Welcome to capitalism. A company can put out what they want, when they want, for the price they want.

A consumer can then decide if it's worth the price to them. You have no real voice but your wallet.

That's the way I see it , if you don't like your options don't buy based on your own individual reasons.

While that´s totally true, it doesn´t automatically mean that we have to like it :)

Well of course not! :D But I find speaking with my money is WAY more effective than ****ing in a forum.

People are talking as if we have to stop EA from doing things worse than this in the future. Guess what happens when they do. They stop making money, because people won't pay them! If they do something ****ty, people won't pay. But as long as people like me find the extra content (whether it's excised from the full game or not) worth $10, they'll keep doing stuff like this.

Democracy through your dollar.

I just don't understand where everyone gets this idea that they're entitled to anything. You don't have a RIGHT to the content. You buy your right to it. If $10 is too much for you, you don't get the content. Can someone tell me why they deserve the content at whatever price THEY want?

We are entitled to either complete games as in no parts missing or a big warning label on the box saying what is missing and how much it will cost before we buy it and on any advertising for the game.

Anything else is dishonest.

I think it comes from standards that exist in certain branches of the economy.
In the example of PC video games the standard price for a newly released game with all its content is (in europe) 40-50 Euro.
If you want to buy Mass Effect 3 with all its content when it is released you have to pay either 60 Euro (SE+DLC) or 75 Euro (CE).

People feel "entitled" (horrible word by the way), because it is against the standard in the video game branche.

It was a scrapped idea that didn't work out for the main storyline of ME3.They passed it on to a dlc team , it was worked to be better and has become day dlc that has zero to do with the main plot of ME3.

I think the main goal of people posting in this thread is not to reach bioware directly. That this won´t work I think everybody knows.
They hope to reach more people with this so the "boycott" is more effective and bioware/ea will therefore is therefore be made more aware of the issue.

I think DLC would be more successful as a whole if it was like some indie game developers who sell the game for any price you name. Those who want it but are damn near unwilling to pay for it would probably throw a penny at it. Those who want it and think it'd have high value would probably pay higher prices, $5-$10.

Except it has been done before. Google the Humble Indie Bundle. Pay what you want, free of all DRM, works on multiple operating systems...

Then google how many people have cracked it and put it on file sharing sites just for the **** of it. Apparently even 1 cent is too much for some people to pay for being able to play games other people have worked hard to create... So no, doesn't work, unfortunatedly.

Bioware themselves said it's a DLC for long-time fans of the series. Which basically means that they know this appeals to every fan out there and that they will pay ten bucks for this.

After all the money that fans have sunk into this series since 2007, EA is perfectly okay with thanking these people by asking them to pay ten dollars more for a download content that certainly looks like it was just cut from the game (even if it isn't, it still LOOKS like that). It's just a huge slap in the face of the long-time fan. It's EA and Bioware saying: "We know we can exploit you, so we will."

But thankfully many people aren't simply swallowing the bull****.

in my country it's 69.99 euros without the DLC
basically becoming 80 euros for the whole package.

But here's the thing. If you buy Mass Effect 3, pop the disc in, and play through, finding holes where the content was supposed to be, are you going to buy Mass Effect 4?

In theory, no! Because you got an inferior product, and you don't want to support those bad practices. So it wouldn't make any sense for Bioware to do what they're being accused of doing.

And if they're doing it anyway, they're doing it because they know we, the consumers, will still buy it. So that means it's up to us to respond to whatever Bioware does with our money. If they're doing things we don't approve of, we shouldn't buy their next game.

Honestly, if you think they're screwing you, DO NOT BUY THE GAME. If you think it's okay, BUY IT. Let their income statement do the talking.

Utter tosh.  Have they not made it clear what the DLC is and how much it cost?  Is that not why we have this HUUUUGGGGEEE thread on it, because BW HAVE said "look here's some DLC we developed which we're including in the CE, but if you are a SE owner you can buy it at less money than it would cost to upgrade to a CE?"

Why would they need to put it on the box?

And to repeat what Fenris said - you are a consumer, you don't get to tell the company making the product how they make it, but you do get to choose whether you spend your money on it.  Will people stop this insanity.... just because there is Day 1 DLC it DOES NOT mean that the game is not complete- it is merely something extra to complement it, SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO PURCHASE IT.

Yeah but entitled seems to strong of a word. Entitled sounds like there is a law or something that gives them the right to it. They don´t believe that. They know that bioware/ea can charge whatever they want for whatever they want.

They could charge 10000 Dollar for the game and another 1000 for the DLC. You wouldn´t be entitled to get the game any cheaper then, too.

They just think that it is wrong what bioware/ea are doing here and that business should not be conducted this way.

It's just a slap in the face of a long-time fan of chicken. It's McDonald's saying: "We know you will pay money for chicken, so we'll ask you to."

EDIT: I hope my point wasn't lost there. Just because you've bought products before from a company, they still have the right to charge for additional products.
