If you do discover that you're going to need to leave mid game, do you think you should stick around as long as possible, or quit immediately and leave the slot open for possible replacement?

leaving mid game because you die, it drops to 3 people or the team isnt l33t enough for you is not cool by any means.  But if something comes up in real life, its alright.  End of the day, its just a game and life comes first..  If your about to finish an extraction or mission,  or down to the last couple enemies, it'd be nice if you are able to finish out the wave, so the team doesnt have to start it over.

As far as possible replacements, i havent seen that happen much in the demo.  Hopefully a full game and larger playerbase will make it better about filling out short teams.

I guess i really have to ask the audience about this.  thoughts?

I've had quite a few games that people joined mid-game frequently, the problem is that it's down to luck if someone will enter or not.

I think your suggestion to stick it out to the end of the wave, if one is able, is excellent advice. It would be really frustrating to almost be finished and have all the major baddies down only to have to do it all over again with only three players.

-With the exception of Vanguards and Infiltrators, dont go running off by yourself. Your team is unable to help you, you'll more than likely die, and your unable to cover and assist your fellow players, who are counting on teamwork. Krogans, do your thing but dont get too far away, you're less able to escape than a vanguard or infiltrator if you get in trouble.

I personally prefer to have one guy watching my back at all times. It's very difficult as a Vanguard to be aware of his teammates in the fray of charging, especially during Nova spam. We must constantly re-acquire targets for our next charge, especially after a nova. To make sure we maintain our charge-dependent shield regeneration. This means if I charge into a group and my teammates turn to another section. I'm not likely going to realize it until I'm dead, or the group I'm fighting is dead.

This can be avoided with communication, so please: If you have a mic, use it.

Stick together on Silver and Gold difficulties instead of going to your own corners of the map.

It is perfectly fine if one can handle themselves, it makes the game easier, flanking enemies and shooting them in the back is a good idea.

If one person is unlocking (or whatever you want to call it) one of the 4 objectives you occasionally have to disarm, DO NOT JOIN IN, IT WON'T GO ANY FASTER.

99.9% sure on this one.

I've seen a few posts lately requesting that people not use kinect as a mic b/c it's causing an echo and annoying everyone. This does happen for some people but the kinect itself isn't the problem - it's not having your audio calibrated correctly.
So here's a tip to help my fellow kinect users...
When you do the audio calibration it will tell you to turn the volume up to a "loud but comfortable level". Ignore that - crank it to 11, hold your ears, and finish calibrating. When you turn it back down to a reasonable level, that echo should be cleared up.
Do your calibrations right, make Garrus proud, and don't be a vorcha with kinect!

I can't describe how annoying this is, especially when you gear up to take on silver or gold and 5 minutes into the game discover you're down to 2 people. It's a waste of equipment. Why start a game to quit not 5 minutes into it? If you don't think you have the time to play or that you won't be able to finish the game then please quit in the lobby so that people aren't wasting their equipment on a game they have little chance of finishing.

Also quitting on wave 9 or 10 is highly annoying, there's barely 5 minutes left in the game surely you can atleast see out one more wave.

[..] More importantly, you might be playing with children. Not everyone who loves mass effect is in their 20s.  I wouldnt want my kids learning new words for homosexuals and female anatomy playing a videogame, and it would royally suck if some kid had his game taken away because his parents heard a string of swearing coming through the TV.

Isn't ME an "adult" game? Posted Image

[edit] oh, and I don't see the problem of learning new words for homosexuals and female anatomy or anything of the sorts. When parents have no problems with their kids slaughtering hundreds of other human beings on screen, I fail to see the problem of name calling. But maybe Europeans have other priorities in that regard ;)

I have to agree, its a 17+ plus game! Stop letting your stupid kids play these games, teach them some real skills first and mabey by the time the get old enough to play they'll actually be of some use instead of running around derping it up.

Didn't like the 2-3 times my teammates died early on in a wave, only for me to complete it by myself to find out 2 of them quit in the 2-3 minutes it took me to clean up their mess. Posted Image
Stick around, people... be a good teammate. It's not about kills. It's all shared EXP and credits.

-This ones a personal suggestion, but if you have the choice between hanging back and saving yourself while multiple teamates are bleeding out by each other, or taking out that last phantom or atlas at the end of the round, be a sport and go for the self sacrifice.  Vanguards are great about this. (god bless those suicidal nuts) I just got impaled by a phantom raising up 2 squadies.  At least i died a hero :)

This is a bad suggestion. It's much better to let your squadmates bleed out than to die saving them and ending the match. If you save yourself and make it through then you all can keep playing and get more XP and credits.

Only half the point.  Some people don't like to hear it.  There are ladies who play, and I'll give you a hint - we don't like to hear you make up names for our parts.  Seriously.

Only time I leave a game is when I'm lagging so bad that I would just end up slowing down/hurting the team while being there.

If people would stop leaving before the game started that would be great. Seriously, finding a 4 player game is a nightmare for me. And I'm a high level so that's not the problem. I had 5 games in a row where someone just quit in the lobby. It's so frustrating.

-Get to the evac zone.   Its 3x more points for the team for a full extraction.

Getting to the landing zone is important, but don't camp out in it for the entire wave 11.  They're typically difficult to defend as enemies have several entry points, there is high ground all around them, and what cover there is generally only protects against enemies coming through one of the entry points so you're easily flanked.  Instead it's better to hold a defensible position that allows you to keep the LZ clear and fall back to the LZ at the 30 second mark or so.

Well if this Phantom or this Atlas is on its last bit of health yeah I can see your point but either way it might be safer to revive someone, if you die fighting this last enemy no one is going to rez you and it's all over.

Good tips, but the game is rated M for partial nudity and violence, among other things...kids shouldn't be playing it in the first place, and if they are...then hearing swear words shouldn't be considered that big of a deal.

I don't really swear that often, but when I come up against RNG and lose sometimes I let loose with a spectacular blue streak. I realize that some people may be offended, and so I tone it down...but that's different than the "you might be playing with kids" argument. I consider that one completely invalid, especially in a game that's rated mature for the reasons this one is.
