How Can a Rational Moral Person Still Support Cerberus?

the quarians are NOT the jews, so any attempt to bring real-world sympathy and hitler statements doesn't qualify.
miranda is based on a hot actress, said hot actress doesn't have an arnold shwarzenegger like jaw (80s version)- miranda does.
based on is not equal to.
conceivably, anyone of ANY speices who is a mercenary and got a grant of "immunity" and believed it (or thought they could get thier money and escape) would be a candidate for cerberus. who might i add can afford them.
you forget- role-playing is based on a persons point of view, the vast majority of the galaxy in the me universe doesn't have the luxury of bedding the new shadowbroker.
as far as the average merc knows, they are working for some shady cahracters trying to get a nut to feed thier families or amass enough money to supply them with booze and ****** for the weekend.

This. A thousand times this.
There is no proof that the base holds any new information.
After all this is not a reaper base...it is collector tech.

Oh really? The Protheans pulled a fast one on 'em.
At the end of the day Reapers are just machines and machines are easily controlled with the right tools.
Problem is we don't have the right tools...and TIM will never be the right person to wield them.
And who will be the right person? Who decides that?
And don't say Shepard.
Shepard.
Really anyone NOT the Illusive Man with the rationality and morality to make the right choice.

I think that's probably overstating things. You can't prepare for every eventuality. They might be gas based life forms than could choke us all to death, but you're not going to provide everyone in the country gas masks and a vaccuum cleaner just in case we encounter such an alien.Zkyire wrote...
We, whether it's in the ME universe or the real world, must always be prepared for whatever potential threats that may exist anywhere.
But beside my point: We don't know. They might be like us, but we definitely cannot say they will be.

How can they stop us researching into other areas? They can't.
They didn't provide blueprints for everything we use - just the FTL drives (if even that).
FTL drives, Silaris armor, Cyclonic Barrier Technology, torpedoes, The Normandy's stealth drive, Drop Shuttle and mako tech, biotics, Kinetic barriers and Mass accelerators (ie: guns).
Seriously, I could go on. That was one page of the wiki. About 75% of all technology in Mass Effect involves Mass Effect fields. You don't think that's mass effect technology?
Really? Knowing roughly were we might be is order out of chaos?Lotion Soronnar wrote...
Well, beign restricted to Mass Relays and the network IS imposing order to chaos.
They know exactly where to look and where we are.
That's pretty weak.
Because the times it's use (3?) has saved the galaxy has been in stopping elaborate plans. They don't need elaborate plans any more, they have brute force to bear. So previous examples aren't "proof" because the situation has changed. Confounding variables abound.Lotion Soronnar wrote...
It saved us 3 time, but now it won't..because you say so?
The Arca Monolith in Mass Effect: Evolution, Cerberus's husk experiments on Chasca, Dr. Qian's "artifact". All went swimmingly. It's only really blind luck Shepard et al were off the ship when the IFF ate the crew, so I'm not sure that can be held up as a flawless victory.Lotion Soronnar wrote...

Why? We've barely broken the surface of dimensional physics, we can't say with any certainty that life might not appear or adapt to extra dimensions. The possibilities are endless. This idea that every alien we might encounter will be basically the same meat sacks we see about the place on earth, with the same drives and emotions is ludicrous and limited.

I don't but honestly its easy we see what we wanna see and ignore what we don't its just part of being human. Honestly at this point in the universe we can only Hope for the best and prepare for the worst and try to ride it out to the best of our abilities. But that's just my opinion on things.

The reapers are coming. We must use any means to defend ourselves. That includes Cerberus.
I don't care if they are an army of geneticly engineered super Hitlers-Stalines-MaoZedongs. As long they fight the reapers I'd use anything and everything.

You are taking technology used to overcome specific obstacles and suggesting that such a pattern would continue. You have no basis for that, beyond the decidedly meta knowledge that that is how stories tend to work.
