Funny how CE's are getting justified nowadays for extra content that should be available with the main game. CE's are for the extra goodies you get along with it.  Physical items and what not.

Because you say so? Collector's Editions mean additional content. That's it. It's up to the people offering the CE to decide what that additional content is.

sure, so cut anything important from a game and sell it as dlc, or pay 70$ for a CE that contain everything IMPORTANT -not useless stuff like ****s or doggies-...WTF??!?!

how do you know the prothean is important?  Not only that but how do you know the prothean will be cut from the game entirley without the dlc?

Please enlighten me on your authority.

The fact that it comes out the day of release for the main game?

I don't know about you but I like paying for a game not paying for parts of a game and being told I'm entitled for expecting the whole game.

It's not a part of the whole game.  It was not taken out, not in the way you're saying that it was.

You're retail copy is the whole game.  From Ashes was intended for the CE and DLC for day 1 since the CE was announced unofficially at least a year back or so.

If you feel it should be a part of the main game, that he should be more interwoven with the narrative of ME3, that's a whole other issue, and just your opinion.

This is what's wrong with the game industry.  Why release a great, full featured game when you can just release a skeleton of a game and charge customers $10 a pop for DLC to gradually put flesh on the bones.

This is content produced prior to the release of the game, sold at release....that isn't available to people who paid full retail price for the game.  It's absolutely outrageous.

I'm actually less disappointed with Bioware than I am with the idiots who make it possible for companies to behave this way.

Since when is the day of delivery meaningful in any way? People keep on giving arbitrary reasons for their own rationalizations... Grow up people.

i find this very disturbing-

this should NOT be day 1 dlc.

i purchased the CE for a reason and now most of it is avialable to everyone?

whats the purpose of buying the CE then? you guys need to let us have an exclusive for a minimum of 6 months on the content- i strongly hope you hold release of this "from ashes" nonsense back.

maybe authorize more CE copies after release.

You buy a CE because you want to collect stuff ,hence the name Collectors Edition.

Examples would be the Lightning figure in FFXIII
The Troll model from War in the North
Various art books,maps, sound tracks.

I don't mind spending a little more on the game actually. What bums me out is that the N7 digital deluxe edition details in origin doesn't say anything about the DLC. So I pre ordered the normal version. Now I've to spend more in total than what the deluxe edition would have cost... without the other bonuses.

N7 DDE includes the DLC. It's been discussed around here but it's gotten swept aside by the pages and pages of hate.

I know. Let me be clearer. I didn't pre-order the N7 Digital Deluxe edition. I pre ordered the regular version from an e-commerce site i my Country thinking there's not much difference between the two versions(other than the ones mentioned in the details section of the Deluxe edition in Origin)

Gotcha. I didn't read it correctly. The DDE should still be available. Digital never runs out.

Don't think of this as Day One DLC. Think of this as Collector's Edition exclusive content that's available for you to buy on day one if you got the standard edition.

Plenty of games put bonus content, including substantial pieces of content like extra levels or dungeons, in collector's editions. In that respect, From Ashes is no different.

What sets From Ashes apart is that it's available to buy day and date with its release in the collector's edition. Most other games either never release collector's edition exclusive content for people who bought the standard edition, or release it months later.

Didn't buy the collector's edition? Too bad. You should be happy that Bioware is letting you get the content at all, and on day one no less.

There is logic right there, like I've said, it's like drugs.  They got their fix & don't care about anyone else, so long they can continue to get thier fix.

JJ

Thats right folks.  How dare you expect a 60 dollar game to be you know a full 60 dollar game....  Sad to see so many people with this entitlement.  Nintendo should've nipped this in the bud and made everyone pay 10 bucks a level for Super mario Bros.

You're argument is flawed. The game is complete without the prothy. This would be like Nintendo charging ten dollars for you to play as Luigi. Sure it would ****** a lot of ppl off who claim, "Luigi is important to Mario Bros lore!" but he's not essential to the single player experience.

The Prothean is important because he is a GODDAMN PROTHEAN, y'know: a member of an extinct species in the Mass Effect universe... And I know for a fact that Javik is not present in the game at all unless you install the DLC, he is the only Prothean and he's not in the game otherwise.

One squad mate and one mission makes the MASSIVE two-disc game crammed with content a skeleton of a game? You can't possibly logically defend that position.

Why should it be included???  It's extra content.  It provides nothing for the main narrative of the game, just like Kasumi's Memories.  And yes, I know exactly what I'm talking about before you get on your high horse.

That's what is pissing me off right now, is a prothean, and provides nothing to the main narrative, that's increible. The level of writing went downhill.

Yes the more your willing to fork over for a game = how grown up you are.

You should take you're own advice.
Its shady business and I'd find it hilarious if it wasn't so sad how many people are so eager to eat it up.

how do you know you're only getting a "skeleton" because you may or may not get a prothean that could have very little relevance to the actualy plot?

Only his VO and model are in the main game.  The DLC has the mission to get him and the rest of what will make him, well, him, in the game.

And Javik is not important to ME3.  He only provides a bunch of history insights and is a squad member.  Might be possible to get an additional asset through his mission, but that isn't known and that will be an asset in addition to the complete total you can obtain in the retail copy.
