Mics help, it can't be denied but in no way it is required for a successful run even Gold.

Also can people not burp/whistle every 5 minutes or mute the mic or move the mic away from their mouth if they are going to. Seriously, burping helps nobody on Silver or Gold challenges. Whistling the theme to the A-Team once is hilarious, twice is mirthful, three times is... OH MY GOD I DIDN'T HEAR THE WHINE OF THE NEMESIS OR THE FOOTFALLS OF THAT ATLAS!
Yes to all of this and your other posts in this thread, batty.
And people, please refrain from announcing that you, "have to make poop" while we're all waiting in the lobby. If you do indeed, "have to make poop" just go do it and don't effing announce it like a five year old.

- Some folks won't talk because they don't want to be heard shouting at the screen by their family in the next room.
- Some folks (like me) tend to play in the wee small hours of the night, so I can't even have my TV speakers loud.
- Many folks simply do not own a microphone, a large majority of PS3 owners infact.
- Those that do fill the air with pointless noises and chatter to the point where you just mute the telly.
- That's if they're not rustling a sweetie packet against the mic the whole time.
- Some folks are hard of hearing due to a medical condition (I only have 1 good ear)
- Some folks don't even speak English. I once played with a chap who spoke Urdu to himself the whole time.
- Some folks are just plain shy and don't speak much.
- Some folks speak too quickly or too quietly, and some have heavy accents nobody understands.
- I really hate it when I'm hearing a constant echo of every slight noise throught the match because of feedback.
- I really can't understand anyone speaking 'elf' using the PS3's frequency modulator at all

God forbid you talk to people and tell them,
"Hey, there's a turret around that corner!"
"Look out for that Phantom behind you!"
"Don't shoot your rocket at that Atlas, I got it!"
"Please help me flank this Guardian!"
"Help me take out this Nemesis sniper!"
"I got the next terminal being hacked, cover me!"
IS IT SO HARD?!?!?!
Seriously, the number of people who are not mic'ed is just....
Seriously, no.
Seriously, I've cleared gold a number of times without using a mic. Seriously.

I don't use mics. I've gotten up to wave 10 on silver with no one communicating.
Knowing how to coordinate without saying a word>having to shout over a headset to get people to do things.
This is how it's done^ It's so much more satisfying being apart of a team that knows what they're doing, and are able to assess the situation. Then they adjust accordingly. (Me)

I too have made it to successful Full Extraction on Silver more times than I can remember. It took a while before I had my first successful run, but now folks seem to know what they're doing a bit more and teamwork seems a bit better in general most of the time.
If you can't do Gold, it's probably because either you aren't used to (or prepared for) it, or your teammates aren't. Once folks get more experienced, once you find folks that play properly and aren't selfish, lazy or ignore the objectives - Gold will surely become much more feasible as did Silver before it.

I probably don't sound that friendly when I think about it. I'm just focused. Plus I don't know anyone on XBL, so...yeah.
Anyone wants a non-mean, focused team player, shoot me a message. Otherwise, maybe I'll catch you on there possibly.

It's fine though, since I mostly play on Bronze and Silver and having voice communication isn't necessary to win (the only time I ever really need to say something is if there's an Engineer setting up a Turret and nobody's noticed him, or if there's a Phantom sneaking up on a teammate).
In my general experience, voice comms are a kind of hit or miss situation. For every team where it's a helpful tool to secure victory, you get those annoying jerks who play loud music through their mic non-stop through the entire match.

I only use my mic if I play with my brother and/or friends and even then we log on to our private TeamSpeak Server and disable incoming and outgoing voice chat in the game options.
