I have to send out a warning to all the GW2 players on here. Change your passwords and be extra tight with security. There's been a huge amount  of account hackings going on and I was one of it's latest victims. I can't even log in anymore.:crying:

That sucks Andarthiel. My WoW account was hacked a couple months ago but I got it back, albeit with naked characters and empty banks. Trying the authenticator this time and managed to get geared up already. Hackers didn't get much since they picked on a small account with one main and 4k the bank at the time. :D

What amuses me, customer suffering aside, is how Blizzard decided to make Diablo 3 online only for DRM purposes, yet many accounts were hacked shortly after the game going live. And now GW2 is suffering the same. Tsk tsk.

Same with my account, there;s nothing worth stealing in there. The only reason I want it back is the progress I made.

Oh yeah, level 1-15 areas that are connected to race capitals, which are also connected to the main capital of the game, are TOTALLY going to have low populations before 1 week of game time has passed.

You have a problem with the stupidly big zerg (also hi people who demand 40-man raids in all MMOs), level up a bit, and actually get more than a kilometer away from your "MMO backyard" into the wilderness. You'll find 10 people at best doing a single dynamic event in level 25+ areas

There is a massive difference between zerging stuff a la Dynamic Events and structured raids with 20-24 people (ideal raid size IMO, no MMO other than vanilla WoW had 40).
These raids take skill, strategy, patience, dedication, etc. And you get the proper rewards.
While gear grinding after you've beaten the encounter multiple times can be a bit dull, getting there and killing mobs for the first time and then getting into a rythm and beating zones ...? Yes, raid can be fun and challenging.
And not just for HC people who raid 6x a week.

Go on, go to North-western Metrica Province and tell me the level 15 Fire Elemental boss doesn't turn groups of players into massive corpse piles

I've been in DEs with bosses. Yes, people die.
More people rezz them.
That's why it's called zerging. That's why it requires zero syncronization, skill or strategy.
That's why it's basically boring.

Question:

Anyone have a clue how long your Main Story is? And are there plenty of stuff to do when you finally finish it? TOR kinda messed up on that area...

This worries me... I had my WOW account hacked once, and right after I purchased an authenticator too.  It was still in the mail, when they decided to hack me.  Took me forever to get my stuff back.  I don't have anything worth taking... but it worries me, still.  I'll have to change my password when I get home.

They took out all the challenge.

They did? The end of the human story act 1, with 1 of the choices of the 3 orders, your weapon gets changed to something you're unfamiliar with and you have to fight using it in a second. Plemty challenging. I ended up with no armour before I got through it.

Well I just purchased GW 2 . Had the chance to play for a few hours yesterday (I`m a level 8 warrior) .. So far so good. I find the game quite cartoony also. The combat is atrociously easy mode and not complex so far .. I hope it change later. The weapons idea was quite clever... But than my warrior do more dmg withg a rifle than dual wielding.

Running around is quite easy has you can teleport everywhere. Not sure if it`s a good or bad idea.. SInce it`s simply turn the world into a place where only quest matter. The world events are quite fun though and still quite populated. Haven`t tried PVP yet bu my server seem to suck.

Sadly I play on the EU server. Because when I bought the digital version I guess because  my window is in french they automaticly though I was living in France. So now I can only play with my french cousin ( I`m french canadian)

Oh well. The lag is fine but most of my ''online-guildy'' friend are playing in the NA server. Haven`t tried crafting and gathering matts seem to be pointless (Like woodcutting etc) . Like I said I am still quite low level.

You can change your server you know. You could just switch to a North American server. Server transfers are probably still free too, so you probably want to do it now before they add a price tag to it.

If you picked the Order of Secrets then you will be screwed when you have to do the level 30 mission Stealing Secrets. It's bugged for OoS people.

ArenaNet's lack of beta testing and doing the few hours in the middle of the day tests for the fail.

The mission was working fine when I did it though. Anet probably broke it during an update or something.

https://twitter.com/...tealing secrets

I'm not sure how the link above will work for you but basically it's doing a search on Twitter for "Stealing Secrets" (without quotes) and the massive number of people reporting the problem. And that's just twitter. I found a thread on Gamefaqs using Google about it.

I know it's bugged. What I'm saying is that his has nothing to do with their crappy stress tests schedule or the beta phase, because it was working fine until recently.

They rolled out an update that broke it. Maybe it's a change that seemed to have nothing to do with this particular mission, and they can't re-test the whole game each time they make a change. Can't know for sure, but stuff like this happens.

Too bad it happened right on time for a long weekend though. Probably won't get fixed until Tuesday or maybe even later.

There has been a lot of issues with the game since launch. So I was saying the issues the game has had can be traced back to their lack of real beta testing. They had no open beta. So any bugs the game has is not the fault of the beta testers or lack of them. It's the fault of the decision makers who decided to have the lack of true beta testing.

To those about their accounts being hacked. I'm not sure if I should publish this or not though: But the account stealing is also pretty easy there. I was shocked how easy. When GW1 was released, I bought it for a family member under 18 so to get by that, I made the account in my name and used my e-mail as he didn't have one of his own at the time. When he turned 18, we tried our hardest to get Arena to change it to his e-mail. They refused. Okay, now fast forward to GW2 release. He changed the e-mail on the account without my knowledge. I have no issue he got it to his e-mail now because that's what we wanted to do years ago. However, here it comes.... there was no confirmation e-mail sent to the old address asking for the change. GW2 allowed for e-mail addresses to be changed without confirmation. So it doesn't surprise me that they had issues in that department.

Well I finally got my account back after some wiating time with ArenaNet support. They used my old GW account information and imported it into GW2 apparently.  I made a unique password(which I haven't used anywhere else on the interwebs) and now it seems ArenaNet has set up an authorization system on my account so that when I log into either the site or the GW2 client it sends me an email and I have to authorize access via the link in the email. A little tedious but so necessary after what I've been through with this game.

Loving the exploration in this game so far. It actually rewards me for being OCD about skimming every corner in an RPG. And Assassin's Creed vistas, too! Anybody else on Ferguson's Crossing?

I was trying to save my PvP playthrough after reaching 8 with a character. But i tried it previous weekend when my friends were away with an engineer.
Now im near PvP rank 10 and dont know if i ever quit pvping in this game.
Even with only 5 maps (counting 3W too) im having lots of fun and adrenaline!

Edit: Using siege weapons i like. Especially trebuchets in 3W are deadly if you use it right.

One issue I had with the game might actually be Comcast's fault. Putting here in case it helps someone else. If you keep getting disconnected from the game but everyone you know keeps saying they have no problem, try changing your IP address. Way to do it with a router, is clone the MAC address in the router setup page. Then see if you can play fine.

Error code 7 on the GW2 support says to open ports and disable your security (Do NOT make yourself open like that). The support kept telling me to do that even after I told them it did not work many times. Their copy/paste responses for the loss.

I tried an older router and was able to play fine. Reconnected the newer one and error 7's. So cloned the MAC address on the newer router to get a different IP and game worked fine. Their support page nor their support people will not suggest this to you. So you're welcome if this helps anyone here.

I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but I'm currently playing the game with my boyfriend and we noticed something strange with the my story questing. We could enter the instance together, when one person goes in the other can follow, and then when the quest is over the other person could choose "progress quest". This was working out just fine for us, he was even getting the quest rewards and XP for completing the quest. Then, we came upon a quest where he progressed it and his my story jumped by ten levels! It skipped over nearly six quests. He still got to see the story from going into mine, but he isn't getting any items or XP. :/ Is this how it was intended to work? I'm not sure why this happened.
