This. Even though i would love to play one, they are rare and are usually officers of the krogan military. They are not some random soldier they would send on a near suicidal mission with 3 other people.

But aren't Asari Justicars a rare breed too?

But yet they have asari justicar in multi-player and those are probably more rare, even rarer outside asari space.

Actually, I think the krogan sentinel makes sense as a battlemaster. Wrex was only a sort-of vanguard in ME1. The ME2/ME3 vanguard is a glass cannon which does not make sense for krogans. Sentinels, being tanks do. Also, battlemasters are described in the codex as being methodical; they are not berserkers like regular krogan.

I thought we fought one in ME1 or was that some other type of Krogan? I know there are several mentioned.

"Rare" on a galactic scale is a very subjective term.

if a krogan performed a charge the galaxy would probably collapse. i mean think of all the mass involved

I bet there will be a Kroyal Vanguard with Nova instead of Charge. I hope so at least. Nova seems super fitting.

There can be only one Krogan Vanguard in the mass effect universe at any time and his name is Wrex. If there was more than one the galaxy would explode from sheer awesomeness!! Now look at Wrex and be jealous your Krogan will never be as awesome as him:devil:

This one thinks the lack of Krogan vanguard is really really strange, since you know. Them ost famous krogan is a vanguard.

The contrast is that, in MP, we're not playing galactic legends.

Since we're talking strictly from a lore standpoint, let me counter the most of these points by asking, how many Krogan did you see tossing biotic abilities around? And, of them, what was their rank and stature?

If you noticed, go back and look again, the chief examples of biotic Krogan are the battlemasters, which are the leaders of the culture. Wrex, even while on Shepard's team in ME1, was still already a leader of his people and several centuries older than the tank-bred, the mercenaries, and Saren's army, which I would assume actually is the rank of Krogan that the ME3 Spec Ops group would come from. The other example is the "boss" from Mordin's loyalty quest, who uses Barrier and I think tosses a few Throws around. But that's really about it.

And as for Barrier...Krogan Soldier has Fortification. Same thing, different skin.

There are several Blood Pack battlemasters: a battlemaster in Jack's loyalty mission, Clan Weyrloc's leader, the boss in Liara's recruitment in ME1, and a few nameless Battlemasters as well. Anyway, I get that they're rare--maybe they could be some kind of prestige class added to the game later...ie max out all the other classes to unlock it or something.

Why does nobody think that the big ol' space to the right of the 4th character for each of the classes - a space just big enough to fit yet another character they're saving for the full game - will actually turn out be just that? That's surely the impression I got...

I fully expect to see a Krogan Vanguard in the final game. Asari Sentinel, Salarian Soldier, you name it. Could be wrong but something tells me this isn't all.

You know how much the demo pissed me off with that scene, Wrex is ready to go... but he get's sidelined from the misson... makes me think he does have charge, he'd just break the game...

Why do i now get the feeling 80% of Me3's story is just gonna be sideling characters that would make the mission easier for contrived reasons?

Here's the thing with prestige/legendary classes: they stop being legendary/awesome when everyone has one.

I'd rather Krogan Battlemasters be like Krogan Scientists, I don't want to see one every match, being possibly played by players who aren't that good, which ruins my idea of Krogan Battlemasters being b*lls awesome and only killable by greater legends, like Shepard. I don't want to have to revive one every two waves because he unlocked the legendary class and doesn't know how to use it, or suddenly thinks he's God. Get what I'm saying?

Actually, for all intents and purposes, not the same thing this time around. Barrier is going to have a detonation effect similar to that of Lift Grenades, which is a pretty far cry from Fortification's melee damage increase upon detonation, even if both might lend themselves equally well to typical Krogan-esque playstyles.

I think a Krogan Vanguard with Barrier, Nova and one of the crappy Combat powers I can ignore would be an awesome addition. And I guess there's a chance Nova only runs off Barriers (not shields, armor, etc) since it's a Vanguard exclusive, and Barrier would affect it whereas Fortification would add nothing to the table for it. Possible.

There is a very conspicuous space to the right of the 4th character in each class, where presumably a bonus race for each class will be added in the future. If the bonus Vanguard race ain't krogan, I'll eat my socks.

Yeeah, but Nova kills your shields, and without Biotic Charge to immediately bring them back up...know what I'm saying? Nova could work, but without B.Charge it's just kind of a stupid ability to have.

If Barrier has that effect, sure, that would be kind of cool. But I really don't like the idea of a Krogan with B.Charge. It just feels weird. But if they had Barrier, Carnage,  and either Warp, Pull, or Throw, that would be kind of awesome.

Biotics are supposed to be super rare in Krogans. They 'have' a Biotic using Krogan (who, for some reason in the base kit has no biotics). Sentinel is supposed to be your Battlemaster equivalent, not Vanguard.

Now if we get access to other 'kits' or get the ability to customize are kits, I will be a VERY happy Sentinel Krogan. Make my self a proper Wrex-like rager, with Tech Armor.

-edit-
I want Tech Armor and Reave/Throw or Warp/Throw. Though Lift Grenade and Throw would be awesome as the grenades have no cooldowna nd you could make Throw have no cooldown on a biotic detonation that would cause. Would be a fun combo for a heavy weapon build.

You know what? For some reason I'm thinking Barrier would recharge your shields (ahem, barriers) upon activation, but that's probably not the case. If it WERE, that'd be a sweet build.

Even so, can't Krogan regen their shields faster than most races and there's always the Nova evolutions that give it a 25% chance of not depleting your Barrier and let it only use half your barriers for half impact/damage.

Maybe if the Krogan Vanguard's Rage/Fitness skill let you recharge shields after a heavy melee kill or something too? Would probably be OP though.

Nova's such a cool power and would fit so well with an absolute beast of a build like a Krogan Vanguard. It'd be a waste and a shame if Bioware didn't find SOME way to make it work without having to depend so heavily on Charge.

Think about the fairness of it all. After all, what Cerberus Assault Force would stand up to a Krogan charging around the battle field in a blink of the eye, headbutting everything in sight. It just wouldn't be fair, I tell you.

Awesome, yes. Above Epic, yes. Fair, no.

I think it was through in-game dialog with Wrex in ME1 where he was labeled as "the last true Krogan Battlemaster". So if Wrex is the last, how can there be more?

But aren't Asari Justicars a rare breed too?

Which is why the Consistency Crowd is hoping that the devs rename her to Asari Commando.

Justicars are not only extremely rare, they usually don't even leave Asari space and have no experience working in a military structure.
