From Ashes = one download with everything together. Therefore, CE will get everything in From Ashes, not just the character. That help?

you are either blind or illiterate.

From Ashes has skins/characters that are NOT in the CE. that's why it says "in addition" to the ones advertised in the CE. the only thing that was verified to be BOTH in the DLC and CE is the squadmate + mission. the weapon, they did not elaborate, but the skins/appearances clearly says "in addition" to the ones in the CE. meaning, if you get the CE, and you get the From Ashes, you have TWO sets of skins.

good gawd i didnt know reading comprehension escapes some people.

I'm neither blind nor illiterate. Your lack of capitalization shows you could use some help though. I was answering the question asking if they would get the outfits or just the character and mission by getting the CE.

I have answered a similar question 4-5 times in this thread. If you get the CE, you get the outfits and N7 weapons from the CE. In addition, you get a completely new set of outfits and the gun in addition to the character and mission. This is because "From Ashes" is a single download, meaning all of those things unlock together. Since the CE gets "From Ashes", I was explaining that the CE gets everything from "From Ashes" and not just the character and the mission.

Before you go throwing insults at me regarding my ability to read and comprehend, you should probably make sure you comprehend what I'm saying by trying to help other people with their questions.

Even if it was, what does it matter.  It's EXTRA content that they had folks working on that they are selling.  Why do you feel entitled to it?  Because it's being released on the same day as the game?

Let me put it this way.   Let's say that Dodge produces a Challenger.  They tell you you can pre-order one...just a basic one.  You can also pre-order a tricked out one with lot's of cool stuff.
Right before the car is rolled off of the assembly line, Dodge tells you that the day the car is available you can order a cool 47" flat panel monitor that slips right into the roof of this baby, for $2000 more.  But for the people that ordered the tricked out version that cost them $2000 to begin with, they are going to throw it in for no extra charge.  Do you see something wrong with that?

Because those files exist on the game I bought in an incomplete state. Charging me £10 make use of something that is already on the disk I purchased is wrong.

Why is the DLC not part of the digital deluxe edition? It costs exactly the same as the collector's edition yet has less worthwhile content than it. What're you trying to pull here? This is absurd. Skipping this purchase and telling all my friends to do so.

The Digital Deluxe edition with Prothean DLC costs $90 USD. The Collector's is $80. While the standard edition with the DLC is $70. If piracy were legal I'd tell all my friends to do that instead.

I'm almost positive the prothean DLC comes with the digital deluxe. It's basically just the N7 CE without the merchandise.

The Protheans are the only reason any of the plot occurred, if the Protheans hadn't sent that message out to the beacons and built the Conduit Mass Effect 1 would have never occurred.

Completely true. And although someone already rose up to point this out, that doesn't contradict anything I said.

The protheans were critical to ME1s plot. They are irrelevent to both ME2 and ME3. You can think about the games much like you would a novel. In this context the protheans make sense as a spin-off novel (a la DLC) that goes deeper into their backgrounds, but because it's entirely irrelevent to the overall story at this point they aren't "required" or "neccessary" or "hugely important" to the story of ME3. They are at this point entirely irrelevent (so far as we're aware. I'm sure any good writer could write their importance back in, but that would dwelve too far into attempting to dictate the story Bioware tells).

The fact it's a prothean is just being used as an excuse and a mask to attack Day1 DLC, which mind you, I'm not in any way defending or attacking with these posts.

The protheans are not important, critical, or in anyway relevent to ME3. To the mass effect universe and the lore? Yes. To the story, plot, and gameplay of ME3? No.

They are far from irrelevent in both ME2 and ME3.  The Collectors were the focal point, who were Protheans, and ME3 is based around something to do with the Protheans to help fend off the Reapers.  So they are far from irrelevent.

However, Javik is not important to ME3.

But it is really just an excuse.  The issue is that it was poorly handled Day 1 DLC.

Both the CE and DDE come with free codes to this DLC. . . calm down.

Ok, I'll agree to calm down if I can be provided proof of this. As listing for DDE do not include mention of the DLC neither was I able to recieve any worth while information from an Origin rep.

Not sure why so much outrage over this. More content designed for CE, if you didn't want to spend money on the CE, and you want the extra content, you pay for it.

As far as I am concerned, more content is only greatness for Mass Effect, but I understand that if I want something as far as a good or a service, that I have to pay for it.

and the CE got extra content . . . N7 patch, soundtrack, artbook, etc, etc . . . but to get an extra character . . . . . bad business model, but there will be enough ppl who will buy it and enough ppl who will "defend" poor business ethics that businesses will continue to strong arm consumers b/c they can

Hmmm.  Your view is noted, but sounds too much like you feel entitled to a product just because it has Mass Effect 3 attached to it and it is being released the same day as the game.

