Disagree with the OP.
In original form It is inaccurate at distance - but that can be mitigated with a scope and stability mod. Also helps to use a Turian. If you do all of that - full stability mods plus use Turian char, this gun is the most fun to use in the game.
Strips off armor, shields and barriers like just about nothing else - even if you aren't the one to kill the Atlas, Banshee or Phantom, it's the suppressing fire from your Revenant that brought them down. LOVE using this gun on a herd of cannibals and husks - like running them through a blender.
A high level asari justicar (with the added AR weight reduction options chosen) kicks a** with this gun. Has a very small affect on recharge times.
Honestly the only reason not to use this gun on Gold lvl is the slow reload. Can't argue that an Avenger X kicks a** on Gold for powers based chars, largely because the reload is literally instantaneous and (at lvl 20) the gun likely accounts for a 0 hit on your recharge meter.
Even with a Turian, the Revenant still sucks.

With the turian soldier it does work with a stability damper, this was pre patch and it has only gotten better since then. With marksman specced with ROF it shreds through enemies
ive been tempted to try that but my turian soldier is a proxy mine spammer with striker, talk about stagger lol

If you don't have the Marksman Power, you use it at shotgun range and it's a damn fine weapon. You'll be dishing out as much damage as with the shotgun, just with longer but much less frequent reloads, and with less waste. Believe it or not I was having luck with it on my Asari Justicar. I had upgraded my powers for maximum damage and combo effectiveness, and would fire bursts of the Revenant during cooldowns and to easily finish off elites weakened by the bubble and or reave. I was killing Banshees as fast as most people kill Marauders.
If you're a Turian SOLDIER then you kick on Marksman and mow a group of enemies down in the time it takes anyone else to kill ONE of them. Or destroy a banshee or atlas or any other thing in the game within a single (expanded) clip.
Also I'm kind of baffled why anyone would try putting a scope mod on the Revenant and try short-burst sniping with it. That's just... why? It's an LMG, not a rifle. You don't typically stick a scope on a minigun and burst-fire THAT do you?
Extended clip is an amazing mod for the Revenant because it has bigger clips than most other weapons in the game, meaning that it gets far more benefit from it than anything else.
Extended Barrel is usually only reserved for semi-automatics, but the Revenant's damage per bullet is higher than all of the other fully-automatic ARs (not counting Striker) so it can actually see some benefit from it..
Armor Piercing mod is AMAZING both for letting you rip through elite enemies and also letting you blast through Guardians and plated cannibals as easily as you blast through anything else.

I've found that a proper specced geth can wield the revenant to a far more greater effect then both turians....
I just can't wait to get it to x and see what wonders my gi does then
The revenant will suck for everyone who cannot enjoy blasting with a loud metalhammer at everything in sight
Theres an ork lost to me ^^
Also with the new stability amp a geth does not require the damper, giving it the option to put the barrel to the (mandatory) ap mod, did a test recently, ar 3, stability amp 3, warp 3, barrel+ap, i can easily mow down 2-3 pahntoms with a single clip with my revenant 5 (given i managed to debuff with mine and start the barrage from cloak to their heads), brutes go down within a single clip easily and atli are a mere nuisance, ravager can be a problem when they are too far

Excellent revenant build discussed here.

Executive summary; Geth engineer + revenant = win, but otherwise yes revenant sucks.

I don't see how it competes with the Hornet SMG. I have both at level X and the stability on Turians makes the weapon better at everything out of short range, reloads quickly, has almost no muzzle climb especially in cover, and with Marskman can dish out significant punishment through chain headshots. Heat sink and extended barrel works like a charm, and you'll be outdpsing the Revenant most of the time. And it weighs less too.

Once you get used to the slight upward pressure you need to maintain on the right stick it's fine.
Crosshair at roughly centre mass, don't bother aiming at the head because the cone's too big and you'll waste half your bullets, you don't really need a stability mod once you get used to controlling the climb, and you'll achieve much shredding.

I use it on my Turian. I like it. I walk around holding in the trigger and blast away (whittle down) enemies that get in my way.

I do agree with what's been said- works better with Geth Hunter mode with Accuracy bonuses.

It should be made viable for all classes, imo.
How about giving it the option to set it up behind cover, a 2-3 second task that allows you to fire with little spread, allowing long range engagements, while making it harder to shoot while on the move/standing?
Feel more like a LMG
A heavy weapon that rewards planning and thinking ahead, that could compete with an infiltrator and his sniper.

This gun is not for the Turian, nor for the Geth. It's for hilarious fun with the human soldier: Get some weapon upgrades, big clip and ammo powers. Set up in a defensive position and let them come. Fire adrenaline rush when the ammo goes low. Watch them run for cover. Pack a piercing mod and add to their desperation, but without a recoil damper it's a really unruly horse.

The problem is when you're on higher difficulty levels and sitting out of cover firing gets you damaged. Heavily. You just can't maximise your dps.

the best thing it has going for it is that it's not the falcon or the striker.

You really need someone to pull some aggro for you to tackle the elites with it.
For anything else... you should be killing things far quicker than they can cause you any REAL damage. Also, what it doesn't kill instantly tends to get staggered by it.

Sure, but it seems much more efficient to go with the Hornet for that. Whenever you do start drawing some aggro you can duck into cover, reload in almost no time and start blasting away again. The ROF on the weapon is incredible and really makes it a much more balanced weapon for the Turian than the Revenant. On the other hand, the Geth hunters have the accuracy and ROF bonuses to tap into, making it a very efficient constant dpser instead of having to rely on Marksman.
