I bought Witcher 2. I had so much fun and future dlcs for free. And now they release xbox version with bonus content and guess what. I will have it for free too. And not mentioned the fact that classic edition of the game (soundtrack game guide map, bonus content..) looks like CE from different studios. And Witcher is really really good game with great story, adult charakters based on books and famous graphics.
I bought Mass effect 3. I have read spoilers from the game, that are direct from Bioware. This spoilers ruined my game experience. I read that i will not have dlc with protean witch is core in mass effect universe. I look at normal edition of the game (only CD with some advertisment) and it looks like sh*t in comarission with Witcher 2 . I hear crapy excuse of developing dlc after the game, and i know that is not true because of dlcs content and text leaked mounts ago.
Reaction :
I cancel my preorder copy of ME3 and I am not alone. (saddly because i love ME unniverse). Really not alone.

This is ****ty marketing model. Fans are sensitive and they dont like being lied and not respected.

People seem to forget that making games is not a charity, nor does a Game and all it's content miraculously spawn form the ether. Gaming, like it or not is a business. The person who posted this message, has to be paid. The Writers who wrote the DLC and Mass Effect in general need to be paid. The Company who bought the Engine that visualizes the Art assets the Designers and Artist make needs to recoup the expense.

I will gladly pay money for a Game, or a DLC (THAT IS OPTIONAL), if it ensures that more content and More time will be spent on that product. Gaming can no longer give something for nothing. It's just not how business works.

Also something of note, that many seem to have missed. If you read that little blurb from the OP. It Tell's you most of what you need to know. If you choose to disregard that though. That's your own fault.

They would see a small dip in copies without DLC I reckon, compared to regular DLC releases, if people follow through on their not buying the DLC.

On one side you have the accusers who say that the DLC should be free, because it is ready on Release day and Should be free for all regardless of what version you. Which is a Flawed argument to begin with. It is not part of the main story and therefor not important to finish the game with. It adds something extra thats about it.

Like all the loyalty missions in ME2? None of them were part of the 'main' story and were not necessary to complete the game. Should they have been sold seperately as 'optional' content? The problem with this argument is simply that the majority of most games are optional. Look at Skyrim. To complete the 'main' story I can run through that in a matter of hours. Should the rest of the game be cut and sold back to me piece by piece? This content was created during the process of creating ME3, perhaps by a second team, much like the Zaaed DLC was. But the Zaaed DLC was created as an encouragment to buy the game new. I could walk into a store and buy ME2 new and get the complete experience. I can't do that with ME3.

Simple as that

A gift doesn't usually cost 10 bucks. Saying Bioware 'did this for the fans' is nonsense. If that were the case it would be included as standard for new purchases - an actual 'gift' for everyone who has supported this franchise since ME1.

I already had the DDE on order anyhow, so technically this doesn't affect me, but I can see why people are going to be upset - and I hope BW/EA reconsider their position.

You're right. They did it for the money. Sue em. They gave it to the CE buyers for supporting their game and paying them more money and are rightfully charging those who didn't pay them extra for CE if they want it. They must be the only company in the world who wants to make a profit. How dare they?

You obviously don't love it that much or you'd just buy the game and leave the DLC alone on principle if you don't like the idea. You'd play the game for all the love you have for ME so you could finish your story (or multiple stories if you're a real fan). So, whatever. For every one of you there's 10 of us, waiting impatiently for our games and DLC to arrive.

What about the true fans like me who can't afford big fancy collectors edition like i said a few posts up i had to save up 3 weeks to get the 60 euro needed to buy me3. My country is in a recession i have 2 young sons i have to pay my ex girlfriend 250 child support and i get about 300 to feed myself and pay the bills a lot more people like me are true me fans but we can't afford these dlc that should be in the game.

Every country is currently in a Recession, but that is not an excuse to be arrogant enough to demand free DLC, just because the collectors editions get it.

Look, I understand that for some amassing the 60 bucks might be a hard thing to do and in no way do I deny that. But for this being Non-essential DLC, nothing is stopping you from spending 10 bucks (which even if you only got 300 each month) is childs allowance and you can purchase it a month or 2 later. It is not going to ruin your game experience.

Fact is none of you are ever going to be happy. Even if they did offer this DLC free to normal versions and Collectors edition and then also a same sized and price worthy DLC purely for the CE on Day (2 pieces of DLC in this example) you all would still complain its unfair and want that other piece of DLC for free as well.

No, not as far as I see it. The SE contains A, B, and C. The CE contains A, B, C, D, and E. The extra cost covers D and E. Saying that the SE should also cover D, and therefore the cost of the CE covers only E, is just rubbish. Try getting that kind of logic past your math teacher, and see what happens.

It seems the BSN is split over the day 1 DLC.

Can't we all just get along, and rag on that deception book again? I liked those days, we were all united and stuff.

Nope, it takes money to make the game and DLC, so it's fair they charge money to cover their costs. The product is finished and the DLC is bonus content. I don't get used, I get a product for my money. So holding content out of the game to charge you is ok. So i guess the next time you use a public restroom they should charge you because hey they have electricity and running water.Lets not forget toilet paper thats not free. Why not charge extra for the game case or we could make you pay extra for every companion in the game. Why stop with content that was purposely held out from the finished game.It seems like people love paying extra for what should be in the game in the first place.

But you didn't need to call him an idiot.

Anyone that thinks BioWare is cheating the customer by making "From Ashes" Day 1 DLC is an idiot.

Anyone that's ****ing and boycotting the release of the game over it is an idiot.

Anyone that buys the game but refuses to buy the DLC strictly on principle is a-okay in my books.

Then I don't really see how you expect to have an adult conversation with anyone.

Ultimately, they will gain more money selling the DLC than they will lose from people not buying the game itself over this. Take that to the bank. Not to mention the MP demo is out there recruiting a whole new crop of buyers who haven't even owned ME1 or 2 (my best friend included, though he played my copy of ME2). The avid posters on this board make up a fraction of the buyers of this game, so all the rage won't amount to much, considering even 1/2 of the ragers won't ACTUALLY cancel their pre-orders.

DLC.

It is what it is, and it's not going to change. You're just gonna have to learn to deal with it.

These companies don't give a damn about your concerns and your boycotts. All they see is money, so if you're upset over this, let your wallet speak.

Chances are I'm still going to buy Mass Effect 3 later down the road when a bundled version comes out with all content that was released for it. Sure, I'll probably be paying full retail, but that'll also be about thirty to forty extra dollars in DLC that they won't get from me if I had bought ME3 at release and forked over extra cash for DLC.

One game, one purchase. I'm damn tired of getting nickeled and dimed when it comes to video games. This industry has gone to hell.

The game is complete without the DLC. You're getting a complete product for the money you spent.

At no point will the game be 'unplayable' without the DLC.

Adding the DLC just adds to the experience. But to get that experience, you have to pay a premium.

I see no problem with this.

For those that do, I mock you. Openly.

People seem to forget that gamers are not a charity, and shouldn't be expected to fork over their money for an incomplete product, or to pay extra money to get what they should be getting for the original price.

Nobody is asking for a free game (though I daresay this scheme by Bioware/EA is going to compel a lot of people to go get themselves free copies), they're asking to pay $60 for a full game.

Because I want to play the game. I work, I earn money, I spend money. But pretending that Bioware charging for Day 1 DLC is "the best example of what is going wrong in our world in modern times" is to have no prespective on life whatsoever.

In the end, it's just a game, not a sign that the world is about to end.
