more expensive games ----> more pirates

brilliant!

More used game sales anyway... but this whole "stop used games" effort seems to forget one important thing... When gamers trade in games toward brand new ones (like ME3)... stores like Gamestop are actually buying new copies from Bioware on their behalf... not so bad when you think about the entire cycle...

that's beyond retarded, if gamestop buys games new, then they ought to sell it new, not with whatever price tag comes as used.

They order in bulk and do with it what they will.  And they do sell the units they order as new.

But I digress...

I think Bioware should've included all single-player story-based content as free for all players if it's ready for a Day 1 launch (especially considering how useless the MP mode is to Silver players).

On release day... no story content done by that time should even be considered DLC -for-sale (which is how they handled ME2's release)... otherwise it is a pretty frank rip... especially considering what they did before...

The Multiplayer could've been its own L4D-style add-on in the future... then they'd not only have time to add offline support, but they wouldn't have to worry about whether every player can actually play it or not.

Just finished with Engineer last night. now just sorting out my save files as in which is a Paragon/Renegade. Whay you guys gonna play as first? My first play through of ME2 resulted in jacob and Jack dying. Think I'm gonna finish that one first.

My Renegade Infiltrator is up first, he's been my first in the previous games.  I have one for every class and will probably go Adept next.

What is going to royally suck is getting home from work on Tuesday and spending an hour between the DLC download and game install.  Methinks I'm going to be very impatient.

Well damn. People are already moving on from getting ruffled about "From Ashes". Guess I don't have to add my two cents then.

Anyone who doesn't have to work the night of release - TO RELEASE THE GAME - is lucky. Working a midnight launch for a game you've been waiting for is like taking a turn as Homer Simpson on a tread mill, with a nice, frosted donut just out of reach.

No they should not have. The additional content was for CE owners, your lucky to be given the chance of gettng it in the first place as SE. Don't be so greedy, you don't deserve it free regardless of when created it or what was created.

They sat down and spent their time and effort creating the product, they have the right to decide how they wish to sell it. If you do not like the price, wait few months buy it in combination for cheaper than is right now. Or go the full hog and wait till a GoTY or bundle pack is offered a year or more down the line and get even more DLC included in that for a lower price.

If this was a first game in a series people would just skip it if they heard Bioware was ripping everyone off like this.

As things stand I doubt sales will be hurt as much because they have people by the balls wanting to know how it ends, but we'll see what happens when they start up a new franchise and try to pull this stuff again.

Edit: bad grammar ^_^

If enough players feel this way, Bio will simply start delaying all the DLC content. It would have been easy enough for them to not bother finising From Ashes until April or so. Kind of annoying for the CE folks, of course.

The very idea of DLC as it is implemented now is a rip off. Concurrently creating content - regardless of impact on the narrative - just to sell seperately is pure greed. ME3 has already broken even and has begun to profit well before release. There is no reason not to include "From Ashes" - or anything created during development - within both editions of the game.

Nothing they did before has any baring on their future; because it was before it must be now : incorrect.  They have stated why, and the price, its up to you to decide to buy it or not.

Not a valid criticism. You cannot play the "have earned enough already" card because it's hypocritical. It's like saying if your boss offered you more money for doing your current job you would and should turn around and say no thanks I already earn enough to live on so I'll pass on wage increase. Greed in general works both ways and you cannot really accuses them for being greedy if your in turn asking for it for free.

So the company should only make as much profit as you'd like them to?

What would they use profit for? It's not like they have to give devs their share or have funds for future games....wait a minute ..

Yes.  But they're doing it anyway.

They're betting on the fact that there are enough shortsighted people who don't understand the larger issue, enough kids who buy with their parents credit cards, enough nutty fanboys and fangirls who would pay any price to see their favorite LI one more time.....

They're betting that people will buy it anyway.  And they're probably right.

R.I.P. Bioware.

I'm already buying it.  And of course what they did in the past can have baring on their future.  If they wanted to do it that way, they could've.  They just didn't, and instead included a mode that not all players can even play.  If they wanted to cater to everyone a little better, naturally they would launch their game with something everyone's able to play out of the box (ie. not multiplayer) and make the more nich bonus (multiplayer) available for sale on the side.

But this is about profits, which will always get some backlash when customers become aware of how that was chosen over them (no matter how small the 'transgression?' was).
