Duel wield Eagle brand Eagles!!!!oneoneone!111

But seriously the one class I can see have dual wielding would the adept with SMGs or the smaller pistols, and probably only through biotic hax! .

Well and the vanguard too, but they don't need another boost.

Let's be honest here, Mass Effect isn't about realism. It's a cineastic saga about transhuman heroism against seemingly insurmountable odds. The main character is capable of using telepathic abilities to fling people through a room, has beaten entire armies with a small squad of sidekicks and was revived after an orbital drop without a parachute. If the ME movie ever goes into filming, ManShep may as well be played by Bruce Willis or Sylvester Stallone.

All of the above is in no way meant to discredit the internal consistency of the setting itself, but it should be clear that there is ample room for the "rule of cool" to be applied to dual-wielding pistols just as much as it gets applied to a lot of other stuff already. Contemporary recoil dampening technology already allows people to hip-fire two fully-automatic cal .75 shotguns in dual-wield ... why should a fictional futuristic setting - that allows you to operate a large calibre anti-armour sniper rifle whilst standing up with no support whatsoever - impose any problems for handling two pistols?

Now, as for my personal opinion, I'm on the fence on whether I'd actually make use of such an option. Do I think it is needed? No, of course not. Would it be nice to have? Well, I might give it a try, though I'm still in love with the original M8 Avenger assault rifle from the very first game.
Either way - if some of you think it would suck, simply don't use them. Dual-wielding pistols is an established cliché of action movies and games.

So, in short: *shrugs * Why not?

12 yr old COD fanboys incoming!!!!!

No, just......... NO!

INFO: i never played either COD, nor Counterstrike (well i did play the first one for a few matches, but i never played source) etc. (i sometimes play UT if i need a multiplayer shooter - or some older battlefield titel....)

as for "12 year old" - double that please and add a 1 - then you have my age :(

so, will read the rest of the comments :)

as for aim: well it might suffer - a little....as for reload: yeah, that may take time (it does to in RL....but it would not with a system like the ME1 overheating instead of those clips...not that i hate those, i just liked the older system better)

as for powerfull: yes pistols are pretty good for DMG.....

still...i like dual-wielding (i like it with blades and other weapons in games like DA and guns like say max pain) it has "style"....somehow i wish that with two guns that you might be able to fire at two targets at the same time, but i agree that this might be unbalanced/unfair to classes that use a single weapon - wether that might be a shotgun or an assault- or sniper-rifle and i might not even be possible with keyboard/mouse or a controller (without having auto targeting)...well it was just a thought anyway (maybe this can be modded in?....just another thought (i do not know how hard modding a game (any game!) is))

so, as for not using it:

yeah, making it optional would be "cool"...as for "pistols do enough damage" - maybe one might get smaller pistoles (no "hand-cannons" but something like a 9-mil from today in comparison to a 45-caliber pistol (as an example of a hand-cannon that does exist today))

greetings LAX
ps: so again reading (had to get this out of my head first ^^)

Either this is a very successful trolling topic, or the OP is just too dumb to realize how recoil works.

Is this unfriendly bickering actually necessary? He made a suggestion that almost everyone here disagrees with, but did so in a polite and reasonable formulated way. No need for the old "CoD players are stupid and he's one of them" implications.

sorry for double post, but:

YES - i hate this mindless bickering (even when ideas/suggestions are not mine but those of other - reasonable - people that just thought they might have something worth our while...on that note: of course you can dissagree with an idea or statement, but you should respect other people and basic courtesy should be applied to any postings you make...i try it, too - sometimes i might be unfriendly if someone postes 10000-times the same stuff without listening etc. but that is seldom, not the rule)

ps: will read on now an edit that before last (before this one) posting to answer to people who actually contribute something to this (even if they are against it!)

