So... where does this "prothy is an CE exclusive and SE owners should be grateful that they can buy it" is coming from? because that's a really bold claim, and I'm not seeing anything that justifies it.

That is in no way relevant. What is relevant is what he is saying.

Nothing in this topic is, or has been, relevant to anything since the first post. It's all back-and-forth namecalling and whining, with no actual drive or purpose besides complaining.

Yuoaman has been one of the most cordial, level headed individuals in this thread.  Him and I butt-heads now and again, but it's always been in a calm manner and is usually a good discussion on what the subject is.

I agree, but come on, lighten up a bit.  Heck, the guy even points it out himself.  That being said and no disrespect to the people who take their time to put on videos on Youtube, I really don't need anyone else's opinion to figure out where I stand on this matter.

Ok thanks, I'm not going to read that and I can't even remember what our argument is about, but let me get on tract to my main point here;

What do you gain from paying extra money to bioware for content that has been free in every other game in history that i know of. Games used to ship with all thier content, but we consumers are allowing that to change by supporting content to be fragmented from that game and sold for an extra fee, wheter it be DLC or Collectors Editions. Content that is available before lanuch should be included in the game. A complany saying that it is not meant to be in the standard game is not justification for withholding contet for an extra fee. The only reason I am on this forum is to try to get people make smarter purcahasing decisions so that these practices do not become the norm in the future. But for some reason people are offened by this. It is baffeling. The company exists to make money and dose not care about you. If they can get away with selling the full game at $70 then it makes sense for them to do it because they make more money. That is what is happening with ME3 and the only way to stop this from happening is to not support companies who have adopted these policies.

What do people gain from defending a price hike on these games? Why do people defend the idea that witholding content for extra $. I am being as nice as possible about this, not here to offend. I would like to understand these peoples thoughts. I do not wish for this to become a flame war. I am trying, most likey in vain, for this to be productive.

No, the items exclusive to that edition are listed as exclusives.  Those that aren't weren't listed as such.

No, because it's a CE special character.  Bioware has decided that since there is such demand for the content, that they would make it available to all who want it, thus changed it from exclusive to an added dlc.

The CE owners paid for it, thus should the SE owners.  IMO that is perfectly fine.

prothy isn't a CE special character, it wasn't an exclusive and I have reasons to think that CE owners are getting the DLC at no cost and is up to SE owners to pay up the development cost.

So let me get this straight, CE owners pre-order their copies with the promise of an additional character and mission with the extra $10-$20 that we pay. And you want this for free? We are paying extra for the content as that is WHAT was advertised, you don't like it, go out and buy the collector's edition if you can find one. Eitherway, people need to realize that nobody gets anything for free anymore and for you to demand something for free when others have to pay for it is just plain arrogant and selfish.

BTW, if CE owners were getting it for free, then the Collector's Edition would be the same price as the Standard Edition.

Read the entire thread and you'll see me posting the proof multiple times as well as several others. If you won't look it up yourself; if you don't look up the facts and have real counterpoints besides "They're wrong because I say so", which is really how you're coming off, then don't expect anyone to consider your opinion as anything more than invalid.

It is very naive to automatically accept that a company always tells the truth, but it is equally naive to believe that a company is trying to screw you based on nothing beyond the fact that you do not like something regardless of it's legitimacy.

I don't see any "exclusive downloadable character and mission" in there, and your "was originally planned" is worth nothing, since you don't have anything that says it's exclusive in first place.
Just because you bought a CE you think everything in there should be an exclusive?

To be fair, this is correct.

To also be fair, the CE lists that it has an additional squadmember and mission. It's right there. From Ashes is part of the CE pack, and it's available for everyone if they want to buy it. I don't understand why people are mad. Because they aren't getting it like the CEs are? Big deal, that was one of CEs many selling points. Because it's a big part of the lore? Sure, that's a valid reason, but at the same time it doesn't justify making it free for everyone.

No, we weren't apparently.  You're reasoning it was intended for the CE to be an exclusive.  It wasn't.  Just like how the comic book was released way before we received this image (I think), and that the Normandy Avatar item and such were made separate.

It wasn't intended to be an exclusive, but to be DLC for everyone.  Just the code was prepackaged with the CE.

The whole point is, regardless of the other content, nothing in that image says it was originally to be exclusive, now if it had stated "exclusive squad and mission DLC" then people have an argument, currently it's up in the air.
