I imagine Patrick Stewart saying them, and any affirmation is always "Make it so."

lol  Number one?  I've never done this but I think I might try now, usually I just voice the lines in my head, but it might be cool if I do it out loud. Good idea!!

Great now I have that Captain Jean Luc Picard remix song stuck in my head Image IPB

I'll hire Gilbert Gottfreid to stand behind me and voice all the conversation options as I pick them.

I read them out loud when I am drunk. Hel, I love playing games while drunk.

I once thought this was a good idea, but I always end up just reading it silently. Let's face it, reading silently is sooooo much faster than trying to voice act it.

In fact, in games where the PC is voice acted (ie Mass Effect), I'll sometimes just fast forward conversations because I'll read them faster than they can speak. Don't get me wrong, I love the voice acting, but it's sorta hard to NOT read the dialogue when you see the words in bright colors across the bottom of the screen.

No, although sometimes when my man is playing a game, I will sing dialouge in his game when I'm playing my guitar and watching. He hates it :P

I imagine the way it would sound sometimes, but I don't read them aloud. I'm the only person who would be hearing it, after all, so it's not as if reading it aloud would really give me any sort of advantage. Sounds better in my head anyhow.

Of course, I don't talk to myself or laugh out loud when I read something funny either.

I used to do that. Then I turned 8. :P
Seriously though, I voice them all in my head. To get a feel for the tone.

If I'm alone I usually mouth them quietly. The rest of the time my roommate is usually around and I don't want to feel the burn of her stare at my back while I'm gaming. :)

Not really. If dialogue is accompanied by a voice then it is the accent of the voice I tie it to if/when further dialogue with the character is non-vocal. If it's purely text-based dialogue to begin with then I basically just read it.

Watch a war movie like Black Hawk Down then play you tend to read all the dialogue as shouting like theres bullets going past the PC's head

I've heard that people who compulsively read aloud may have comprehension difficulties they're not aware of, and that reading things outloud helps them to overcome this subconsciously.

Or. You could be a freak.

How about one of the actual voice actors playing the game doing this. Hearing their own voice in response with the appropriate character. Must be a bit surreal.

At least some of the voice actors will probably play the game.

The voices in my head do it for me.

Naw, I tend to read them with my character's voice in my head.

i read the lines as i were reading a book. Though i think it would be hillarious to start roleplaying the lines,

Yes I do it sometimes unless I play a character of the opposite sex.

Another "voice in my head" response here. That is, I sound it out in my mind as I read the dialogue. I don't hear my character speaking to me; much as that may enhance my gaming experience.

I would also have the "voice in my head" for most BioWare games up until the most recent ones. Lately the Bioware games have been fully voiced so I haven't had to.

Sometimes in games where I play as a "silent character" or a character with no voice acting (Half-life, Oblivion), I'll make remarks as if I was that character.

Man... my mother's husband moves his lips when he reads. It's the most annoying habit - especially if you're reading in the same room. The dude's wicked smart, has a master's degree, and is probably one of the most well-read people I've ever known. He's reading a different book every week. I asked him once, "Didn't the nuns beat that out when you were in Catholic school?"

He said it was a habit he picked up in high school just to spite the nuns, like being left-handed.

Still, this is the most annoying habit in the world. I'd rather hang out with a nose-picker.

LMAO. I thought I was the only one who does this! It make my wife just shake her head when she walks into my office/game room. But then again, she just shakes her head at a lot of thing I do.
