That's our answer. The DLC will contain some critically important lore.

All I see is this guy with this post.
If you had read the novels you might have known that, although a bit crazy and extremist, there might be some truth to what he's saying. Allbite put in a different context to serve a different goal.

How do you get "critically important" from that? Or perhaps I should first ask what you mean by "critically important."

Wrong. Thats a leap too far in assumption. We have been told all major plot points and lore elements will be covered in the main game regardless for Protheans, the character will add some more exposition but that context is minor and not "critical" as you proclaim.

Once the game comes out this whole situation is going to get worse for Bioware. Espically when the game ends in a cliffhanger that you need DLC to resolve.

You dont get it, what i meant was a true fan wouldnt wait 5 years they'd probably not wait 5 weeks, maybe a year for the Game of the year edition with alot of the DLC but not 5 years
The problem still exists that I can never own DLC even if I pay for it. If I am a "true fan" and buy all the DLC I can still lose my access to it once Bioware no longer hosts it. Give me an expansion pack disk. Then I can use it whenever I want.
You can always wait for the inevitable GotY discs.
A GotY disc is not inevitable. There is not one for ME2.
Edit: There is also not one for ME1. You can download the DLC for free now, but it is not on the disc.
there will be a classics like with ME1

How did you get "critically important lore" from "learning more about the Prothean Empire"? That's like hearing that the Roman language was Latin and assuming you know all the complex socio-political, economic, and military factors that led to its demise.

And concerning the leap towards critical importance assumption... I'd prefer not to get into all those car/burger/pickles metaphors, I'll just say a great deal of fun in ME series comes from the universe you can care about and which is fun to explore (as opposed to many titles in "generic" setting). I am sure that background/history information on the Prothean Empire is very important in that particular universe.

Maybe you should say "very interesting" or "very fun" instead of "critically important," then.
I hope the DLC is interesting and fun. Not worth buying if it isn't.
Edit: what I mean is that right now I don't think the DLC is worth $10. I'd like to be wrong about that.

also congrats BioWare.

Is this worse or even at the same level as to what Blizzard did with Starcraft 2. Everyone jokes about how eventually games will be split into parts because of the way DLC is going but Starcraft 2 is literally sold in 3 parts each for full price. How is what Bioware doing even at the same level as that?

WAIT A MINUTE. SAINTS ROW 3 HAS A BUTTON THAT IS EXPLICITLY LABELED "THE AWESOME BUTTON". BIOWARE IS RIPPING OFF VOLITION. PRE-ORDER CANCELLED, SHAMELESS STEALING RUINS THE INDUSTRY. FOR SHAME, BIOWARE.

In a game as big and commercially successful as Mass Effect, do you really need to cheap shot long time fans with price-gouging DLC? It's shameful, really.
I've been buying Bioware games on day 1 for a long time, DA2 was the first time I didn't since KOTOR. It takes a long time and a lot of effort to build a positive reputation as a quality company that produces memorable experiences their customers remember and appreciate for a long time. It only takes a couple missteps like this one to destroy that relationship and change your companies image permanently for the worse.
The Hubris of Bioware is too much for me now. I will wait to buy Mass Effect 3 until it is bundled as a trilogy with ALL CONTENT COMPLETE AND INCLUDED. Until then, you might as well change my handle to the YARRRRbitor because I see no reason to deprive myself of something I've been anticipating for years simply because of your companies outright, blatant, and abusive avarice.
Bioware, you are destroying the reputation that you've worked so hard to establish for yourselves over the years. Is it really worth it, for some 10$ DLC? I guess you think so...

I'm sorry but if one 10 dollar DLC is all it took to ruin BioWare for you guys I have to question what you think a fan is...
Use sports fans for example they seem to support their teams no matter whats going on or how bad they hate them at that moment. maybe we should all take note from that just sayin.

Pretty sure Square Enix already have that one covered. If EA/BioWare tried it Sqare Enix would acuse them of copying and try to sue themAzure33 wrote...

No loose ends or cliffhangers, the game is truly an appropriate end to the trilogy with a very intense and touching finale
