To all: Just as a point of reference, here is what the DLC description when you go to download it from xbox live says:
Mass Effect: From Ashes
Unearth lost secrets from the past and recruit the Prothean squad member in Mass Effect 3.
There you have it. Just the "unearthing lost secrets" part should cover - in my opinion - having that included in the base game. I care less about the Prothean squaddie than adding to what, in the past, has CONSTANTLY been lore included with the base games.
Really? LotSB, Arrival and Overlord were pretty lore intensive.
But the lion's share of work was done post-release, that's the major difference here.

So what you're saying is that it's alright for DLC to be done post release, but it's a travesty to be done post completion?

I agree that it should be available to all, or a code that gives you a choice for either multiplayer or the Prothean but not both..... But 293 pages of egregious moaning about the situation will not resolve the issue, particularly as not all the fact are apparent.....
Agreed. Unless you have access to everything that happened as it happened during the creation process, you really have no clue what is what. You have a right to defend yourself as a consumer, no doubt. But people haven't played the game yet, they have no access to the Bioware offices, so they really have no physical proof of what's going on outside of spectulation.

Just FYI, first person to post on Page 300 gets some sort of prize.
Do I get the 'From Ashes' DLC free?
You can get the outfits and weapon for free, but that's $5 for the Prothean and his mission.
Sounds like a deal breaker at this juncture....
No fool, you get the stuff free anyway. You have the OPTION of getting the rest. Don't turn away my generosity.

I disagree. Both EA and Bioware have in the past been forced to respond to such community outrage.
After all, they're asking us for our money, they aren't entitled to it. If the integrity of their business practices doesn't matter to them, their bottom line certainly does.

Who cares when it was done? This was done post-certification. What the arguement here - Is it day 1 DLC or is it that it's a Prothean?

I'm more inclined to believe someone working in the industry than some forum members. Can you provide dev insight that states the opposite?
He wrote it almost three years ago. I'm not a dev, I'm a IT consultant for various gaming companies (among others) with over 10 years experiance. I've already said as much as I legally can without breaking ND.
Which is what you'll find most of the devs that are still employed saying too.
I really don't care what you say you do. I want to see dev insight into all these doom and gloom scenarios that are being talked about. I don't know much about game development and would be interested to see the "reality" that many are complaining about and I would rather here it from someone in the industry.

Well it's been fun you all, be safe out there. All I have to say is if you're pissed, there is another way to send a message without depriving yourself of playing the game. Just do this:
1) At first, just rent the game from a service like Gamefly. They've already bought whatever copies they're going to buy.
2) Later on, as used copies start becoming available, buy a used copy and pay the $10 to get the Prothy. That way you're only providing $10 directly to Bioware as opposed to $70 to them and their retailers.
Not really an option for us PC gamers - and I really don't want to screw Bioware out of money, I still appreciate the work they did. I just don't much care for this situation.
Thats why I'm going to buy ME 3 new and this is last time... I get a bioware game new have not made my mind to buy the DLC ... Might just get a Double Whopper meal or a Chipotle Burritto insteand depends on my mood.
Sucks for the people are Bioware because I know those guys work hard and they may have to suffer because some bone head higher up.

Hey guys...long time ME fans, if you pre-ordered the CE, then theres nothing to worry about...you get this DLC included with your purchase price!!
To those who oppose DLC like this...dont buy it!! Problem solved.
To those who wanted a CE, but tried to get it to late, but really, really want this DLC, then pay $10 and its yours!!!
i mean dang...there really shouldnt be any complaints over this besides possible content disappointment, and since NONE of us have it yet, we cant possibly be disappointed yet.
Agreed.

They have responded, and it continues to be disregarded because the only thing that is going to "fix" it is if it becomes free.

I for one opt-out of this madness by purchasing only the cheapest, regular version and getting over the nagging "missing out"-feeling by enjoying the game as I get it. In multi-player, skill and training counts more than gimmicks anyway ;-p

If by completing post-completion they could easily release it as part of the core game, then yes it is.

Yep they did responded... absolutely right...
my response its not buy their games new anymore and give then fact they already trying to find a why incentives new sales over used. They did a great job of driving away this customer to that... and I hate Gamestop... I used to work them...

I bought Witcher 2. I had so much fun and future dlcs for free. And now they release xbox version with bonus content and guess what. I will have it for free too. And not mentioned the fact that classic edition of the game (soundtrack game guide map, bonus content..) looks like CE from different studios. And Witcher is really really good game with great story, adult charakters based on books and famous graphics.
I bought Mass effect 3. I have read spoilers from the game, that are direct from Bioware. This spoilers ruined my game experience. I read that i will not have dlc with protean witch is core in mass effect universe. I look at normal edition of the game (only CD with some advertisment) and it looks like sh*t in comarission with Witcher 2 . I hear crapy excuse of developing dlc after the game, and i know that is not true because of dlcs content and text leaked mounts ago.
Reaction :I cancel my preorder copy of ME3 and I am not alone. (saddly because i love ME unniverse). Really not alone.
This is stupid marketing model. Fans are sensitive and they dont like being lied and not respected.

The issue with that is pretty much everyone who is against the DLC want the Prothean (not even the mission, or anything else, just the character) because it's important to them to have it. They want to hear the lore that he can provide.
They don't care what the alternatives are. Since it will be available by launch (technically ready now), they want it and for free, as they feel that anything made during the development process (whether it was done during development or post-development, and no matter the amound of work done then) should be provided free of charge in addition to what they payed for the retail game. Without the additional content, the game will feel incomplete and be missing a critical piece that affects the enjoyment of the game.

So... if you're able to defend your rights (which you should be able to anyway), shouldn't the people who do support Bioware and the DLC be able to defend theirs (which they should be able to do as well)?
are you suggesting that ivent been supporting bioware all this ages just because im against of this outrageous manner from EA /bioware?