We, as consumers are not "entitled" to anything.  That is what is great about a capitalist society.  If you don't like how they sell their product, you can easily NOT BUY IT.

No one is being cheated in this case.  You paid for a regular edition of the game, which means that you are to receive the game, bare bones.   Hey, they have some more content that you could enjoy if you want but it will cost you $10 US dollars.  No need to buy it to complete the story but maybe you would enjoy it.   If you think it's too much money, you don't buy it.

How dare this company charge for their work! How dare you sirs!

you're right, consumers are not "entitled" to anything but consumers decide what's fair trade . . . taking content out of a game and re-pakaging it as DLC isn't what i would consider a "fair trade"

just b/c EA/BW said it was "designed exclusively for CE" doesn't mean they aren't lying . . . i'm not going to be naive and say "oh gee golly gosh . . . BW/EA sure is swell for making an exclusive character just for me"

$$$$$ is what's important, not "fair trade value" . . . . EA doesn't care about customers, just their money and they will do anything for it b/c they kno enough ppl will "defend" them and their poor business practice

Do you have the guddamn disk yet? Because that "It's on the disk" argument is really shaky right now. Because it was in the demo files? What if it was leaked, intentionally or unintentionally, with the demo files?

To be honest, I wasn't that bothered by this DLC news at first. I just thought it was an unpleasant manifestation of our capitalist society but not hideous compared to other manifestations - just an inevitable consequence.

But then I read this sentence form the OP:
"The Prothean is optional content that is certainly designed to appeal to long-time fans, which is why he is part of the CE offering (the version many fans would be likely to purchase)."

So because I can't afford the CE, that makes me less of a fan?
That might not be what you meant to imply but that's how it comes across to me.

Nope, the operative phease is "the version fans would be LIKELY to purchase".  That doesn't exclude the possibility of people buying the SE version.  They simply realize the CE version is in limited quantities.  Hence their push to have From Ashes available to everyone else on day 1.

Thank you, I can read.  :D

The inclusion of the word "likely" does not lessen the sentence - it just means that they think the most likely situation is that fans buy the CE while the, um, "non-fans" buy the SE (why would "non-fans" even be buying the third game of a series anyway?).  Which is clearly nonsense - "fans" are just as likely to buy either version.

But who is more likely to buy the CE, though?  Someone who's been a long-time fan of the series, or some gamer who has heard good things about Mass Effect 3?

Irrelevant to my point, mate.  I'm pointing out that just because I'm buying the SE, it does not mean I'm "likely" to be a non-fan.  Someone who buys the CE is no more "likely" to be a fan than I am, they're just likely to have more money.
This DLC isn't about fans and non fans, nor is who buys the CE and who doesn't, it's about who has money.  So trying to turn it into something else - "the fans are likely to get the CE, the others are likely to not be fans" - is a little dismissive to say the least, if not outright insulting.

Why do you keep pushing the incomplete-bs when the evidence points to otherwise?  I've seen the files in person, and I've explained what is there, which is hardly anything compared to what the file size of the DLC indicates.   I've also been through the scrip numerous times, and there is no evidence indicating he was cut to be just DLC to screw you and every other customer over.

So thanks for sharing you opinion, but that's all it is, and saying that it is all on the disk makes you wrong in addition.

I have a question.

Is Mass Effect worth all this?

Yes, Mass Effect is worth every penny of it.

Is it?

I paid 10 bucks for ME1. Didn't think much of it.

Paid 10 bucks for ME2. Didn't think much of it until I finished it.

After all this, I'm not thinking much on this series anymore, period.

The DDE does include the DLC. Confirmed by Casey Hudson on Twitter and other responses around here.

Ok, I appreciate the help. I appologize for getting so heated. Honestly though I think the pricing for the DLC is ridiculous.

Before you go throwing insults at me regarding my ability to read and comprehend, you should probably make sure you comprehend what I'm saying by trying to help other people with their questions.

and where did they say that "From Ashes" was a single download?

they advertised the CE having "one squadmate + one mission", not a "DLC with a squadmate + mission + other stuff".

and they said the skins and characters from "From Ashes" are "in addition to the ones advertised in the CE". if you're saying "From Ashes is already in the CE", then what's the point of saying the skins from this DLC is "in addition" to it if it's already there?
