First you say that you are not so sure whether the costs of the DLC is covered in the CE price and then you go on to say that you would like something exclusive not available for others. Yeah it's available to others if they pay more, just like you pay more for CE. In both cases, the only way of getting it is by paying more then the standard.

And please do get of your high horse. Who are you to tell me what I should do with my money! If I have the money to spend and I like being ripped off that's my problem not yours. If you think it's a scam then great, avoid it, don't spend your money.

There goes hopefully ... What we say and argue here will NEVER persuade anyone . I will not make you see it my way, and the other way around. You can do what ever you want with your money ,and you can have what opinion you want. See here is where you get defensive . Where did i tell you what to do with your money ?

As for the 2nd part of the when i am thinking of exclusive i want something i can hold onto it , something physical . Not smth everyone will have in a few months ...

The path this day 1 dlc is going will be bad for all of us ... ok well most of us ( the ones that don't **** money ) .

They don't email you a code, it's just tied to your account.  I love Amazon - I got my CE there for $50.  For every 4-5 games I order there, I basically get a free one.

I'm not being defensive I'm just pointing out flaws in your reasoning. If you think it's a scam great, then leave it at that. There's no point in coming here and acting like it is a scam. Don't tell me that I like being ripped off, make assumptions which are false or unproven and then go on to make a point based on those assumptions.

I'm just shocked that this is a surprise to anyone like it's a radical idea or something.  Heck, Bioware has done it already with Warden's Keep and The Exiled Prince.  It's pretty much become industry standard to release day 1 DLC.  Typically, they are only small things to add to the game, at least this is something substantial.  Even worse is when the DLC is merely an unlock code and the content is on the disc.  Those are ones that I get pissed off about.

BTW, Buy.com offers $20 store credits for mass effect 3 standard edition. You basically can order a 1600 MS points card using the credits and download the dlc.

Going back a few 100 pages to where people were saying that ME3 pre-orders were below EA's targets, I saw this earlier.

Mass Effect 3 pre-orders smash targets

EA's space-age campaign has already had an astronomical effect, with pre-orders placing ‘well ahead’ of where the publisher was at the same point with Mass Effect 2.

The publisher has been sending weather balloons into space with copies of the new game and GPS devices attached to them. Consumers can track their movements on the Mass Effect website and try to find them when they land.

On top of this, Electronic Arts is building a ‘triple-A campaign’ to support the game, the publisher told MCV.

"TV, cinema, online, print and outdoor activity will help capture the mainstream audience," said EA product manager Will Graham.

"For the core Mass Effect fan, we’ve been building on the immersive nature of the game with a host of trailers, social media activity and fan site activation.

"Currently our pre-orders have broken the targets set, we are well ahead of where we were at the same point with Mass Effect 2 and we have all of the platforms aligned for launch, which is a first for the Mass Effect franchise," Graham added.

"Mass Effect 3 follows on from a 96 Metacritic-rated game and everything suggests that the third iteration in the franchise is going to have the same, if not better, quality."

I don't think Bioware has done that since Wardens Keep though, at least based on my observations. Most of the stuff that I have seen with BioWares day one DLC is that it was optional content, rather than in-game content.

I am refering to content on the disc, for clarification.

I get free games from them too, but that's manly because I have their Credit Card (their interest rate suck, but I always pay it off in full). So, I tend to rack up Amazon points quite often. Although, a tip about their card is to never use the points towards their Shopping Cart.. It's best to redeem the points toward the Credit Card balance. Why? Because, free stuff doesn't earn you points. And using their card on their site earns you 3x points.

The Exiled Prince, although that was a little bit different.  That was if you preordered the game by a certain date it was free, otherwise it was $7.  That date was a couple of months prior to release so a lot of people still missed it.  There was outrage here over that as well.

I wanted to stop by and gently remind folks on here raging about an extra ten dollers for video game content that lasts forever with a few of the following things :

A value meal at McDonald's is between six and eight bucks
A foot long sub at subway will run you roughly seven dollers unless it's a five dollar footlong
A steak burger and fries at a local chain restaurant like ruby Tuesday's or applebees will run you between nine to twelve dollars

All of these things are optional purchases that you don't need. They will run you roughly around the same cost as this dlc. And unlike this dlc, they're all only able to be enjoyed once, maybe twice if you take some home.

