Seriously, if the Prothean is actually in the game even without the DLC (but not as a squadmate) all the ****ing would stop. Bioware! Answer this!

Oh that would make it alot worst... some much worst matter of fact... I hope its not true.

Huh? To me that would make the most sense. Personally I don't care either way TBH, but a Liara-type deal where you're able to interact with her and find out story bits without the DLC makes sense IF Prothy has any role at all in the main narrative of the story. If he's completely added on for lore's sake, then who cares. He won't be important to the story and people who want the lore can do the mission and those who want to pretend he never existed can do so.

the problem with that is Liara came out 6  or more months later ... this is day 1.   The best move would have been to cut it and not do it. .. or Cut it and do it like  Laira or Kasumi.   Post release and include the code in CE anyway... The way Capcom worked the deal with   Jill and Shuma Gorath.. yeah its raises  some eyebrows and some are going to flip tables... but it gives things time to calm down  and you brush it off a little bit.   Yeah  its still  bull**** but by now the hype for the game has calmed down some.

because either way...its a rushed and complete mess or its blood awesome it a lose - lose. one end it looks like you just did that crap half ass and then are charging people for half ass content or  you trying to see how far you can push the Day 1 DLC deal with Playable characters..

either way its bad.

I would agree with you but apparently it wouldn't because then they would be missing out on the interactions with him on Eden Prime.

wat...

basically Bioware story  or explaination is that  they want to make this available to everyone  but they could not get it in the game in time so they made it a DLC ..

If the  everything dealing with the Prothean is in the game but the Mission and the  ability to use  him...

Head for the hills.

he isnt in the main game at all. but at the same time all the infomation you get from both javick (the prothean squadmate) and from "from ashes" is in the game, either told by other people or in the codex

And you know this... how?

Some people have read various leaked info, which appears to sustain the previous statement.

Everyone on here is attempting to pump up the significance of the Prothean to the main story when it's obvious that the writers have deemed him insignificant. Otherwise, he wouldn't be DLC and would be included as a squad member in the main game.

that is as sad as it is true

Yep, day one DLC sucks and, given the wider significance of having a Prothean team mate join us in our adventures, this seems like fan service in reverse. Poor show Bioware.

*eye roll* 283 pages of... what? Even if it was free, people would be complaining that it wasn't included in the full-game, that people were being forced to download it as part of a new game purchase, and that it was just a covert DRM scheme. Because that is EXACTLY what people screamed about with ME2 and the Cerberus Network. People on these forums will complain about anything... That's the reason why I haven't posted in two months and only came back because this thread was linked on bluesnews. Jeez.

You have to consider the posts from those that disagreed and don't care about this.

since we always got the previous game enemy race as squadmember, i assume the reaper squad member in ME4 :V

anyway its kinda sick that you got suo much lore confined in a dlc, we are talking about an ancient civilization extinct by 50'000 years, it would make more sense to be studied, interrogated and examinated rather than hang around with shep as defender of the galaxy...

It's the power of principle.£10 won't even get you a decent lunch in London.

Everyone should have the same content on their disk when the game is released(or be able to get it from codes in the package). I don't care whether or not I've bought the CE.

That does not extend to extras like Action Figures etc. You want those, you got to pay for them.

There's very little significance unless you want an African guy to tell you a little bit about Prothean lore instead of finding out from other people and the codex. Oh yeah, and a mission to Eden Prime, a gun, and some outfits. Forgot about those. There will be no significance to the main storyline of killing Reapers. Bank on it.

I don't think it's sad, as I mentioned earlier, the Protheans pretty much become irrelevant after your conversations with Sovereign and Vigil.  They become no more important than the Humans, Asari, Krogan, etc.  They're just one of numerous victims to the Reapers.

I have an amazing idea. Perhaps all you people with CE's having a crisis of faith because you are getting something that you paid for that SE owners don't want to pay for should GIVE AWAY YOUR DLC CODE to someone else who has 'only' ordered the SE.

Right, because everyone who ordered the collector's edition KNEW that they would be getting the Prothean and didn't just find that out a couple days ago.

It's been danced around by BioWare reps because they're waiting to reveal and don't want spoilers that could hurt DLC sales but basically it's understood (by those who aren't blinded by rage) that the lore and info regarding the Protheans will come out one way or another whether you have the DLC or not. There will be other avenues of obtaining the information.
