Yeah I know...

Is this a sign of just...well...the fact that we debated and yelled and screamed for four days straight that we really care about this game so much?

And there's the thing.  This game series wouldn't exist without Bioware's genius... thus even if they aren't doing things exactly how you personally (not you personally, just a general reference to anyone reading this lol) would... we should all appreciate the great quality product that they have made for everyone!

I purchased the CE myself... even without the dlc, I know it would literally be getting HUNDREDS of hours of entertainment out of this game, just as I had the previous 2.  The additional content didn't make me think twice about locking up my CE back in July.

Where else can you spend $60 for the SE or $80 for the CE and get that kind of return on investment in the entertainment market?

I spend $70/seat for hockey tickets for a 2 and a half hour game, which I then have to pay $8 for a beer!

This is a AAA quality game that will give hundreds of hours of gaming entertainment that is at the same price as most of the other crap games people are still paying $60 for!

This is still such a spectacular value for the dollar it's crazy!  I am more than appreciative for the value.

Those things were never in question. I just wanted to keep the company I care about honest.

You laugh but if the media get involved hom much back peddling will be done?

I do hope to God that the media doesn't get involved.

Too late. There is already an article up on the forbes website.  It's actually pretty good.

It is because of what you know now that you can confidently state that it was a real leak and that the "Prothean squadmate/adventure" was the DLC mentioned in the CE offer all along. But had they come out with a different DLC altogether you might have attributed it to a fluke or to another piece of DLC in the works. If, however, you claim that should Bioware have announced another DLC for the CE you would have screamed, "treason!", then they would have probably informed you, rightly so, that the "Prothean squadmate/adventure" was never officially confirmed to be a part of the CE.

@ EVILELF007

EXACTLY. I paid 65 bucks for me1 and got...oh, around 200 hours plus out of it. I paid 65 bucks for me2 and got..oh about 300 hours out of it.

I wonder how many hours I will get out of me3...I can gaurantee it will EASILY be in the triple digits. Oh? And MP as well? Make that quadruple digits.

Look at other games that charge the same price; that one uncharted game, 65 bucks for what? 10 hours? Maybe?

I'm getting value from from my ME3 CE edition, plain and simple.

And dont give me that quanity over quality bull****. I'm tired of that argument. There's no reason why I can't have both (for example, SKYRIM and, well, now ME3.

Ah, the voice of reason!

I've basically been on the fence in this whole dillemia. Even though I have the CE, I understand why people are so angry about this.

And my rant about corporations is due to my hatred of Corporate America.

You and I have a very different idea of what is and isn't honest.

Advertising additional content above and beyond for the CE from day one, and then following through with it, yet allowing SE buyers to join the fun by making the biggest piece of that content available to buy online...

IMO there is absolutely nothing dishonest in that.

Hat tip to ArkkAngel for credible information on what was development-ready when. He totally deflated my conspiracy theory that the content was developed as part of the game then cut. He pulled off the icing on the cake, but the cake still stands: Is it okay to have valuable story-related (or backstory-related) content withheld from the game to be charged extra for. Notice I did NOT say "critical", "important", "plot significant", or even "information". The key here is valuable story-related content. To me it seems whether it was internally or externally labeled as "DLC" is irrelevant. What matters is it's content valuable for the story, ready on day of launch.

Of course someone will ask (and have asked), do you want them to intentionally delay content if it's ready on launch day, just to avoid the stigma of being called Day 1 DLC? I say that choice is up to them. If it's released when the game is then it will enrich the gaming experience. If it's not released, then the game will still be rich, just not AS rich. So it's up to the developer what they want to put forward on release day.

This. Except for your Uncharted comparison, if you can get a good value for your dollar, why not spend a little extra? Sure, the DLC might only last 5 hours, but I've played my ME2 DLC about 4 or 5 times now. That's like 20-25 hours for the character DLC. That is not a bad price.

It was pretty clear through their actions that it was the truth.  I doubt anyone on BioWare marketing would accidently write in Prothean.  The leaks that came soon after confirmed that truth, so I've basically been waiting for the bomb to drop.

And if it wasn't a part of the CE, and I received someone else, I wouldn't have cared.  I'm still getting another hour or two of game I was told I was paying for.

I just am bothered by the way the day 1 DLC was handled, because now only SE owners are being informed, and that the actual content is something important to these fans.

I'm risking flame, but I don't see what's the issue if the DLC is free. I'm not saying the it should be free, but I don't see why it can't be free, or at least not 1/6 of the full game price.

People who bought the CE bought just that, the Collection Edition, you didn't fork $20 for an additional squadmate only, you did it for get the CE. Of course that if BioWare tricked you into thinking that prothy was a CE exclusive and the only way to get it was by buying the CE is BioWare's fault and part of this whole problem.

edit: oh darn it, right at the top of the page, I was hoping to be in a less shiny spot.

The price of the DLC is calculated into the price of CE, essentially we paid for it and thus we are getting it.

That's an arbitrary assumption, I could easily say that Collector's edition includes the DLC at no cost, because BioWare is being nice or just wants to encourage CE buys without making it more expensive. After all CE buyers are the minority and exploiting the SE is where the real profit is.

We know the CE gets:

Fabric Patch, Avatar item(s) (Xbox 360 only), From Ashes, N7 Weapons, Alternate Appearance pack (Ash/Alenko/Vega/Liara), Soundtrack, Robopup, Artbook, Litho, Comic, Forum items. All that for $20 extra. So it will never be agreed upon which of the CE stuff is "Free" and which is part of the $20 extra cost.

The whole "valuable story-related" is just as subjective as using the words "critical", "important", ect. Just because some BSNer's seem to consider so doesn't make it true especially since Bioware has said that the DLC is not required to complete or for that matter enjoy the ME3 experince. People are making a huge deal about this because of what they perceive to be true even though Bioware has stated to the contary and they are the one's whole created the ME3 story and DLC.
