My From Ashes (PC) has an 8-hour download estimate.
Anyone else get that?

Don't get me wrong, yes, the Eden Prime mission is short - but you get a lot more with that DLC than just the mission. I got new weapons and character appearances + Javik n the mission. Seemed worth it to me day 1 purchase, but *shrug* I traded in two games to get ME3 for free basically, so I was ONLY spending 10 bucks in my mind heh.

I've got the code for the DLC from my Collector's Edition, but I can't seem to find the place to use it. Can anyone point me in the direction?

I have played it this morning before going to work (woke up far earlier :D) and it left me speechless!
While not essential for the main story, it was mind blowing for a true fan!

personally the ashes dlc was essential. its funny how it complimented the game, apparantly it was a separate thing altogether.

Ok just finished from Ashes mission and im shocked it's not part of the game. It's like it brings something's Full Circle for those that played ME1/ME2.

Anyways personally it was amazing and NOTHING like Zaeed(disjointed/apart) and can't wait to carry him through the whole game.

So, according to EA's CEO, John Riccitiello, 40% of customers who picked up ME3 on day one at GameStop also purchased the "From Ashes" DLC. So, maybe people are not as mad as they seem after all?

People also keep buying capcpom "DLC" and horse armor doesn't make it a good thing. I'm all for game devs getting more money but not for content that's made well before game completion.

You have to have internet access for each time you start up Mass Effect for the DLC to be activated. If you don't, you can't load your game saves. Pretty awesome bioware/ea. Pretty awesome.

I didn't say that made it a good thing, simply that a lot of people ended up buying it anyway.

I have the PC Collectors Edition and submited all my codes but still no DLC add one for this. Is it already in the game or is it a special download ?

I've finished the DLC about two days ago. Very good overall. The new squad member to me was worth the 10 bucks I've put down for it. The stuff he's been saying in between missions and when your talking to him in his cabin was priceless even if your an Paragon Shepard. The extra War resource was a nice bonus too. Overall very good and I'd get the next DLC.

I look at all the examples of day one DLC that shoulda been included in the game and I notice one thing... it's all stuff that was created to add value to Collectors and Digital Deluxe game editions.

Bioware should take all the criticism as a compliment.

IMO the only people with the right to complain are purchasers of CE or DDE versions who thought they'd get access to content that they might otherwise not have been able to obtain

Can you actually have conversations with him on the ship? Or is it like Kasumi/Zaeed in ME2 where they just quip little things about their adventures?

Does completing Priority: Eden Prime advance the war (Sidemission Lockouts, New Citadel areas, new Star Clusters, new Sidemissions), or is it treated as a side-mission, and only Reaper Awareness is reset?

I've read all 96 pages of this thread. Contrary to popular thoughts, we really do care what you guys have to say.

Casey and I have explained how the development timeline on these DLC go, and in order to have our DLC flow with the main game, we do have to integrate the VO into certain places in the core product (Certain ME2 DLCs followed this same pattern). But there's a lot of work to crafting a great DLC, outside of the VO and script.

That said, i can tell you is that a team of of us poured our heart into this DLC after we had given all we could to finish the the ME3 game. We pushed hard because we wanted people to be able to experience this adventure on the first day, rather than day 30 or 60. We're proud of it, and if you choose to play it, I think you'll see that.

I really do appreciate every person who wants to give ME3 a chance (even if you're not happy with me right now!), and even without 'From Ashes' - I think you will be blown away.

Thanks for your support, and thanks for your feedback.

Mike

Day one DLC that's already largely on the retail disc/download is simply screwing your fanbase.

But hey, you guys have been getting more and more used to that since the EA acquisition, so it's not really that surprising anymore.

ME2 did it, DA2 was a complete joke, SWTOR is an unfinished and buggy mess, and now this nonsense with ME3.  But I'm sure it was a stressful situation sitting in the cutting room deciding which piece of the game to remove, repackage and resell to your fanbase.

Thanks guys.

On the Origins games library screen click on the 'i' on the ME3 picture, it then takes you to a screen showing all your dlc, which you can then download. From Ashes IS a 500-odd meg download so you may need to be patient.

Bringing Down the Sky does the same thing to ME1. (or it did)

He tells you a lot about Protheans. Pretty lengthy conversations. Not a lot of game integration though. (Kinda like "Geth do not intentionally infiltrate'.

For me From Ashes is worth it for the assault rifle you get.

And as swiftly as the love affair had begun it is over.

I got caught in a stun-lock by a Brute. The rifle had overheated and the Brute hit me, when that stun wore off Shepard began to shake the weapon to cool it off, which is when the Brute hit me again. When that stun wore off Shepard began to shake the weapon to cool it off, which is.....well you get the idea.

I tried hitting it with allies powers but nothing could get it off me until I died.

The DLC story is very important to the main plot, and whether BioWare created it at the end, middle or beginning of the main story development cycle is irrelevant.

It was short, and because it was so important to the overall story it should have been included in the price...

I am a VP of Marketing and Development for a software company in a different field, and this is such a thinly veiled money grab that it is really insulting.

Yes - pirates will take a chunk out of profits - so hurt the faithful instead? This game will provide hundreds of millions of dollars in a short time.

So wait.

The mission on Eden Prime was it? I get that you can use Javik for the majority of the game (has his own lines and people react on him), but was that one short mission it? I was expecting something on the lines of LoTSB.Since we kinda paid the same price.