It sounds like a fun addition provided accuracy, reload times, weight are all adjusted accordingly. Kinda like dual wield in KOTOR. It don't know if adding it will mess up existing weapon mechanics; it's not worth it if that's a problem. Another issue is that biotics and engineers need a free hand to use their skills, so dual wielding would most likely only benefit soldiers. It may be too much trouble for BW for too little reward.

recoil a problem?

i was talking of PISTOLS not dual-shotguns (and even that is possible as seen in the video posted by someone here earlier), or rifles of any kind....just pistols (yes: SMGs might be nice, too - but i dislike them in ME....to in-accurat (i like to "snipe" with my pistol....or taking it into "meele" range :) and there dual-wield would be better for me as it provides a better ROV and accuracy is no problem (if you shoot long range you should be able to holster one gun of course)....

and no, i do not troll - i was just thinking about this and so i was asking about it, as no one seemed to have asked about that before (i used the search function to check)

greetings LAX

There's a future appearane DLC pack that includes long male hairstyles and headbands. Creating a new maleshep named John with those new features unlocks the easter egg ability to dual wield Revenants.

How would you throw around biotic powers if both of your hands are occupied with overcompensation devices?

That was funny.
(I'm assuming "overcompensation device" isn't some ME lore reference that I'm just not aware of. )

over compensation...you should not project yourself on others (in this case: me)....xD ^^

an now keep the topic CLEAN....hell how i hate it when a community goes down the drain because there is no enforcement of basic courtesy etc. (like everybody can tell everybody else on the forum to "f*ck off* sorry, i hope this is not what bioware envisioned when they opened this up....*shakes his head*)

as for powers: in close combat (meele with gun use) i do seldomly use powers (they are in cooldown if meele happens - because otherwise they would prevent meele from taking place because i avoid it if possible) and secondly:

as far as i know a biotic - in theory - does not need his hands to "throw" a power, it's actually the mind of the biotic that shapes the biotic energy IMHO and the gesture is only there because they learn it that way (so IMHO a biotic should be able to use warp etc. without pointing his hand at target!)

another idea for that would be: as this would probably only be use for close-quarter combat, that powers are "disabled" while you use the second gun (i do not like it, but this might be the way to go if that were in the game....)

so, comments etc. please :)

greetings LAX
ps: so - only people who really have something to say (i will check back here - at least till the game is out and i vanish into the mass effect universe - at least twice a week and will report anyone who behaves like a schoolyard bully or trolls the forum!)

okay well let's say you have two guns and they run out of "ammo" well you would have to holster one to reload the other, THEN holster that one and reload the other. Now in terms of game-play that's gonna mean your not able to shoot for oh about 6 seconds or so. So your saying that is optimal for you? not to mention they would have to make it so you dont reholster the same gun over and over again.

Need a free hand for most of your powers(any tech or biotic power. Powers like concussive shot don't, but yeah).

I predict it will be the flagship combat feature of Mass Effect 4.

Edit: If you need to keep a free hand like Raltar suggests, then you will have a mechanical/biological third arm sprouting from the upper back that can act as that free hand. By the end of the game, you will have 7 more of such growths, and you will have become a doctor. You will be nicknamed something stupid, like "Doctor Octopus", and you will have to wear cool sunglasses to hide your cephalopod... iness... yeah.

Do you want to know why theres no duel wield? have you ever fired a gun in your life? because if you have, you would realize how stupid and unrealistic the concept is.

Aim would suffer much more than "a little" and the recoil is more than it seems in the movies (I've never fired a gun, but I have friends and family in the reserves that train with them). It's about as practical/useful as holding your gun sideways. Sacrificing accuracy in the name of style is never a smart move.

Also, even the pros need the sights to hit anything not right in front of them, something that you can't really do unless you alternate from one gun to the other, which defeats the purpose of dual-wielding.

In other words, there are no benefiets to dual wielding unless you're shooting point-blank.

That being said, this is a video game and you could come up with a number of "scientific" excuses whydual-wielding is a viable option (powered suits, aim assisting computers, etc).
It still bugs me though, about as much as the "gangsta sideways" gun

No, but I've watched Mythbusters, and they support your point quite nicely! ^_^

Firing a pistol while holding it horizontally is also very stupid. It's 110% gangstah, but only like 40% effective.

It's only good in Halo. Besides that (looking at you COD), it's out of place and really fake looking.
