Here's how I feel...something as critical as a squadmate should be free to all, like they did with Zaeed to anyone who bought a new copy of ME3. What they are doing with "From Dust" seems terribly wrong, and I hope they change their minds on it.

Right yeah cause Kasumi and all. Let's see "From Ashes" is 800 msp.. Kasumi was 560, Alternate Appearance pack was 160 so 560 + 160 = 720.. so they round it off to 800 msp.. Makes sense.

Hmmm, I don't have Kasumi, either.

Shepard: cool, lets ask him to join our squad and go shoot some husks.

This. Prothy should be a BIG DEAL, and the fact that he's just a $10 DLC is just sad.

No, no.  You misunderstood.  Nobody thinks Bioware will stop making products.  We just think they'll stop making good products...because they already have.

Let's see, we have a WoW clone, DA2 (LOLOLOL), and now this.  What exactly seperates Bioware from **** developers like Epic Games at this point?

So ME3 is terrible then? Since you've played it, i'd love to hear all about it. What did you love? What did you hate? How was the ending? Was the extra character really important to the story, or did he end up just having random extra content?

when  have  I or did I every call anyone  supporting your side of the debate a Biodrone nor did I call you one, nor do I think you one at all and hears another little  bit of info for you.  Capcom pull this same mess with  MVC 3  with   Jill and Shuma Gorath and I got the collecters of that and  got them for free and you know what ?  Still felt the same way... why? because Characters should never be  Day 1 paid DLC ... EVER ... period nor should the exclusive to Collector Editions.  Its Crap and BS  the information is on the disc and all we are paying  for in a  code to play content that is already there.

Look at like this... you go to a resturant ... you buy  your meal  they cook it right. They don't charge for the fresh food and then charge for cooking the meal.

Well lets look at the total price of the CE - you said $20 bucks extra... okay well the ME  3  Art book is listed on Amazon  at $ 26... so that means the $20 bucks you paid extra for the CE does not even  cover the cost of the  artbook  seperately.  So now  tally them with  soundtrack well that will run you about   $15-20   game soundtracks tend to be more exspensive then regular CD's.   With those alone you getting well worth that 20 bucks plus all the extra's includeding the DLC ... so for 20 bucks your are getting the character for free because the 20 bucks you paid extra for CE does not even cover the cost of the artbook and soundtrack.

No CDR   I don't think you are  biodrone or a stupid  fangirl...I think  we are seeing things differently.

plus if there is one word I hate its Biodrone ...I hate it almost as much as I hate Huntard.

I wasn't saying you were, specifically, nitefyre...it's just been that it's been hurled around by many others in this thread who are over-generalizing those who share my view. I apologize if you got the impression I was.

Also, I'll iterate again...the Art of the Mass Effect Universe is NOT the book you get with the CE. So that point is irrelevant.

I got the digital version of the ME2 soundtrack for $9.99 on iTunes, so that's the value I'd assign the ME3 digital OST.

My point isn't that characters should or shouldn't be Day 1 DLC, or about the ethics of the DLC practice in general...mine is that if you make Prothy available to everyone now, you would be de-valuing the price I paid for my CE to a certain extent. When I paid off my CE, I was under the impression I was getting a special DLC squaddie as part of the price I was paying. If BioWare up and made this available to everyone free of charge now, then they'd be going against the advertising they did for the CE in the first place. Is that ethical? I don't think so.

The restaurant example is a bit flawed: When I go to a restaurant, I pay extra for the service in a tip I give to the waitress. You only don't tip if you didn't get any service (or negligible service) from the waitress. When I buy the game, I too expect to be buying a complete game. However, I am under no impression that this game isn't complete without Prothy. He's an extra. A cool extra with a unique perspective, but still an extra. This is also a game that could easily take 30 hours...that is most definitely a "complete" game in my book. A game is complete if I can get from beginning to end, and have the story resolve itself. No one extra character or mission will make me think the game is incomplete.

This is the last bioware game I'll purchase, I'll wait until its in the bargain bin and probably pirate the dlc.

It seems bioware is the new westwood. Excessive DLC at launch, progressively worse writing, relationships being a little extra perk to becoming a pillar of the game and something biodrones specifically purchase games for now. They even have a writer whose previous works are by all means worse than fan fiction, who thinks combat and gameplay in a video game is a nuisance and that you should skip the "filler" stuff in between homosexual sex cut scenes.

