Sorry if this was brought up before.

Anyone else bothered by this? Default MaleShep is very detailed, up there in texture quality compared to the other main characters.

Default FemShep just looks... odd... from most angles. Like irregularly shaped freckled plastic. She stands out in a negative way, especially when standing beside other high-res characters.

Now don't get me wrong. I'm glad BioWare wanted to give FemShep a distinctive look. But I believe it could still use some in-game refinement.

I think part of it is the difficulty of making her hair seem... real. Or rather, as vibrant and detailed as it is on the cover art. The face itself is about as good as Sheploo's, I think.

Chris? I think tweeted in response about hi-res textures in the game and he said there will be. I think that maybe they took them out to make the demo smaller.

I hope so! The current FemShep looks like she's stuck in the Mass Effect 1 engine.

I'm sorry to say that default femshep looks a little too cartoonish for my tastes. There is a certain style to ME, yes, but she's looking like a early 20 year old. A hell of a lot younger than she should look.

I'm not really sure that applies in this case. The issue here isn't texture resolution as much as there just being an extreme lack of detail on her texture in general. If you look at the base texture itself, it doesn't have much detail besides painted on makeup and freckles. Even though it's all low resolution, you can tell that the clothing and such have a lot of details on them. Sheploo's face is extremely detailed, you can tell this even at low resolutions.

FemShep didn't get a face model scan, so her face was bascially created by someone from scratch. They didn't bother to give her detailed textures, they just left her smooth and plasticky because they very obviously didn't spend much time on her and they seem to not like giving FemShep any texture to her face (just look at the Beauty Contest Shepards, their faces were super smooth too, but at least those were drawings that didn't have to stand next to the super detailed companion characters). Her face in general looks very cartoonish and poorly proportioned, and the featurless texture compounds that fakeness.

THIS. Default FemShep needs some love! It's the final entry in her trilogy! The quality is nowhere near Sheploo's, face scan or not.

Default femShep now looks like a mutated Drag queen who was ran over by a truck loaded with toxic waste.

every female character in ME3 looks odd,  except for liara.

I so agree with this!!!!

I think they rushed her look, she looks nothing like the concept art which I actually liked.

Her face is just weird at angles, big face, wide cheek bones, too pouty lips, it bothers me sooo much!

Please Bioware fix her face, make her look like a real woman, not a mannequin. I was looking forward to using the new default but if she stays like this... no thanks.Posted Image

I just want her face texture and hairstyle for CC and I will make my own redheaded femshep *sigh*

The game went gold a while ago. No changes will be made now. Her face is pretty horrendous and I have to wonder what they were thinking. Just messing around with the sliders for a bit and then switching from the custom to the default shows how incredibly off the default looks.

I think the non-default femshep needs better textures too, especially texture #3. The freckles are very dark and stretched out in a pattern that encircles her nose tip. It's more noticeable on the tan skin tones. Aswll, the eyeshadow options (textures too?) are practically indistinguishable and I hope they are looked into.  Skin texture #1 and #3 looks like clay and her skin looks "rough" and patchy close up.

(And the hair... where are all the practical options like the simple bun or ponytail? The loose updos are impractical, the longer hairstyles aren't even tucked behind her ears, except for one and it looks like a wig. The short option on the right end of the slider clips all the time with her forehead even with 100 eyebrows and  0 brow and eye depth. The only practical options are the short wavy hair (which still looks too fancy) and the buzz cut. )

I think that ALL Shepards need the option for better face textures and different hairstyles.

Did you know that the first thing that people recognize about a face is hair color and style? The second thing people recognize is skin texture? If Shepard, even CC Shepard, doesn't have the ingredients to REALLY differenciate him/herself from other non-custom NPCs in the games, then fans aren't really getting to create the faces they want -- or even make truly unique Shepards.

Oh, and to counter the obvious retort about memory or whatever -- look at the modding community. When people put Ash's custom textures on Shepard...SHE LOOKS GREAT. When people put Jacob or Kaidens skin texture on...HE LOOKS GREAT.

The hairstyles are horrendous. Why are all the pulled back styles so puffy? She looks like a sister wife.

Yeah, I'm pretty meh about FemShep's look so I'm probably not going to play her. She looks way less detailed than Sheploo. Honestly they should have gone with a face model so she'd at least fit in with the rest of the characters.

But I agree -- all custom Shepards need better face textures. I've used Ashley's on one of my FemSheps once and the change was astonishing. I think custom created Shepards would look a lot more realistic with better textures.
