Depends on the pistol. A regular person can very, very easily fire off a dozen .22 rounds from a pistol using only one hand and still be relatively accurate but if you tried that with anything larger than a 9mm you'd need a pretty damn strong hand.

.357's kick like nobody's business and .44 magnums are like hitting your hand with a hammer. I've never tried a .45 or a .50 calibur pistol before but I'd love to.

Truth is dual wielding like in the movies is far from realistically possible because of the recoil alone. SMGs of all types REQUIRE two hands to fire fully automatic because of muzzle climb but this is never addressed in movies or games.

@The OP, dualwielding wouldn't work in ME because it is a third person shooter with a heavy emphasis on aiming down the sights. In most games I've ever played that had dual wielding there was never an option to aim down the sights. Max Payne had a fixed aiming reticle and Halo was first person.

Gears of War has it apparently but I would argue that it doesn't have as much emphasis on aiming as the ME series. Much of the combat in Gears could be completed without aiming down the sights and simply using the relatively static default aiming reticle.

In ME most weapons are highly inaccurate if you don't aim first.
