Even with a Turian, the Revenant still sucks.

I thought this gun would be better once I used it with my Turian sentinel, because of the buffed weapon stability. I found the results to be slightly less underwhelming than with a human, but still reatively ineffective. Even with the added weapon stability and an assault rifle scope + damage modifier, this gun is outclassed by the Avenger at medium to long distances. The recoil isn't bad, but it's still terribly inaccurate. It doesn't even hit noticeably harder than the Avenger. The only pro is the huge amount of ammo you get with it, and since there are billions of crates laying around, it doesn't really factor in that much. While the Revenant beats out the Avenger in close quarters, you might as well just carry a katana or scimitar. It's more effective in close and carrying one of those shotguns with an Avenger is still roughly the same weight as carrying the Revenant alone!

As a rare unlock, this weapon needs a serious buff. Either more concentrated fire, reduced weight, or higher damage. Something! Anything! This weapon really has no redeeming qualities when you look at its alternatives. There is NO reason to use this weapon. It's a heavy, inaccurate, sponge-shooter and a waste of everyone's time and credits.

Agreed. The Revenant is my only rare weapon unlock thus far, and I don't like it in the least.

That sucks, I really want the claymore, but I've heard mixed reviews about it.

Got the Carnifex and the Widow. Haven't used the Widow much, since I just got it, but the Carnifex with a scope pretty much replaces the Mattock and Viper and is waaaaaay lighter.

The Revenant is pretty horrible as it is right now yes, there's no reason to use it over anything else really. The spread and recoil are just ridiculous. Not quite sure why it is so different to the ME2 version.

I'm glad they nerfed these guns a bit. Now Avenger can rule SUPEREME!

@darthnick427
I honestly don't know how you like it. It's horrible when shooting at anything that isn't 5 feet in front of you, and a shotgun is more effective at that range anyway. Carrying an Avenger and a Scimitar not only makes you more effective at mid and close range, but it's also rougly the same weight.

How do you like this gun?!

Once you have a scope, using the Avenger with a Turian is actually pretty good. Doesn't beat out the Mattock still, but if you're just carrying one weapon, the Avenger is better, as it's still quite effective at mid range, better in close quarters, and it weighs less, keeping your cooldown times extremely low.

Though I don't agree with nerfing this gun. There needs to be a reason to use this gun over the STARTING weapon in its class. The Avenger is better in almost every department, except ammo count and clip size, which doesn't really matter when your max effective range is 10 ft and you could just use a shotgun instead.

I will say ONE nice thing about the Revenant. It's cool to hipfire this thing (with a Turian) while in close-quarters. It really is! But..... a shotgun still does it better.

They made it suck so much butt for either one of two reasons. 1 so that we are forced to move on to the ME3 stuff... which I honestly think it is god damn stupid. Or 2 they thought it would be too broken in ME 3, which is just as stupid since we are not playing a competitive game.

I think a lot of this comes down to individual players. I've seen a lot of posts where people rave about the revenant.
Haven't unlocked it myself yet

True, the old one had damage relative to its recoil, and it could take down targets at longer ranges if you knew what to do with it. This variant has too little damage for what it is. It is a machine gun, and as such, should be firing higher caliber bullets than a damn low-weight assault rifle.

Overall though, it's the weakest weapon of the weakest weapon type, whereas most other classes are let down by one weapon (predator, shruiken, etc.), all the assault rifles are let downs. Revenant is the weakest of all of these, and truthfully is rather dead weight, considering that you can carry a tempest, with essentially equal firepower, but with far less recoil and one quarter of the weight.

For the record, I carry the revenant anyway, but its useless and I only have it with me for old times sake. I really just use a scoped carnifex more often than not when I do carry it and only use the revenant for point-blank encounters (literally, otherwise I try to hipfire them to death or melee them)

Perhaps we should wait for the full game and upgrade it to X version before raging hmmm?

You know what's really sad?

Fact: NONE of the weapons in the demo have higher DPS than the Revenant.

If you really want to buff it, that just makes it even easier for me.

I agree with you. None of them are really that great. I barely ever use them. Even with my Turian, which comes with good weapon stabiliy and assault rifle weight reduction, I'm more effective using just a Carnifex. It's better at range and keeps my cooldown times low.

Still kinda sucks.

Avenger
      "damage": level I 38.6, level X 48.2
      "encumbranceweight": level I -100% CD, level X -50% CD
      "rateoffire": 500

Revenant
      "damage": level I 47.6, level X 59.6
      "encumbranceweight": level I -200% CD, level X -140% CD
      "rateoffire": 650

After looking over the data on everything that is fully automatic, the Revenant has higher DPS than most weapons in the game.

That's if it actually hits your targets. Seriously, this weapon's accuracy is god awful! Even firing in short bursts at mid-range with a scope, only half of them hit what you're shooting at. This rifle is only effective at close range and that's just unacceptable for how heavy it is. It doesn't hit much harder than the Avenger and only fires a bit faster, but it weighs three times as much and is effective only at half the range.

As far as the Revenant X goes, I shouldn't have to unlock this rifle ten times before it outclasses the Avenger I.

Oh well.

If it is buffed, that means I'll have an easier time with the weapon.  So either way works for me.

Haha I'm glad it works for someone. I just don't see how. It's fun to mess around with and play Rambo, but I could never see myself using it on anything but bronze.

Well, you're talking to someone whose most used weapon in MW2 is the F2000, the least accurate assault rifle in the game.

Its nice to give yourself a challenge and see what works and what doesn't work with the weapon.  Personally all-purpose weapons aka Avenger bore me because they're extremely straightforward and everyone can use it as well as the next guy.

Say what you will about it; my Revvie I on my Human Soldier is absolutely lethal against Phantoms. Silly ninjas charge straight into the killzone.
Of course, I do have a LV4 Stability Damper on it, which allows me to give it the accuracy of a Mattock.

I have a rev II on my turian with stabilizer and scope. I think it takes the team a while to realize how to use it. The stagger effect can group targets and back them up. It is really fun pushing a guardian down a hallway. You can burst fire and stagger multiple targets keeping them out in the open for snipers. They seem to do a pretty good job on phantoms, will strip the shield from a atlas in a hurry and seem to handle turrets pretty good. I am still not sure if it is the most effective but it is fun.

I will give you that. It is pretty damn effective against phantoms when they charge. It's not bad against an atlus either because it's hard to miss and you have a ton of ammo. But other than those two enemies, you're better off using something else. It's just way too heavy. I wanted to use it for my sentinel, but the cooldown times are ridiculously high when using the Revenant.

It's awesome for CQB with a Krogan.
But other than that, I rarely use it.
