conceivably, anyone of ANY speices who is a mercenary and got a grant of "immunity" and believed it (or thought they could get thier money and escape) would be a candidate for cerberus. who might i add can afford them.

you forget- role-playing is based on a persons point of view, the vast majority of the galaxy in the me universe doesn't have the luxury of bedding the new shadowbroker.

as far as the average merc knows, they are working for some shady cahracters trying to get a nut to feed thier families or amass enough money to supply them with booze and ****** for the weekend.

I think that's probably overstating things. You can't prepare for every eventuality. They might be gas based life forms than could choke us all to death, but you're not going to provide everyone in the country gas masks and a vaccuum cleaner just in case we encounter such an alien.

But beside my point: We don't know. They might be like us, but we definitely cannot say they will be.

They didn't provide blueprints for everything we use - just the FTL drives (if even that).

Things based on mass effect technology:

FTL drives, Silaris armor, Cyclonic Barrier Technology, torpedoes, The Normandy's stealth drive, Drop Shuttle and mako tech, biotics,  Kinetic barriers and Mass accelerators (ie: guns).

Seriously, I could go on. That was one page of the wiki. About 75% of all technology in Mass Effect involves Mass Effect fields. You don't think that's mass effect technology?

Why? We've barely broken the surface of dimensional physics, we can't say with any certainty that life might not appear or adapt to extra dimensions. The possibilities are endless. This idea that every alien we might encounter will be basically the same meat sacks we see about the place on earth, with the same drives and emotions is ludicrous and limited.

The possibilities aren't endless. They will follow the same laws of physics like us because the laws of physics are friggen LAWS. Thermodynamics, entropy, matter-energy conservation, gravity, etc...those don't magicly vanish.

I like to think I'm both rational and have sound morals, but I made a Shepard who supported Cerberus anyway, just for another take on a fun game, and the playthrough was just as entertaining as my paragons. I even tried to get all of the aliens killed at the end, though Grunt, bada** that he is, survived. I don't think rationality and morals factors in much. Just another take on a fun game.

As I have said, the risk is in the fact that they are aware of the usage. Is it not outside of their plan and therfore, at best, little threat to them, at worst, detrimental. Those are merely examples of that fact, not raised to compare past benefits to gains.

You are taking technology used to overcome specific obstacles and suggesting that such a pattern would continue. You have no basis for that, beyond the decidedly meta knowledge that that is how stories tend to work.
