Is not silly, BioWare choosed to resurrect a race that's pivotal to ME lore, is pretty natural to think that is going to be for a pretty good reason. Of course, BioWare played with the idea and ended dropping it.

But is not silly to think that.

Yes, I would prefer that since to me story > multiplayers.  As for the shadow broker, it came much further down the line and was not desgned to spite the consumer, so it was ok in my book.  Like the forbes article said, these companies will continue to push the envelope in terms of what they can get away with.  I say we push back and keep them in line.

ya see we both can agree on the switch but guess what now the mp fans are in here posting stuff the much same to what is being said now. Honestly the DLC will never go free because CE people already paid for it and haveing all theses different companys do a 10 dollars back or off to thouse people would just be a nightmare more so then just chargeing 10 bucks to any SE fan that just has to have the pro. which isnt required.

I haven't seen much criticism. I've seen willful misinformation, entitlement and half-baked arguments. Ohh, and name calling, but that's from both sides of the fence.

Which reminds me: we're better than this. Let's all act civil.

Actually, all those are from both sides of the fence.  So far neither side has really presented much of an argument for their cause.

Okay, let me post this again, then. It was a response to odo's comment a few pages back

DLC is always planned beforehand. Some of it is stuff that was cut from the core game during the design process for various reasons, and was later polished and repurposed as DLC. This is not some epic evil
conspiracy, this is strandard modern game design. Read this if you want to learn more: the guy who wrote it is a game developer himself.

Also, the MP does replace Zaeed as new purchase incentive. Don't believe me? Check out this ME3 unboxing video on YouTube - uploaded by BioWare. I'm not writing a full script here, but basically: There's an online pass, which allows you to play the 4 player co-op MP: if you buy used, you won't be able to
play "the co-op the multiplayer the full game" [0:57].

And again, you're not entitled to free stuff just because you think you are. The game has gone Gold, ie. it has passed Certification, ergo, it is a complete game. Half-finished products don't pass Certifiation.

Your turn.

ME2 didn't have MP. Without Cerberus, you don't get Zaeed. Cerberus comes with new copies, or else purchased for $20. It grants you a bunch of DLC. Any way you cut it, if you buy used, to get the "free DLC", you gotta pay $20.

Um... hate to break it to you but my ME 2 only cost $15 new, so....  not seeing it, sorry.

Um, we could start with how, based on previous games, his very existance would totally shift the balence of power for every Citidel race?

Right, who cares about political, economic and military strength when there is a PROTHEAN.

Patches and DLC... apples and oranges...

Patch = fixing stuff that is already in the game

DLC = adding completely new content to the game

That's another point this release better be completely bug free b/c if they spent all this time rushing out day 1 dlc and didn't do the proper fine tuning I think many ppl will be upset.

An by completely new content you mean the stuff they leaked last year?  Day 1 dlc is not new content it is premade and designed to be reasled as a boost to revenue on day 1 sales.  That is wrong in my book.

you know with the uproar the pro has caused I cant help but wounder what if they had brought a member of the race before them back some one we knew nothing about at all that would have all this new lore to share ya seems like that would have made people crazy just shareing my thought.

Well thats not entirely true lets keep facts stright here.

This charater is in the game helping you out thought the game regaurdless if you have the DLC or not. He only joins you as a squad member if you have the dlc.

This DLC also unlocks a related mission to said charater, a new weapon and skins for all your crew.

No ultimately then the question is thus:

If the mission and diologue with this fellow is important that you don't see without the DLC why is it not in the game or free?

if its short and unimportant but merely flavor why is it 10 bucks?

Either way something isn't right.

"Hey, what if he's like Shale?  You know, interesting side-character who adds depth to the lore, but whose presence isn't critical to the story.  What about that?"

And I've had several people comment:

"No, because he's a PROTHEAN.  That means he either MUST be critical or he's a stain on the writing!"

It boggles my mind that because he's a Prothean, he HAS to be of dire import.

Um, we could start with how, based on previous games, his very existance would totally shift the balence of power for every Citidel race?   It the entire reaper thing was not going on, this would be the bigget event going on in the galaxy?  Remember that that majority of people not in power still think the protheans built all this mass effect stuff?  And that the protheans were by far more technologically advanced then any living species?

The fact thath te hanar would consider him a living God alone would be a serious issue.

That argument only holds water if this were ME1 or 2, where the Protheans both had a role in the overall game.  In ME3?  They don't.  In fact, the quota of relevance the Protheans had was spent back in 2.

Casey Hudson himself said the Prothean isn't important to the plot.  And before you claim Casey is lying/misleading, I'll point out the fact the game is less than 2 weeks from release.  Two.  Weeks.  There's no motivation to lie.

Yes, You got it for $15 NEW. If you buy it USED, you need to purchase a $15 Cerberus Network code to get the "free Zaeed and other stuff" DLC. in fact, I went back and bolded where I said IF YOU BUY IT USED.

Edit: Looking again, it's now $15. Huh. Still, there's an additional price for the "free" DLC in addition to a USED cost.

Well CE purchaser are all ready getting somethings so all that needs to be addessed is giving them furture dlc for free.  Hell, imagine if you get credit towards the next shadow broker type dlc.  It be worth more than the 10 the bucks imo.

I am not cancelling my pre-order just because I have left money they won't give me back but this is a s***load of crap. Just like it was Zaeed difference here is that you can beat the game without zaeed and kasumi without losing huge portion of narrative here it doesn't seem to be possible.

You do realize the people working on the DLC and the people working on bug fixing are completely different, right?

As for the rest, please read my answer to BaronIveagh above.

In all seriousness, why are people throwing such **** fits over this? I don't remember this kind of crap over Shale and Sebastian.

...In more important news, Prothy needs a name that starts with an S.

I gambled and bought the CE. I didn't know about the Prothean. My gamble paid off - and now that it's been made a Day-1 DLC in stead of CE exclusive, people are complaining they should be getting him for free.

How's that fair in any shape or form?

but you bought the CE, your money went into getting the CE, not into getting a new character only.

Prothy wasn't a CE exclusive, in no place is stated as such. This is really BioWare's fault for not being forthcoming about it and that the character would be included in a future DLC, so you could choose between getting the CE or the DLC, no doubt so people will jump into the CE bandwagon.

I read that link, it was written almost 3 years ago and does not match my own experiances in the Industry.  AS EA demanded the multi-player as part of corporate policy, I don't see how it 'replaces' anything.

And, sadly, unfinished games have, in fact, been certified and gone gold.

So, again, convincing argument?
