Not going to say too much, considering this is a non-spoiler forum, but for anyone who's still curious: yeah, the Prothean adds PLENTY to the lore. And why wouldn't he? He's a Prothean! He's a very interesting character, with an awesome recruitment mission, and great new abilities (he's very useful in combat). All of that in mind, I'm still scratching my head as to why he wasn't in the actual game. Honestly, for a moment I had totally forgotten that he was DLC because he feels like such a crucial and natural addition in this game.
He is awesome indeed. Had great laughts with some of his remarks.

So it is exactly what I thought a chunk of the story cut to be kept from you with a 10 dollar ransom attached to it.
It's not that at all, actually. He has nothing to do with the main plot of the game.
Thank god for that, because it would make things too easy and far-fetched.

Is there a way to purchase From Ashes from within the game because on the PS Store I click on the Mass Effect 3 logo and there is nothing inside... I on EU PSN btw...maybe I should wait till friday?
Not to my knowledge no, there is no way to purchase it in-game.
I would wait until friday and see what it brings.

It fills in some grey areas in the story. That has everything to do with the main plot.

Does it?
It gives us backstory for sure, but thats the extant of what Javik can contribute other than being another gun to shoot reapers and pretty cool. But I thought long and hard on this and came to a conclusion I think the developers came to when they first throught of the character. If Javik was a game-changer to the plot of Mass Effect 3, then the story would just focus on him only. There would be minimal gathering of allies, assets, weapons, what have you. The story would lose focus on Shepard, who was the primary focus to begin with, and the plot would pretty much allow him to be the magical macguffin that will destroy them once and for all.
It would make the story a bad one then, a conclusion that doesn't fit what we have already see. The last living Prothean is a soldier far removed from the work on Ilos, the Citadel, and other areas. This soldier knows how to fight, and thats what you need, a fighting man by your side.
So I am glad it has nothing to do with the main plot of Mass Effect 3. If it did, he would have the solution to defeating the Reapers and we would already be winning for sure. As of where I am in the story, he has none of that, which I am grateful for.

I'm not sure whether the download was interrupted...
ME3 will be playable tomorrow in this part of Europe (Germany) and I'd like to have all the relevant files downloaded in order to start playing (tomorrow) with no further delay.

Can someone give me their impression of From Ashes, without spoilers? How long is it compared to Kasumi or Zaeed's missions? Is the Prothean interesting? And is the DLC worth the price?
From Ashes is much better than Kasumi/Zaeed even though it may be slightly shorter. Its just better in quality and how it presents itself as well as the story element explaining his character. Its really cool. Worth the price? Can't say, I got the CE.
