It shoots confetti. Is this for real? It has a slower DPS than almost every other gone in the game. Acutually, maybe EVERY other gun in the game.
But at least its very heavy. Whats going on here?

Bioware were watching too many movies with people firing MGs and missing every target in front of them, then they based it on that. As you can see, the result is a weapon that has no real purpose, due to its shambolic recoil, DPS (even if recoil is ignored) and basic accuracy, as well as weight.

Your opinion will change.
...Now, of course, don't expect to do that in the demo. But the Devs have sort of been dropping implications that that gun in particular significantly improves as it ranks up. Seeing as all of my main guns are at X and are generally pretty awesome, I can't wait to see what happens when we get some of the gold ones up there too.

You realise that I have done the statistics in my head, and that if a revenant has a 5% chance of being unlocked (which I believe is higher than what it already is), then statistically it should take around 20 veteran packs to unlock a single mod, and in total, will require 4000 veteran packs to unlock, which is the equivalent of 80,000,000 credits, which is statistically around 2500 completed silver matches and at around 15-25 minutes per game, that's over 88 hours of total gameplay to reach maximum level with it? You expect people to play for that long to get a single weapon good, whereas you could just use any other weapon, which will be equally, if not more deadly at maximum level?

Its been observed that the Revenant really shines in the hands of a Turian Sentinel, who can unlock a massive 70% weapon stability bonus. It will never be a sniper rifle, but with the right character, skills, and upgrades, this gun can actually be amazing.
It doesn't, trust me on this, that 30% stability still does nothing for it, and I've maxed out my turian sentinel specifically for using it, and still can't deal enough damage at long enough ranges for me to say "yeah, this thing isn't the weakest weapon I have seen so far". As a matter of fact, whenever I'm firing it, I am usually swearing, yelling threats that would make an angry russian loan shark blush in humiliation towards it.
Even with a turian, you're still FAR better of using any other weapon, and honestly, any other weapon type, the stability is nice, but you'll kill far quicker with high-caliber weapons.

The only way it seemed passable as to use it on a human soldier with adrenaline rush against an atlas. At least in that (rather overly specific) situation the weapon did seem to perform quite well. Of course, you have to maintain line of sight with the target for the entire duration for it to be effective...

Underlined the problem for you.
The Revenant is not, and was likely never intended to be, a long-range weapon. It's sole purpose is to be a high-powered automatic weapon for close ranges, which it does well (far better than a Tempest or an Avenger, at least). I prefer to think of it as the automatic alternative to a shotgun. If you find the need to deal damage at long range, and don't have powers that can do that, bring a scoped pistol along.
Also, to the earlier comments about the Revenant levels, I've noticed a substanial improvement between ranks of the Revenant as I've unlocked them, so Revenant X is likely going to be extremely potent up close.

Your equation doesn't take into account that after your get your other weapons to level X, you can't get those cards again. If they fix the ability to get character card after you've already maxed their appearance options, than you'll be able to level up weapons relatively quickly with Veteran packs.

Granted, I don't play above bronze with that character.. at least not yet. For now he's just a fun character I like to jump in and cause some havok on an easier difficulty with. I have no idea if he would really be viable on silver. I just like to make the ragdolls go flying heh.

Just use a shotgun with the avenger and you can cover both ranges at the same weight as using using the Revenant alone.
The Revenant is only good if you NEVER intend to engage the enemy from a distance over 3 meters.

3 meters? Either you're obsessive about having 100% accuracy, or you're aim's even worse than mine, because I find the Revenant's accuracy to be satisfactory to about 20-25 meters with most of the bullets hitting a target.

A. Revenant has one of the highest chances per bullet to stagger the enemy giving the rifle a very strong suppression affect/soft cc.
and B. Has access to armor penetration mods that I guess allow you to deal damage through guardian shield and bypass a certain amount of defenses?
I know on my turian sentinel with just his passive 70% stability and rank 1 revenant with plus ammo clip size that I can see it's potential.
I'm willing to bet that a rank 10 revenant with rank 10 piercing mod and stability mod or damage mod depending on what range you want to be most effective at will be very effective as a team support.
Suppressive fire and team support roles can be just as beneficial as a guy that kills stuff super fast.
Every time I play my turian sentinel we win and all I do is follow my team and spray targets for the most part.

Shotguns aren't a constant spray with knockback. Revenant is.

When I unlocked the revenant, teh first thing I did was using it against a guardian. I wasted an entire clip and they didn't even drop their shield.
Stun him with a power, then kill him with the Revenant after he flinches. The gun simply isn't designed to mail-slot a Guardian.
However, this will be a non-issue in the full game if you equip it with armor-piercing mods.
