I loved the Mako! I was expecting to be able to use it in ME3... :(

Getting to the Prothean Sphere on Eletania makes me swear at the screen every single time.

Haha, exactly! Also on the planet where you could find a Cerberus research facility regarding Thorians? There is one mining place at the Northwestern part and gosh it took me 15 minutes to manuver across the ridiculously high mountains... Kept cursing:pinched:

But I really enjoy Mako! As many have said, the issue is the terrain and mission design, not the Rhino itself....:wizard:

The mako is the mass effect equivalent of a horse from Skyrim.
And that's why I ****ing love it.

Not going to lie, when I saw this thread, I was kinda hoping that it was for Final Fantasy VII.

I like the Mako but I gotta admit the amount of planets you explore and how many times you gotta use it and for such minor things.. It gets a little tedious.. but the mako in general is fun!

Terrain issues aside, the Mako was so much fun to just drive around in randomly, careening off cliffs and "goomba stomping" geth armatures. In the last mission of ME3 I was so happy to see so many Makos driving around I just wished Shep could have driven one (although everyone else was probably relieved (s)he couldn't); and then a bunch of them got blown up, and I guess the people who hated the Mako were cheering at that, so... everyone's happy! Well played, Bioware.

I loved the Mako too. Lack of planet exploration really messes up the feel of subsequent Mass Effects for me. I mean, really, CDR Shepard and crew attack objectives on planets being dropped off in a barely armed shuttle on foot... or airdrop in a nearly indestructible future MOWAG platform vehicle and crash through defenses? I know which one feels "right" to me.

And come on, the climbing 89 degree slopes crap is blown WAY out of proportion. I replayed ME1 and ME2 back to back before starting ME3, and if you half pay attention to terrain to notice easier detours, there are only two–count 'em–TWO planets where you MUST scale an annoying cliff to reach something. All the others have paths cut through the mountains and alternate routes you can take which get you there much quicker than a direct over-the-mountains route. Just look at your map and be observant.

+1, agreed.  ME1 has an exploratory feel that ME2/ME3 largely lacked.  I sold my ME2/ME3 disks.  I still have ME1 & continue to enjoy playing it to this day.  I still think it captures the feel of an epic sci-fi adventure/mystery more than any other installment in the series, although they all have their pros/cons & I enjoyed ME2/ME3 too but for distinct reasons from ME1.  They are all different games, each with their own strengths/weaknesses but the Mako was a strength imo.

thanks & best regards,
Pedal2Metal

I have to say, in my first playthrough, I hated the Mako... But now that I've finished several playthroughs, I actually love that clunky vehicle^^ I just needed to get used to the controls and keep the booted foot off the gas *lol* Scaling mountains is fun to me, though I agree that the prothean ruin on Eletania is absolutely incoveniently placed... Took me ages to get up there *gg*

I actually miss the Mako, now that I'm stuck with the Hammerhead in ME2... I mean, you barely touch a pebble and the damn thing acts as if you've headed straight into a brick wall... At least the Mako could drive over everything it wanted (including Geth and pirates, I do so love to run them over^^) and seriously, the Hammerhead is easily twice as fast as the Mako and they expect it to handle better? In ME1 the Mako was difficult to master with the speed it had... It was a fridge on rollerskates, but it was a fun fridge on rollerskates^^ In all my playthroughs I only once managed to flip the thing so completely upside down that it got stuck (damn Thresher Maws *grr*) and I rarely totaled it^^ I remember my first run through Feros and I alternatively hated and loved the Mako during it^^

Anyway:

Mako: Fun fridge on rollerskates

Hammerhead: overpowered hovercraft that acts like a squirrel on Meth

My opinion is clear^^

Sincerely,

CarrionFowl

Yeah, because driving around in the Mako exploring planets makes sense while the Reapers are ravaging the galaxy.

That vid is awesome lol

Fridge on Rollerskates, like I said *gg* Still fun to drive fast over uneven terrain^^ I always imagine Garrus and Wrex in the backseats (or wherever they'd be seated in the Mako^^) with a couple of bags to puke in and constantly whining about Shepard's skill (or lack thereof) in driving the Mako *lol*

Shepard: If you two don't shut up now, I am turning the Mako around!

*laughing* Whenever you feel annoyed by the Mako's controls, just imagine that^^

Sincerely,

CarrionFowl

The Hammerhead would blowup just trying to take out a Cerberus Turret. Nothing destroys Geth Heretics better than a Mako. Mako forever.
