If one sentient race had to go extinct during the war with the Reapers, which would it be?

Quarians.

And to be honest, they really should have taken action in taking another homeworld BEFORE their whole race was confined to hazmat suits...

BSN says nasty things, but batarians follow through.

The Quarians. They might have a massive fleet (of incredibly decrepit ships from how Tali describes them), but they also tried to cover up their idiocy by trying to annihilate the Geth. It was not because they were scared of the Geth turning on them; simply freeing the Geth from servitude would've been enough, and any sentient race could see that. No, they were worried about the Council's reaction; in the end, their decision was actually the worst-case scenario: their worlds now under the control of their creations, and the revocation of the embassy ensuring they could not ask for aid in finding a new world to live on. Idiots.

Funny thing, if the Terminus Systems were around then, they could've just found a world there and settled before their immune systems became so fouled up. Again, idiots.

I think the Batarians will become extinct. Since Shepard had to sacrifice many Batarians to delay the Reapers, I think they might refuse any outside help and they'll be utterly destroyed. It would also serve as a message to the other sentient races of how much of a threat the Reapers are.

Even if they claimed a different homeworld, their weak immune systems would not allow them to live in the new world without their suits. Rannoch is the only world that is suitable for Quarians to live without suits.

The quarians colonized other worlds. Settlers would go through a state of mild illness, before their body adapted.
Tali quotes that in ME2.

As for what race should go extinct:

Batarians, Vorcha, Volus.

I don't want to see extinct:

Asari, Drell, Geth, Humans, Krogans, Quarians, Salarians, Turians.

Considering that a little over 99% of their entire population died the last time they fought the Geth, it's not remotely surprising. They're only going for it now because they're desperate.

I would have to say Batarians. They haven't really done much for the benefit of the galaxy.

You'll find me agreeing with your assessment. The galaxy has been saved AND the notorious slavers are gone? I'd call that a good day at the office.

The Reaper might have "reaped" Batarian space already seeing how they arrive on Earth with Cannibals.

The batarians won't go extinct because there are batarian colonies in the Terminus Systems, just like there are non-Alliance human colonies there. Khar'Shan's probably toast though.

Batarians. Also, the Hanar. They don't even contribute to galactic society. They can't even field their own army. They use the Drell. At least the Volus are important because of their financial capabilities.
