Stop complainting about the DLC because no one is forcing you to buy the DLC.

Old invalid argument.
Given that if your paying $60 for a game you really want to play
but oh wait here is all this neat DLC
"that I need" to get "the full experience"
that I should have gotten in the first place without needing to invest $15-30 more into a game

Will we gripe about DLC always? yep!
Will we buy DLC? yep!

As weird as it sounds I'd rather pay for a $30 expansion at a later date

-Oh... Im sorry. Where was the library on Ilos? Or on the citadel? I mean the library of congress in the states is pretty big and even that doesnt have the full shenanigans on the history of the world. The codex entries I got in ME1 and ME2 were about a page of rather vague "we presume this, we presume that". No clear cut facts or written history in any complete or even fragmented form.

Was that a DLC I missed?

How can you expect to have a full library on an "extinct" race, that has been "extinct" for 50k years?
Again, if someone had played 1+2, they would know that they couldnt find an entire history.
If you have that much of a problem with it, blame the writers.

Beacons... Instead of recovering pointless insignias and mummified salarian corpses in ME1, searching for Beacons to understand the history of the Protheans and their ultimate defeat would have been much better (like in Halo CE Anniversary where they included Terminals that developed the story of the Forerunners and the circumstances that led to their destruction at the hands of the Flood).

Clearly DLC was much better when it was called expansions. Or just not included in the game period.

Not to say that there aren't issues with many current DLC models (I am looking at you, Bioware), but people act like DLC itself is the problem when it really isn't. There is nothing inherently wrong with DLC. In fact, DLC is quite likely a good thing.

This.

Yeap, this.

I already paid off part of my Collector's Edition but I will participate in the boycott by not extending my Old Republic game time.

Doesn't count. You have to actually not buy it. So get your money back, don't buy ME3, and don't resub to TOR. Thats a boycott. Yours is a "well hrrmmm I guess its okay that the game costs 1/4 more than it should I guess I'll pay it.."

Change is the only constant. Adapt or burn and die..

How much they are paying you to say that?

Also if they wanted to prevent used games, they just need to use the damn Origin.
Nothing else, no need for DLC,  now its just a sorry excuse to make a quick buck from suckers.

I understand that it might be too late to change anything anymore. Game went gold already. But if the DLC price would be cut to half, I'd be okay with it. Even better, if they integrated the DLC to the multiplayer online pass. So those who bought the game new and used the online pass would also get access to the DLC for free. Though I'm just wishing. It's not going to change. :/

DLC was better as an expansion because you are given a full and complete product at the start, and then after you had finished you were typically given another complete product. Now you are given a product, and here are some extras you can purchase. You can't sit there and tell me that it would be impossible for them to develop a game and then sell it, game companies have done it for a long time. What they do now is develop the game and then chop it up, hoping to maximise profit. Which is fine. It's also fine if I choose to not purchase it.

And Liara says she's spent 50 years studying the Protheans... how about we actually get the choice to ask her about what she's found?

It was great! Waiting for a lockdown now with the typical "You're going to miss a great game!"

Like you weren't going to miss it anyway if you didn't pay extra for large portions of it.

-Now Im really confused.

First you claim that if I am confused about any part of the prothean history, I should play the games in order. I thought I did that. I thought I only got fragmented facts from my Codex entries.

Now you claim that I cant expect to have a full library on an extinct race and that I cant find an entire history.

Would you care to make up your mind?

I never claimed that 1 and 2 had a full history.

Step 1: Play them in order.

Descy_ wrote...

(Where did I say that they have a full history in that post?)

Step 2: Figure out that there is no complete history on them, by playing 1+2.

Descy_ wrote...How can you expect to have a full library on an "extinct" race, that has been "extinct" for 50k years?

Step 3: With your newfound knowledge of there being no complete history, instead of wasting your time complaining about something in the history that wasnt explained yet, go and do something worthwhile.

Day 1 dlc is soo wrong. Trying to make more money from people that are most dedicated fans of Your games. You (EA, bioware) should be ashamed of yourself.

I wasn't going to purchase ME3 because of the Origins client, despite enjoying the first two games. For Bioware to be dictating what digital distribution network I have installed on my computer, especially after pre ordering the abominable signature edition of DA2; is an arrogant display of contempt for their customers.

This carving out sections of the game to pimp more versions of the expensive collectors edition, can only be expected. The only way to send out a clear signal to the developers/publishers is to boycott their product and hit them financially. Otherwise you'll be fobbed off with a few rote developer soundbites and the assurance that everything will be solved in forthcoming dlc's, expansions or the next game. Thus assuring them yet more sales.

As a consumer you have the right to express your distaste for a business and their practises, if they are not ethical then make your voice heard by protesting in the most effective manner.

So someone who just started the series a week before ME3's release is a "dedicated fan" too?

The most suggestive thing about the Protheans that Liara says is that her study of the Shadow Broker's data suggests he believed that the Protheans had "other plans" but then quickly dismisses it. Obviously something there, given that the Protheans are such a significant factor in the ME universe there's very little actual exploration about what much of it actually means other than the Beacons.

Wasted opportunities IMO. Closest thing we got in ME2 was the vision on Joab which showed the Protheans becoming Collectors, there should have been more stuff like that IMO.

Meh. Besides the fact I'm already getting the Collector's edition I don't much care that the Prothean is another 10 bucks.

Is it mildly annoying? Yes.

Will I probably get more entertainment value for it then when I go see a movie? Most likely.

This is the last installment of Shepard's story so I'm willing to pay for something like this. It's quite possible that they would have cut the Prothean entirely if they hadn't made him paid DLC. Something needs to pay for all the writing/design/and programing.

-I highlighted the central bit for you.  You claim that any part is readily available for undestanding. Geddit? If a segement is missing, then I cannot know all parts. As far as I know, most segments are missing.

With your newfound knowledge of there being no complete history, instead of wasting your time complaining about something in the history that wasnt explained yet, go and do something worthwhile.

-How about this:

You learn how to communicate factual information to others instead of spewing crap that you cannot back up by facts and have to be force fed later? That would be just aces. Thanks.

I need to pay? Yeah, I'm already paying 50$, why should I pay more for something that was in the game and only got cut out because of ****in greed?
