Anyway, what I actually wanted to say is that consoles are not necessarily that much cheaper than PCs. Admittedly they are much cheaper than buying a decent gaming rig, but when you think about it the games are twice as expensive. While you can resell them for a decent amount, if you, like me, actually likes keeping all your games, particularly for sentimental value, the PC games come out ahead. Plus a PC can actually be used for things other than gaming and surfing the web. I have always been a supporter of the PC over consoles for a variety of personal reasons, but I can accept that the both have their pros and cons. I have always felt that RPGs and Strategy games belong on the PC, while games like Soul Calibur belong on consoles. The feel of the platform lends itself to certain types of games.

PC gaming needs a miracle to return to it's glory days. The fact that I can pay $299 and get a PS3 that plays Blu-Rays, music, DVDs, surf the net and play High Def games, why would you spend $500+ every year just to keep up on upgrading your PC??
Me personally, I love gaming too much and I have a PSP, 360, PS3 and a high end PC but not many people I know have that luxury.
I spent $500 on my video card early this year.. the average gamer can't afford that. Why do PC publishers insist on pirates killing the industry when there are so many other factors involved?
You forget the price of a good HD TV. For the less than the price of a TV/console setup, you can get a very capable PC.
Edit: The poster above me makes a good point - games cost more on consoles. In addition extra controllers are not cheap.

Sadly, PC pirates are killing the PC market. Just like Xbox 360 flashers are beginning to stir up anger from 360 developers.

sadly, retards are killing forums with irrelevant fanboyism.
I haven't read any reviews from the console version, but I watched a "video review" of the 360 version. I hated it, mostly because the "journalists" were a couple of douche bags. The Everyone says the graphics are dated on the game, but that it's not a big deal. I don't understand the issue at all myself. I don't have an HDtv, or an HD monitor. I'll be playing on my PC and I'll have the specs wherever they need to be. Graphics are pretty inconsequential in a game like this.
It is not a port. It's just been in the oven a long time and the graphics have aged. I don't know what games people are playing that have people thinking these graphics are dated. They look good by my standards.

PC gaming is coming to an end...
The number of PCs dumped into landfill (35 million in 2008) is more than the total number of XBox 360 consoles sold world wide. But don't worry, there are about 1,000,000,000 personal computers world wide and that number will be doubled by 2014. There are too many PCs to make PC games go away.
Source: PC: Market and sales. As of June 2008, the number of personal computers in use worldwide hit one billion, while another billion is expected to be reached by 2014. Mature markets like the United States, Western Europe and Japan accounted for 58 percent of the worldwide installed PCs. The emerging markets were expected to double their installed PCs by 2013 and to take 70 percent of the second billion PCs. About 180 million computers (16 percent of the existing installed base) were expected to be replaced and 35 million to be dumped into landfill in 2008. The whole installed base grew 12 percent annually.

According to the CIA's World Factbook my country has a population of 16.7 million people (July 2009). The number of internet connections was 14.2 in 2008. It's safe to say that nearly all housholds have at least one computer. Do you think that all these people just use their computer to submit their income tax?druinz wrote...
only problem with that is everyone that bought a xbox/wii/ps3 mostly intends to buy and play games on it.

The next generation of consoles are probably gonna be closer to PCs than they will be to current consoles. Here's to hoping.
And its going to cost you 800 dollars or more. There's a reason why PC gaming systems are expensive... And thats premium cutting edge hardware. Which isnt cheap.

Wasn't there a new nVidia GTX275 with a GTS250 (for PhysX and GPGPU only) on the same card? EVGA released that one recently. Isn't that an option for you?BlacknBlue485 wrote...

They are not, I just finished playing the mage origin. I have the game completely maxed at 1680*1050 resolution.
To me, the game looks good. Also, I disliked ME1's look, reminded me too much of the crappy engine it was built on (unreal engine 3).
But as far as which game has higher texture detail, ME comes out on top.

I've tweaked ME1 a bit to get higher resolution textures. I am hoping I can do the same for DA:O.

I've never understood this lunacy. Why on Earth would you risk even the slimmest of possibilities of being fined hundreds of thousands of dollars or even jailed for a game you believe to be crap? You played it illegally because you disliked it. That's the worst defense I can think of off-hand. Maybe some stunningly stupid excuse will come to me later but for now, that takes the cake. Sadly, it's an excuse I've heard numerous times over the years… Makes no sense at all… *mutters while wandering off*DeathFrogg wrote...

Although comparing cars to video games is a comparison that is entirely overused and ultimately inept, you not buying the game still means you denied someone their rightful share from actually working to produce a piece of entertainment you retroactively deemed poor.
Despite that Assassin's Creed is still lauded as a pretty damn great game, I'm going to go out on the leg to say you're full of bull**** and the only good sense that comes from you is that you admit to be being a thief, which around here is like bragging about how many women you've raped.
It's honsetly distasteful and I really, really hope the mods step it up to shut down people like you from here.
PC gaming is coming to an end because people like you make dumb justifications for why you pirate. You know why DAO is going to see a lot of piracy? "It's a single player game and I don't want to pay for single player games".PC gaming is coming to an end, although the sad thing is piracy can be stopped. It just requires too much online verification mumbo jumpo. The problem is that games need to be able to be played offline. Thus piraters can work their magic. If all games require you be connected to the internet, then it would be a lot harder.
It's utter idiocy that the industry will be completely destroyed because of that stupidity.
You know what is WORSE about piracy? It will only last as long as people who can pirate the game are interesting in continuing to pirate content for it, unlike developers who can continually provide content for the games.
Maybe in six months noone will bother pirate the DLC anymore and that's when DAO will at last see actual real sales on the PC. If the consumers haven't all abandoned hope yet. <_<
No, seriously. PC gamers committed suicide 7 years ago. It's so damned obvious.

Even if its only really needed once a year.
I'm lazy and i like to just slide in that sucker and mmm enjoy the ride, without ever having to worry about whether or not my "comp" can handle it.
As for piracy.. no good argument exists to STEAL games.
Seriously you are a thief if you pirate it/obtain the game illigally for free.
"oh but the game was crappy blabla so i pirated it"
Or another classic.
"no way im gonna pay 60 bucks for that"
My answer to those most commonly used points is : dont buy/play the game then.
Its not like you have some birthright to play or own it.

Of course there are games on PC that I would like to play (Mass Effect comes to mind, The Witcher I've played with my laptop - it was barely playable with the lowest settings). IMO only games that need a mouse and a keyboard are first person shooters and strategy games and those are the two genres I don't really care.
