It's hard to remain very serious in a 597 pages thread about something as trivial as this.
Personaly i have nothing against (day one) DLC, but i do agree that this stunt, amongst the insane loads of pre order bonusses in diffirent shops and DLC with action figures/console cases DOES damage the good reputation Bioware has.

-edit-
498 pages that is.
oh my...

Earlier edit didn't seem to take so I repeated myself, but the edit is showing up now.

---edit---

I think you mean 498, you are suffering from 500 fever.

No point getting too serious, it's just a game after all.

Wow.... community, you are a bunch of retarded a-holes. I knew that fans were mainly brain-dead with age not reaching 10, but the way it behaved because of this DLC is horrible.

I'm seeing a lot of replies for this DLC along the lines of "the dlc is there for hardcore fans who care about the story"

My reply to this:

Bioware games DEPEND on its fantastic story for its survival. This is what makes it better then most games, the fact that they're charging for critical story content is like being charged extra to use lightsabers in any of the starwars games. And yes, the race that gave Shep the ability to even know this threat is coming and warn people so we might have even the slightest chance of survival is 100% critical to the story. even if you ignore that most of the advanced tech Shep encounters in ME1 is prothean, and the fact that the collectors are protheans that were enslaved by the Reapers.

Another reply i get is "if you care about the story then buy it and shut up"

My retort: If you dont care about the story, then all i have to say is go back to battlefield 3.

Actually that would be due to Game/Gamestation royally screwing fans out of their CE's/SE's.The boycott has had near zero impact/effect , Game's copies of ME3 have been sent to other stores/online stores.

And you know that it's had zero effect... how?

maybe because:

You DO realise that everyone is getting the prothean in the game right? for story purposes right? and that all the DLC most likely does is adding him/her as a squadmate.

I can see it now...

WITH DLC

Garrus: Holy ****! Sheppard it's a prothean!
Sheppard: We don't have time for this, keep moving!

WITHOUT DLC

Garrus: Holy ****! Sheppard it's a prothean!
Sheppard: You're right Garrus. Prothean, your race survived? How?
Prothean: <insert plot exposition here>
Sheppard: Wanna join my team and show those Reaper scum what happens when they try and wipe out an entire race?
Prothean: Damn straight I do! But first we must go to <inset location> to <insert incredibly poignant plot development that really enhances the story>

---edit---
Oh, and excellent comic strip BTW!

You couldn't use any Lightsabers in Starwars Battlefront I, but it was still one of the most successful Starwars game (Probably behind Battlefront II, but Sequels usually sell more) to date. Just pointing that out, not a good comparison.

On Topic; Bioware said several times that the mission isn't huge to the story. If you keep complaining about how you have to pay for it, nobody is making you. Just think of the DLC as getting a new BA character, and new appearances for all your squadmates, and at the last second they decided to throw in a "bonus" mission as well.

Complaining about it isn't going to stop it, because if it's included in the Collector's Edition they won't just give it out for free.

nearing 500 pages and nearing the release date....

This is really getting old.-_-

Please close this thread... It's the same complaint repeated over and over again. I think Bioware gets it... some people are pissed.

Your confusing lore and story...  I'm not sure why people are so thick they need this explained to them.  The Prothean is not a critical piece of the plot ripped from the game.  He's a mildly interesting portion of the lore not critical to the game but fun to have.  How many time do I have to point out that you aren't meeting the Protheans, you are meeting a single individual, a single soldier?  All this uproar is unreasonable.

But first buy this DLC for 10$ , then order this CE exclusive T-shirt , then click on this link here and donate 5$ for the bioware penguins , then also order in advance our next 2 dlc's and pre-order Battlefield 10 and NFS 50 right now or i will stay here chilling out like im still extinkt.

If Bioware was smart about this they would have said the game is gold and that they're working on DLC. At least that way they wont get the Day 1 DLC Backlash BS they're getting now. All they had to do was wait a week or so and release the DLC. Of course if the leaks are true I suspect DLC sales wont be as steller as they want anyway since you combine that with the Day 1 hate and yeah...

Yep , but i'm not . It may be a bit dramatic but this is how i see things in the future if we alow day 1 dlc. Look at past games and even current games like Witcher 2 , they didn't have this bs DLC day 1.

Edit: Removed your name bc you didn't write that sry .

Apparently he's not in the game unless you buy the DLC - that's according to the people that have played through it already.

Pretty upsetting as the art book makes reference to the Prothean being in the game the same as several other characters such as Garrus, Liara, Ashely, EDI, Kai Leng, Kaidan, Jack, TIM, etc...

Maybe we have to pay for DLC for each of those characters to appear too. <_<

I must agree "fixing" people's quotes is an infuriating thing for people to do.

Wasn't there a game that did essentially that though? You met a quest-giver and it pretty much offered to sell you DLC for his quest? I never played it, but I seem to remember hearing about it, but maybe it was just satirical hyperbole from penny arcade or something.

I'm pretty sure it happend in dragon age with the return to ostagar DLC.
I might be completely wrong though as its been a while since i played that game.
And yes it could have been Penny Arcade about that ostagar DLC.

Nice, so Bioware have a track record of pulling that kind of thing? Well tickle me pink and colour me even more concerned.
