finalising the disk before all the content was on it" (Which is the
truth of what they are saying) is just bull****.
You do not finalise a
game when you still have ideas, and development time allotted to said
game. The minute you start doing that, you cut the "Game" shorter and
shorter and the "DLC" starts getting larger and larger, whilst being
split into more parts for more $$$.

Want to you get "From Ashes" for Mass Effect 3? Order the Digital Deluxe version and get this DLC +$10 game credit. amzn.to/Awc50K
What's the point in that when the Digital Deluxe version gets the DLC anyway?
cause obviously it means you aren't even paying for the $10 of the extra 20$ for DDE for the dlc in the DDE......with the 10$ credit. this isn't rocket science
Actualy in some ways its a terrible business practice because its showing favoritism to the people who buy the DDE since they get ALL of the the same digital content as the collectors edition while only paying the same price as the SE.
Thats only if its there for the express reason of the DLC though, which it isnt since afaik all versions of ME 3 from amazon have a $10 credit so its more a marketing point for the game in general and not related to the DLC.

Everyone else is flat out wrong.

CE - complete game
SE - complete game if you pay £10 more.
So then you would be ok with it if the base game cost $70 and everyone got it for free?
more like ok if it was handled like ME2, 60 bucks and everyone got it free. too much to keep a consistent business practice?
ding ding.. WINNER!

It's been that way for a while, even the SE has a $10 credit for all platforms. Pretty sure it was there when I preordered back in September.

I never demanded BW to change anything, I'm neither with the people demanding the DLC for free, what I say is that ME3's writing is really going downhill, by introducing a mindblowing character like a prothean alive for the sake of selling DLCs and CEs and not for the sake of plot. I don't expect BW to change anything, that doesn't mean I shouldn't voice my opinion or unconstructive criticism as you call it.fropas wrote...

Sorry I couldn't convince you one way or the other, but I do have hope in BW. Hope is only useful in hopeless situations afterall, and the game has already gone "gold" I'd be surprised if they weren;t already mass producing the discs. If you think they can change the plot a this point I think you're being unreasonable, so no argument would be good enough for you anyway.
In ME 1 they were originally going to have a positive AI NPC to interact with but decided against it at a later date. With ME 3 they likely had more planned for the the new character initially but changed direction. Still the concept of an ancient warrior was too tempting to completely pass up so they created this DLC to provide players with something thy new long time fans would enjoy.

umm yes you do. they had a deadline for march 6, and they had to get the game certified before that, and that takes many months and during this time and untill release, you cannot alter the game in any way. From ashes was developed by the DLC team during this time was was always ment to be optional.

It is disgusting. They should just include it in the normal purchase OR I'm not just boycutting the game, I'm boycutting EA as a whole, And I'll tell those who listen to my podcasts to do the same.
I'm sure Bioware will miss all 5 of those sales.
That is, if your audience listens to you.
If they're smart, they'll unsuscribe.

This times 100. Damnit Bioware, your games are still going to sell millions anyway, stop wasting your money on dumb marketing gimmicks. Bethesda didn't need a Facebook game to move copies of Skyrim. Please stop using Bethesda as an example of excellent buisness practices, when they released the rediculous Horse Armor DLC that they wanted you to pay $5 or the nearly non functional PS3 version of Skyrim.
Right, but they've apparently learned from that experience. Todd Howard's made self-deprecating jokes about it in interviews and their plan is to focus on making larger, expansion pack sized DLC for Skyrim.

I never said anything about being forced to buy DLC, believe me I support the expansion of games to renew content. My issue is with a lot of stuff being gimmicky pertaining to DLC practices. DLC A for facebook, DLC B, for buying this, DLC C for doing this. Sure it's all optional, but it's getting to be ALOT of work to 'collect' All content for a game, when games used to be purchasable whole. All of the content available from the start is not available at the time of purchase because its segmented. I would like to spend more money to have the 'whole' game available Day 1... but in reality thats not possibly without buying a keyboard, figure, DLC, etc. Sure, it's optional, but they're sure still trying to hook people. That's the point I was trying to get at.

But considering that most if not ALL the DLC besides the Prothean is Multiplayer weapons and armor, does collecting it matter? Also, it's called marketing. As much as people here might hate Facebook, it's a perfect place to advertise given it's traffic.
Ya, I know its marketing too coming in to play. Playing devil's advodate for moment. Would you have more confidence in a product backed by someone saying its awesome or by someone convincing you its awesome because you get a free toaster out of the deal?
Simple Truth: "I just want to play the whole game!"

It's the same thing. A car without all available options must be wrong too then.
It's business people! This happens with every product made! That doesn't stop people from downloading apps for their phone the day they get them either. This is the same damn thing!

Gotta wonder how good the story will be if a character belonging to the race that was been very influential to the story and the lore is optional
it will be like how shale was optional, he will provide a new perspective and alot of new lore, but at the end of the day he will have very little to no large impact on the main story itself, and he will not be required for you to fully understand the story of ME3
Then they missed an opportunity. Imagine how good the story could have been if the protheans were a driving and essential part of the plot. I guess I will just wait few days after the release to read about the new lore that has no impact on the main story. I' m kind of saddened by this

not to mention, the dlc could EASILY have been distributed in the same manner as Zaeed and Shale. unfortunately, bioware would rather use greed and cause a fairly large divide between the SE and CE buyers.
its sad to see too.. i used to respect bioware.