It's an optional purchase offered for roughly the same amount as lunch. You can either buy it, or choose not to. No one will judge you if you choose to save your money and eat at home. Just don't get mad at the company for offering it, nor those folks on the bus tour who are eating for free. They aren't. They payed in advanced.

That however was also not on disc, at least from what I understand. I could be wrong.

Plus that date was changed, if you recall they made any preorder copies of Dragon Age II fully upgraded to the Signature Edition, so everyone who preordered game got the content for free.

Regardless, what we have for our prothean friend here is not the same case, it has been proven already he was a DLC addition,so it was planned extra content from the start.

What? The Credit Card or the Bonus offer?
The bonus Offer is for all the versions of ME3, except that the Collectors edition is only available as a Download.

As for the Credit Card... it's for everything. 1 dollar equals 1 points. Plus, you get 3x the points when using the card at Amazon. 2x the points for Gas, Office supplies, Drug Stores or Resturants. And 1x towards everything else.... But as I said before, the interest rate is outrageous. It's like 18-24% or whatever they are at now. I mean my credit is about flawless, and they still gave me the highest interest. Last year they kicked it down to 18%, but 18% still is pretty bad. But, I imagine if you apply you'll get one in the 20+% range. Oh and when I signed up they gave me a 25 dollar credit. Don't know if they are still doing that, though. Don't even know if the card is still being offered.

Oh.. and 1 dollar equals 100 points when it comes to redeeming. The amount need to transfering points towards your credit card's balance is 5,000 points,  equalling a 50 dollar credit. However, you can redeem points towards Amazon's shopping cart, whenever you like. But , you'll lose out on the 3x bonus towards whatever the discount is. Can't earn points on dollar amounts that aren't  charged towards the credit card, afterall.

That's the reason i think digital CE is pointless. How will you display that litograph on you shelf or wall?Print it out? Use digital frame? Additional expenses, and you still get inferior  item compared to manufactured CE package.
So yeah, CE pre-orders got a sweet deal for a fair price this time around.

wow!
There isn't a bigger group that thinks they are entitled to something then gamers.
The extra squadmate was meant for the CE, so i think its a rather nice om them to make it available as DLC for the people who didn't bought the CE.

For everyone who is afraid that they are missing out on a inportant plot point, don;t worry the protian IS in the basic game, just not as a squadmate.

Ok, how about this example then (not wrriten by me but a much more clever person on the Xbox Forums):

You and a friend go to a burger joint. They have the same simple menu of a Burger ($1), Double Burger ($2) and Fries ($1).

Your get the single burger, and your friend decides to splurge and get the double burger. Then, after the orders are placed, the restaurant informs you that they have left pickles off the single burger but they will come on the double burger. To add to the frustration of being told after the fact, you are also told that they are sold out of double burgers so the only way you can get pickles is to pay $.50 extra for them. You have now paid almost as much as your friend has, but your friend has a burger that's twice as big. Now, when you protest this policy, the cashier informs you that pickles are optional and are not required to enjoy the burger. It's only a necessity if you happen to like pickles on your burger. Both of you still get the fries for $1 (the content that's the same between all editions of the game) but your friend has a core burger that's clearly better then yours even though you paid almost as much (regular game with DLC is $70, N7 is $80 and comes with tons of other items.)

To compound the issue, your friend then argues that you're in the wrong because he paid an extra dollar for his burger therefore he's entitled to pickles and you're not, even though you have paid the fair market price for a burger that normally comes with pickles everywhere else.

This may just be the most retarded thing I've ever read. Comparing DLC for a computer game with food. Wow.

I have seen worse. The constant comparisons to buying a car without brakes, or a roof, or an engine or what have you is, well, stupid.

If anything, it is more of a contract comparison over a feature comparison, you have two versions of the same car you want to buy, one has extra features for more money, and the other is the basic model. Simple really, since nothing vital was removed like BRAKES or something like that. You choose the version you want, and if you want the version with a HD stereo or whatever, you get it.

Gamers are strange people. Tousands, maybe over millions of people downloading pirated copies of games every day. Gamecreators being robbed every day. And people dare to complain that they charge prices around 10-15 USD for an DLC? That really belong to the Collectors edition. It is not the game creators who are greedy, it is we who play the games.

I dont say, you all are pirates, but please..

Look on to it from the game creators side for once..

They choose to charge for a job they do?

Do not you want to get paid for a job you do? After you clean? fixed? delivered something?

For me it is not strange at all.
