Here's my issue with my fellow opposers. Public refusal to acknowledge facts present, dismissing any additional information provided, using personal assumptions and emotional bearings as facts, calling anyone that either tries to make a correction to your argument or that disagrees with you a biodrone or sheep...that isn't selling our argument against this thing.
All we have really to go on is a) the situation was handled poorly, as is very apparent andpast behavior of EA in relations to BioWare.
The only present itemsd, outside of what BioWare and Microsoft provided, we have are the audio files and the script. The audio files only indicate VO work was done during development like Kasumi and only SurKesh banter was included. The script indicates he isn't in the main game, yet Merizan "hinted" that he is. As such, while the majority of the evidence points that he was never in the game and isn't, we can't be 100% sure that he is or not. We just know that the content in the DLC wouldn't have been in the main game.
This isn't a personal attack on anyone. I know most are hoping for the best case scenerio with this situation, and just are trying to be realistic on the potential consequences. I'm just saying that a lot of arguments on here need to have a change in tact and content if they want to sell their argument.
This^
Unfortunetly, while we can't say for certain that they're lying, we also have no reason to belive them either at this point, however. There has been too much abuse of trust from Bioware.
If he is in the main game, though, and only avalible as a squadmate via DLC, frankly I see it being a PR ****storm at this point.

Steep Decline?
considering they just added three studios in the past two years, are now working on Command and Conquer Geneals 2, and have become one of the fasting growing and critically acclaimed game studios under EA, I find it very hard to take that seriously.
They are growing in numbers thanks to EA, but they are in decline as a independent, integre, creative team.
EA: I disolved Westwood but no problem I can make Bioware do the next C&C HAHA. Hey Bioware, come over here? You never made a RTS? WHATEVER MAN JUST DO IT LOL"
Bioware: Yes master.

Actually, no. The only one throwing insults has been you - and yes, I did read what everyone else in your particular pyramid said. You are the one that's unfortunately being disrespectful at this moment, when everyone else is only replying with an opposing point of view you don't seem to like.

So...cba to read through 400 odd pages of whining so I'll just ask now. Has there been any official word from either BIOWARE or EA regarding the uproar?
I would'nt classify it as a uproar, its 400 pages of the same people mostly, talking in circles. I would say a spectacle.

Sorry to burst your hyperbole bubble but you have no evidence at all suggesting that those in favor of this DLC are a small minority however switching sides there is larger evidence to suggest more people are buying ME3 than past two titles. You may be leaving the franchise and spending youre money elsewhere but quite honestly it appears with regards to ME3 more new fans are being created than lost.
True that you never see the knock on effect till the game after.
I'm sure once ME3 is released we can get into the old sold vs sold through again.

And hell, Mass Effect and Dragion Age have generated a combined total of around $10 Million dollars to the company, and in EA's pockets. Thats triple the amount we see from Pandemic, which got dissolved, and double the amount from Visceral and DICE.
I might point out that Bioware has ceased expanding and many other studios in EA are activly laying off. While this is not 'steep decline' it also does not bode well for EA or Bioware in the long run. Further, we're likely to see layoffs at Bioware if the activision/EA suit goes badly for EA. A half billion dollars is not a sum to be sneezed at.
True, but the EA/Activision Suit will likely be settled out of court in EAs favor, since Activision has no real proof that EA helped the guys from Infinity Ward breach their contract, plus its important to point out the fact that Activision did it upon themselves on that one.
But you are right that studios have been hit hard in EA. The problem is its a massive company and all of the subsidiaries it has can be cropped up and form new studios overnight if need be. But, Myzuka is now an EA board member I believe, which. gives BioWare a some pull in regards to game development and publication direction. Also need to keep in mind that EA has over 7,000 employees across over 2 dozen studios, most of which are without Brand Name Recognition anymore, falling like Black Box did (Now its EA BlackBox, for example).
If anything, BioWare is beating the odds

My thought was that if we're Biodrones, that means when the machines take over, they'll recognize us as fellow machines. We'll be safe, thank goodness. So I guess there is a silver lining!

I think its a case of a Prothean character originally being planned and the scrapped, and then a different and less important Prothean character being created for use as DLC.BaronIveagh wrote...

The Prothean as it stands now was never going to be a part of the main game. The Prothean detailed in the first few scripts has been left on the cutting room floor. A pity if you ask me - I don't mind the day 1 DLC (even with the £8 it adds to the game, you can buy it cheaper than the RRP on places like Amazon) - but I don't think a Prothena should've been relegated to DLC. I think its a bit of a wasted opportunity.

But if it did happen, it won't be because of optional DLC.
