I still think that everybody complaining does not realize IT IS OPTIONAL. It will be like Zaeed and yes I know it is very important to the Mass Effect lore because of who the squadmate is but still IT IS OPTIONAL, the MAIN story will not be altered by not having him.

Why is everyone upset? Prothey brings nothing new to the game. What, do you expect him to show up with the perfect Reaper killing weapon? If it was perfect, why didn't they use it in the first place? Would he tell us some super awesome secret about the Reapers? We're going to kill them, who cares what kind of giant underpants they wear. Prothey is literally just a fan item. You don't need him. And if his Jamacian accent proves to be real, you won't want him in the first place. Get over this "I'm entitled to everything" syndrome and just be excited to see how your Shepard fares in the last chapter. Geez...

Best ive read sofar in this thread and it describes the complainers very well. there mad becouse they have to pay for something that we also had to pay for. when really they should be thankfull for getting it at all, oh and by the way. also for not having to wait for it, but accually beeing able to get it from day 1.

complaining cus you dont get something for free, something that others paid for!!! is just selfish and greedy.

Some companies have proven that it's possible to release DLC for free (excluding X360 because of MS policy). Even bigger than those released by BW.

The content in “From Ashes” was developed by a separate team (after the core game was finished) and not completed until well after the main game went into certification.

The Collectors Edition has been sold out in most places for some time now, and is becoming very hard to find (many players prefer not to purchase the digital version). As such, we wanted to make this content available so that SE buyers could also incorporate the Prothean into their game.

It was very considerate of EA to remove content from the game for marketing purposes. I feel loved and appreciated.  So loved and appreciated, in fact, that I'm going to rush out to my nearest licensed EA distributor and pick up a shiny new copy of the Mass Effect 3 Collector's Edition!  Hell, I'll buy two so I'll feel twice as lucky to be part of a target demographic!

Hey guys, I've got a great idea for your next game: don't make one! Just put a box and a marketing campaign out, but keep the disc. You'll save manufacturing and production costs, and fans will be oh-so-happy that you've let the legacy of Mass Effect rest!

No. We expected him to reveal some more background information on a species incredibly important to the species that plays a central role throughout the series.. And goddamn it is NOT a Jamaican accent, it's African.

So what, people who don't order the collectors edition can't be real fans? I love the series but I wasn't overly impressed with the collector's edition bonuses themselves, so I decided to save some of my hard earned money and just get the regular edition. And now you decide that since I didn't want some art book I'll look at once and a bunch of frivolous cosmetic additions, I don't get access to a fricken Prothean character?! I mean it'd be perfectly fine if it was some random guy like Zaeed, but Prothean?! Could people who preordered at least get some kind of discount on this? You claim that "real fans" buy CE, but what does that make people who preorder the regular edition, fake fans?

how about make a CE about things that people want to COLLECT like artwork, soundtrack, a stupid patch, figurines, scale models, etc.
and NOT about characters and missions in a game?

I ordered the CE and the only thing I'm ticked off about is the fact that Bioware apparently didn't think a ****ing Prothean was important enough to be anything other than DLC.

...or he is, and they just decided to milk us for another $10.

I bought the CE and I'm fine.  The patch and comicbook were alright, but minor bits of swag.  I mean, I bought ME2 CE for the art book, the tin, and of course the bonus in-game items.

I mean really, the most expensive things in the CE are the artbook, the lithograph, and the DLC.

Those are (ironically) the things I really care about.

it's different. Shale, Zaeed, and Sebastian are all free to download and not really that important in lore and story.  But this protheam makes me feel like cutting Zevran from Origins or Merril from Dragon Age II and asking you to pay more money.

Sebastian was not free.

Ok, I forget what I got is signature editon. But still sebastian is just a minor character and very different from this prothean in lore.

The argument of "not having a prothean in the main game" is criminal because it deprives you of your ability to find out interesting backstory that has little or no relevance at all to the plot of the actual game you have purchased but only to flesh out the overall mythos is exactly what they are talking about when they mention entitlement.

I was going to mention this several pages back, but a) no one would care to address it probably and b)for those that would address it, I did not want to get into a giant writing debate.

But yes, the definition is spot-on.

I pre-ordered the CE already and I still think that the Prothean character should be available to everyone. The part I'm kinda ticked about is that the "From Dust" DLC includes something that isn't in the CE too (the alt costumes for the squad different from the CE ones) which means that those of us that shelled out the extra $$ for the CE have to pay again and buy this DLC in order to get them. They are making us pay for something twice to get everything that is available at launch...

They should make those costumes a separate DLC and sell it for less and reduce the cost of the "From Dust" DLC by $2 or so that way everyone has the option to get everything and not have to double dip...
