If anyone finds another beta key lying around, be sure to give me a nod. :)

What time does the Beta start

I would give away a key. Sadly I wasn't given an extra key or a friends pass. I will be recording my playthrough with Fraps now that the NDA is down.

Sheesh, this forum has little interest in Guild Wars 2. Admittedly, I have no desire to pre-order right now. I've seen too many MMOs come and go. I honestly didn't care for the first Guild Wars either. But, can anyone in beta post a mini review?

I made a video about the combat. It's a short two minute but it show's off the graphics. I made myself.

I can post and record more videos as the game goes on and such.

If you've played DAoC or Warhammer you're going to have a pretty good idea of what to expect going in. From their dynamic events (synonomous with Warhammer's public quest system) to their WvWvW PvP (synonomous with DAoC's three faction system, with some door smashing to boot) there isn't a whole lot thats new about GW2 in my opinion.

The game looks beautiful, and they're trying something new with no dedicated classes; but with no subscription fee its a good game to pick up and, even if you tire of it, go back to once you get an MMO itch again. There should be plenty of footage out there on youtube etc... that will give you a better idea than any written review could. Its worth a look.

I like the chaotic nature of the combat. And in night-time the world doesn't look so ugly. :)

Anyway, story is worth nothing if it's simply "watch-and-nod". At least give us SOME options and decisions, game makers.

There are options and decisions in Charr quest lines, you shape your own team, you let someone live or die and e.t.c.  And they relate to further quests too. But havent seen a choice in human storylines altough i only leveled my humie 10-11 maybe future quests had some.
And you can persuade several NPCs with your "coversation style" being barbaric really dont helps with some traders ....

My brief report on BWE2, they've made some fairly noticeable improvements since the first beta weekend. The game runs better and graphics are more detailed but its still mainly CPU bound so there's room for a lot more. The game is the most beautiful game that I've seen.

The areas are different, there have been changes to all the areas that I visited in both BWEs. In particular changes have been made to the structured PVP maps which have served to make the maps more tactical. I played an Elementalist and a Ranger both to about lvl 10 over the weekend, both enjoyable although the ranger's pet AI needs to be improved. Elementalist was a lot of fun and will be one of my starting classes along  with engineer, an Ele can vary between being an aoe bomber using a staff to being more 1 on 1 oriented with say a scepter/dagger weapon combo.

I dabbled in crafting and it seems quite involved crafting raw materials into intermediate components before making the final items, when starting the game make sure you buy and equip the foraging implements as soon as you can to gather raw materials immediately. Characters can have 2 crafting professions.

PVP was fun both World v World and structured PVP. LIke I said above the sPVP maps have had new features added to make them more tactical which was a welcome change. Unfortunately we only got the same 2 maps as last time and not the next 2 to be added. WvW was similar to BWE and a lot of fun. There was a bit more strategy applied by some teams this time including my guild.

The real kicker for me this time was realising how involved the dynamic event system is and how there are chains of cascading events. The following vids show examples:

Big talk of this game, I don't like MMOs so what makes this game different to make me play it?

Most basically because they usually don't have strategy and I just press a number for my character to attack and press different numbers for different attacks that basically do the same thing and you basically don't do anything but watch.

This guy does a great job at summarizing some of the strong aspects of the game.

Those vids actually make this game look interesting. How much will it cost and when does it come out?

Oh man this is awesome! Could someone with beta access copy the OP and post it here? >.>

Crafting is the most important thing to me in any MMO and being able to level to max by just crafting is always great.

There you go;

The way leveling XP gain works in crafting is this: For leveling a discipline from 0-400, you will gain 10 levels along the way. By maxing out all 8 disciplines, you will gain 80 levels. That means you could dedicate a character to crafting, feed it all the mats you get on other characters and level it all the way to 80 without ever needing to kill a thing. As hardcore crafters, we think that is pretty cool.

Thanks!

Ah so we can't say take our first character and level to max with out dipping our toes in combat? Assuming mats drop of mobs and such.

If so dissapointing but still fine with me I didn't expect a sandbox style crafting system.

So you can get all 8? Is it level dependent because I could only get 2?

I think we can only get 2, and delete after maxing 2/1 prof and get the next one. We dont lose progress of the one we removed.
But im not entirely sure :)

BTW after learning disciplines we are on our own, we need to discover new recipes and raise our skill by making them. Trainer only gives us basics.

I love the Beta and it has improved but it only lasted for a day. But what annoys me are the issues in connection. I have often been disconnected for no reason whatsoever(even in the middle of instances) and last beta I couldn't even stay in the game for more than 15 mins because it kept thoring me out of the game.

I was disconnected probably 3 times in total over the event not counting the disconnection from whatever patching they did.
