400?

Nope, but this is. It's 25 posts/page, so it was not hard to work out when it would be. ;)

The price of the DLC is calculated into the price of CE, essentially we paid for it and thus we are getting it.

That's an arbitrary assumption, I could easily say that Collector's edition includes the DLC at no cost, because BioWare is being nice or just wants to encourage CE buys without making it more expensive. After all CE buyers are the minority and exploiting the SE is where the real profit
is.

We know the CE gets:

Fabric Patch, Avatar item(s) (Xbox 360 only), From Ashes, N7 Weapons, Alternate Appearance pack (Ash/Alenko/Vega/Liara), Soundtrack, Robopup, Artbook, Litho, Comic, Forum items. All that for $20 extra. So it will never be agreed upon which of the CE stuff is "Free" and which is part of the $20 extra cost.

Personally, I consider all of it to be part of the additional cost. Are there people that purchased the CE and do not?

If a CE is advertised with X additional content over the standard edition (which, for argument's sake, contains the game + multiplayer access), then, in my opinion at least, you're paying for X.

at this rate this could be BSN's first four-digit page count thread!

Too late. That's been accomplished already.

oh god I can't imagine. HA. I doubt very much if Mr. Gamble replies he'll say "I read all 400 pages of this thread." it was hard enough to fathom him reading 96 pages of a constantly expanding thread. but 400???

EDIT: wow a few seconds shy of being the first on 400. oh well maybe I'll get the first on 500?

Did you see the ME3 Code thread on February 11th? That thread was comparible to this one.

...yeah, I got a code, which is why you asked me how I was playing the Demo early.....

Not really, some people in this world are upset just because they want to be upset.  They enjoy ranting.  Inserting logic doesn't stop mindless ranting.

Heh, yeah...

And people that got the CE (like me) seem to be getting their extra money's worth. I understand with the people who didn't get it are so mad.

And yeah, 400!

I think we agreed that it isn't cut content, I still think is a cash grab.

Hat tip to ArkkAngel for credible information on what was development-ready when. He totally deflated my conspiracy theory that the content was developed as part of the game then cut. He pulled off the icing on the cake, but the cake still stands: Is it okay to have valuable story-related (or backstory-related) content withheld from the game to be charged extra for. Notice I did NOT say "critical", "important", "plot significant", or even "information". The key here is valuable story-related content. To me it seems whether it was internally or externally labeled as "DLC" is irrelevant. What matters is it's content valuable for the story, ready on day of launch.

Of course someone will ask (and have asked), do you want them to intentionally delay content if it's ready on launch day, just to avoid the stigma of being called Day 1 DLC? I say that choice is up to them. If it's released when the game is then it will enrich the gaming experience. If it's not released, then the game will still be rich, just not AS rich. So it's up to the developer what they want to put forward on release day.

The whole "valuable story-related" is just as subjective as using the words "critical", "important", ect. Just because some BSNer's seem to consider so doesn't make it true especially since Bioware has said that the DLC is not required to complete or for that matter enjoy the ME3 experince. People are making a huge deal about this because of what they perceive to be true even though Bioware has stated to the contary and they are the one's whole created the ME3 story and DLC.

Do you think Bioware would come out and say the DLC is REQUIRED for a complete experience?  Of course not, they are going to try and tell you it's not, full well knowing fans of the series are going to be like "I HAVE to have that" and fork over the cash.
Wish I could find the post, but someone else said it best - the word "complete" is very subjective.  In the future companies can just keep lowering and lowering the bar, each time calling it "complete" but if you want the full experience that will be more.
There will be no way to know for sure how much story-related content the "DLC" brings to the table until March 6th.

A cash grab on a game that is so high on the great value chart, even AFTER that so called cash grab...

Sorry, can't sell me on Bioware being greedy when there is clearly so much more time/thought/effort/depth to their product vs the other crap that's out there.

I ordered my Collector's Edition in June (6/7/2011) so I have confidence it won't get cancelled by GameStop. Also, the CE for this game is way better value per dollar than the CE for, say, KoA, which was $100, or the CE for AC:R which was $100...or the CoD Collector's Editions, or the Halo 3 one...a lot of content for far less money.

Yes, I believe that is something that everyone can agree on.  We've also pretty much come to the consensus that choosing a Prothean to be the DLC wasn't the smartest move either.
