i don't mind it so much that you guys are doing this. i like the idea and it docent effect the story that much and i know how i a idea was made after it when gold, unlike have of the winers that ****ing, moaned, and complaineing about it because "should be to everyone" bs i keep reading about, programing is a hard thing to do( i have done a bit of it my self trust me its a pain in the a**) so i can understand that your addingh it late in the game and making it opional for them and not having to reprogram the whole game. so i personly dont mind that your doing it, my only question is why does he have a Jamaican accent?

People have challenged the integrity of a world-class video game developer and their publishing partner with accusations of gouging, many have gone to the point of hyperbole, using absolutely ridiculous claims of greed.

There are three levels of Mass Effect available at launch:

Basic
Basic + DLC
Collector's edition.

These people want only two levels, but they want to pay the same price for the first.

Basic+DLC at the price of Basic
Collector's edition.

When told it's not going to happen, they throw a tantrum. Then they try and be Vox Populi, except they most certainly do not speak for anyone that's purchased the CE, and they certainly do not speak for everyone else that buys the game. They claim to, and they may even delude themselves into believing they are, but they're not. They think themselves a beacon for change where no change is necessary, like some kind of minor gaming prophets.

They need to be told loudly, repeatedly, and harshly, to shut. The. Hell. Up.

They want to make a difference, take what measly little pride they have and not buy the game. See what difference it makes when they see the thousands of people they tried to represent do exactly what they don't want them to do, and buy the game AND the DLC without an eyeblink.

A reasonable person would then concede defeat. Instead, these disgusting ingrates grumble and whine and whisper under their breath about 'pathetic Biodrones,' still thinking themselves the Paragons of the gaming community and the rest of us raccoons easily distracted by shiny objects.

I have not once used the word "biodrone" in reference to any person with an opposing opinion, I challenge you to find one instance of me saying such a thing. I disagree with you, and I'm not going to be quiet about it because you can't handle differing opinions. I'm sorry.

this thread was created to be a metaphorical trash bin for the VERY volitle opinions for people on both sides of this debate. deleteing it would only cause it to spread furtther into every topic untill the fourm couldnt function.

Yeah, at this point, opinions have been stated. There really isn't much more to say. I think the amount of attention to a $10 piece of software is a record, though.

It's quite funny how the Prothean Squad Member wasn't really a good kept secret. Everybody on this board knew that the DLC is the Prothean. I don't understand why the people even thought they would get him for free while he was promoted to be in the CE in the first place (this DLC was the cherry on the cake for the CE). I seriously don't get it :/ I read through a lot of pages and I can understand the points but I think that there isn't really new points coming up. Bioware should just lock this thread for now

also, the SE version of the game is being advertised as the full game, so your darn right i expect all the same experience as a CE buyer.  do i expect the soundtrack, artbook, and vanity items?  no, thats what you are paying for when you spend the extra $20.. but i do expect access to released DLC that contains, arguably, a HUGE part of the ME universe.  again, its a PROTHEAN.  why would bioware suddenly make this purchasable if it wasnt important?

and yet SE buyers are NOT going to be getting that content unless they spend an extra $10. it sucked with warden's keep (even if it did only cost $7), and it sucks here too.

False logic.  It is purchasable because it is fun and EXTRA content, just like Overlord and The Shadowbroker, not because it is important to the plot, which it is not any more than the multiplayer.  The main plot gets on perfectly well without it.  This is just one Prothean that didn't even know about what the people on Ilos did.

I suggest you reread what you wrote because it sounds like your merely upset you don't get Prothean in the SE.  I don't know why since you would be getting him for $10 less than any fool that bought the CE purely for the Prothean.  Why is it wrong to charge extra for extra content and reward those that bought the CE with it?

The fact that you even used the word arguably to decribe the protheans impact on the universe undermines your point. Not that you dont have a valid complain in many ways but using the prothean's impact on the universe as automatic proof of his importance to the game and that the game is incomplete without it is flawed when you yourself state that his contribution is arguable.

Buying used means no money for EA which is better, play the game without giving EA any money the customer doesn't lose EA does.

It means no money for BioWare either, and means all money stays with the distributioner (GameStop etc.), which means companies have to come up with new ways to make money from used game sales... which means pretty much more D1 DLC or similar.

Which is why they had the Zaeed DLC and the cerberus network, so people bought it new.

What an interesting person you must be to find superiorty buying a game..

There should be one version of the game on release. I don't care if I paid £300 for my CE (and I have) The game itself should be the same for everyone.

What I find funny is either you are trying to bring Bioware down, or you actually think your "defence" tactics are in the interest of Bioware.

I don't see how anyone can claim that the DLC squad member was not considered exclusive when it was only ever mentioned in advertisements for the CE, if it had appeared next to a SE box or had been in any way linked to the SE then I could see how some would have the expectation of it coming with a standard purchase.

This doesn't make Day 1 DLC right, nor am I suggesting that, but the advertisements were fairly clear in their intention to sell it seperately for SE owners.