I don't believe mass effect 3 will be as bad as DA2, but it doesn't live up to the standards set by the previous games. Brock Mcstrongjaw your squadmate looks straight from jersey shore, 2d sprites, terrible attempts at emotional appeal by having kids be blown up (not protesting this from a moral standpoint, could care less the kid is incinerated) when no such thing is needed when giant tripods destroying earth serve to pull on the players emotional strings perfectly fine, having one button be the end all universal control.

If this garbage you wrote helps you sleep soundly, then sweet dreams

Thank's for your concern biodrone. I will hopefully sleep will, and you can resume playing your gay alien sex michael bay simulator.

Spending 60$ on a less then amazing singleplayer game? Pushing it.

Tacking on day one 10$ DLC on top of a inflated price for a mediocre single player game when it could be patched in? Too far

Valve released TF2, one of the best shooters of this decade for no more than 30$ or part of the orange box, another incredible deal. They then make it cheaper, enable free weekends for people to play it, make it LESS THAN A DOLLAR AT ONE POINT, then eventually make the game free.

Seeing what bioware is doing, they must be out of touch with the current market. Inflated prices coupled with excessive dlc isn't the rage these days, nor is subscription based MMO's. B2P, f2p, developers patching a game as a duty TO the fanbase is. The more incredibly greedy your business model gets the more you are only going to shoot yourself in the foot.

This post is laced with opinoins and value judgements of games which makes it a poor argument against anyones business model. Companies do not desicde their sales based on your opinon of what game is "less than amazing" or "one of the best shooters of this decade" and expecting them to tailor their business around your personal opinion and taste in games is rediculous also. I would say your the one who is vastly out of touche with what is the "Rage" in the market because numbers completly contradict your claims.

Yeah I know right. I will be buying all their games on day one now I know what a great company they are... ): what has happened to american capitalism?

The difference is BW is now a large, profitable company. Owned by an even larger company. BW has already proven themself in the gaming community as a "heavy weight". This Polish company is the Tim Tebow of gaming (well no but allow me to explain). They don't suck like Tebow does but they have something to prove and by being a nice, "fans-first" type company, they will gain followers as word of mouth spreads. Trust me, once this Polish company gets to the status of Bioware globally, they won't give a s**t either.

That's rather harsh, BW does give a s**t, but you get the point. They won't care as much about appeasing the fans every whim.

Valve?
Rockstar?

Err - Rockstar has done a fair amount of DLC with it's games, as well as having it's own share of questionable choices with games like Borderlands and how they supported it.

Valve, while an amazing company, has put out SO much DLC for games like TF2 that it's almost agonizing to log in to that game to play and all you're inundated with is DLC DLC DLC regarding it.

And I still think both of those companies are awesome and put out great work - I just would not use them as the "angels" in this discussion >.>

well now your including cost for bying for example a new headset a new controller.
so your point is kinda void and missleading inside this thread.

$44.99 for the Liara figurine - which oddly enough now comes with multiplayer unlock DLC

$24.99 for The Art of Mass Effect Universe - Collector Assault Rifle unlock DLC/Powerup

$80 for four Mass Effect 3 toys - "Slightly randomized" multiplayer unlock DLC

$59.99 for the Mass Effect 3 controller - Collector Assault Rifle unlock DLC/Powerup

$209.99 for the Chimera 5.1 Headset - Collector Assault Rifle unlock DLC/Powerup

$34.99 for the Mousepad - Collector Assault Rifle unlock DLC/Powerup

$79.99 for the Messenger Bag - Collector Assault Rifle unlock DLC/Powerup

$24.99 for the iPhone case - Collector Assault Rifle unlock DLC/Powerup

$79.99 for the Mouse - Collector Assault Rifle unlock DLC/Powerup

$139.99 for the Keyboard - Collector Assault Rifle unlock DLC/Powerup

I'm sure the writing and design work that went into the Prothean was by no means cheap, and that adding the content probably does add some fascinating background material into the game's mythos that we've yet to experience so far.

That in itself makes all the butthurt over the $10 charge for non-CE buyers even more ridiculous.  It's $10 for some truly intriguing, if still entirely optional, content.  I'd certainly invest in it.

Isn't this whole argument null until we get the game and see the impact it has? My understanding in the earlier drafts was that there was a VI instead of an actual Prothean. They might go that way in the game and if you want an actual person then you get the DLC.

Yes we get it, you are a fanboy but its no excuse for Bioware to lie about the DLC being put into production well after the game was certified. Does Bioware really think we're that stupid?

Do you work for BioWare? Didn't think so. You have NO IDEA what happened with this DLC.. even if it was started before the game went certified (while I believe it didnt) it was made by a different team and made AS DLC.. they never "cut it". Certified != Gold
