I find this a little hard to believe. What "team" was this? Was it the Montreal team, who have done Arrival and the multiplayer for ME3, or a new supplemental team that was called in to finish this while the core team were on vacation or something?

Time to put the OP up for cross examination huh? So silly, and so easy to call someone a liar safe behind a computer. Believe or don't believe it. Stanly Woo explained it also here.

I believe 'em and I'm paying $10 for this when it comes out.

The prothean and eden prime was in the leaked script which bioware said many times that was really "old". It wasn't completed until after the main game? Yeah right...

This.  It is a blatant lie.

As most of you know, yesterday there was a leak that revealed the upcoming DLC “ME3:From Ashes” on the
Xbox LIVE Marketplace. This leak took place before we were prepared to make an announcement about the details of that pack (slated for this Friday).

There has been a lot of discussion about the DLC offering but we wanted to clarify a few things...

- “From Ashes” includes the Prothean squad mate, an adventure on Eden Prime, a new weapon, and an alternate
appearance for every squad mate. Note that these alternate appearances are in addition to the ones already advertised in the CE.

- The Collectors Edition has been advertised from the beginning as containing a bonus character/mission, but we were not at liberty to provide the details. The Prothean is optional content that is certainly designed to appeal to long-time fans, which is why he is part of the CE offering (the version many fans would be likely to purchase).  Mass Effect 3 is a complete – and a huge game - right out of the box.

Wait, so if we ordered the CE we're getting everything included in "From Dust" or the chracter and mission are the
but it comes with its own set of Alternate Outifs and new weapon apart from the CE. If thats the case then thats effed up to offer the same character and mission that comes with the CE but new stuff that doesn't. Don't do it half way! Do either the stuff that comes with the CE or entirely new stuff. Don't mix it up!Posted Image
Could somone please clarify

Essentially, if you have the CE, you get a set of outfits. The From Ashes DLC also includes a set of outfits that are separate from the CE outfits. Hence, if you have the CE, you'll get two new sets of outfits. Hope that helps.

Does the leaked script really prove anything? To use as an example; movie scripts are written & rewritten dozens of times before a movie has even begun casting, let alone filming. It is easily conceivable that the Prothean was planned to be in the main game but due to the release date of the game it became clear to the main team working on ME3 that it wouldn't be ready in time for certification and thus was pushed to a different team to be worked on simultaneously alongside the main game and thus you have Day 1 DLC

Just a thought.

You are taking a very important lore item that is already coded into the game and nickel and diming us, It's abhorable. I won't be buying the game and I hope nobody else does either. Online passes are one thing, this is absolutely disgusting.

This isn't cosmetic, it isn't something small. Imagine having to pay 10 dollars to talk to sovereign in ME1. Sure, you could get through the game, but you would be missing a chunk of the lore. Imagine having to pay 10 dollars to get legion in mass effect 2, it's absolutely absurd.

That fact that you and a lot of other people complaining are quoting TB just goes to show how indoctrinated you are, no pun intended.

This is not only bad, bad business it's bordering on unethical. This is a Prothean we're talking about here. Anyone who has played Mass Effect should know how incredibly massive and important that is.

This is like having the Lord of the Rings without Gollum.

Spin it however you want to and make excuse all you want. This is bad!

Wow - I've read most of the complaint/boycott threads, skimmed through most of this thread, read Mike's original post carefully, and conclusion: there's a lot of whiners out there.

From what I gathered, Prothy was going to be something extra for the fans who got in early and pre-ordered the CE.
CE then proceeded to sell out fairly rapidly.
Bioware, to make it up to those who missed out, offers Prothy, something originally reserved for CE, to be available on release day for $10 (so those who didn't order the CE SAVE $10).

Result. People **** and moan.

That is... not it at all.

The Protheans are a major part of the mythos, it's like if they removed the mass relays from the game unless you gave them extra money.

It's an integral part of the backstory, and it is absolute bull**** and Bioware should know better.

Well, I was just waiting for a reply from BioWare and I got it. Just cancelled my CE on Amazon, can't support shady business practices like this.

Charging for day 1 dlc is bad enough, but when that dlc adds content and story within a story driven game, it goes from bad to ridiculous.

The content in “From Ashes” was developed by a separate team (after the core game was finished) and not completed until well after the main game went into certification.

Then why is the Protheans Dialog coded into the demo? That would imply that the content is part of the full game, just cut so it can be sold.

So, my question is: Are these new AA for all the squadmates already included in the CE or does the CE only get the AA already previously shown for it (the ones for Kaidan, Ashley, Vega, and Liara)? :?

I would assume since we get the "From Ashes" DLC, we get everything that goes with it. Only makes sense. So a set of outfits for all squaddies to go with our additional CE specific ones. I'm even more excited about having my CE waiting for me now.

Of course this character was discussed in early development, and probably how it would be delivered. I don't buy this excuse, it's skewing the truth.

Look at Adolf Hitler, he treats an entire country like **** but there are still those who go and say "Sure but it's still good value, the trains actually run on time now. He probably just had to do all that evil to fund the train schedules."Because burning jews and killing handicaps is clearly helping the trains arrive on time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!!1!!!!!!!!

Could just be a placeholder, it does happen in gaming development as it was shown with LOTSB in ME2.

I'm sorry but 10$ is too much... I know it's optional but it's still a Prothean squadmate, that has to have some kind of an effect on the story.

Next, the peripherals. You think this is the first game that's had peripherals branded with a game franchise? CoD, Gears of War, the list is very long.

Still, the last time I checked, Activision doesn't include DLCs in peripherals and the only DLC they are selling for CoD are maps. Don't know about GoW, but I believe it's the same.

Exclusive DLC ... it's like MP unlocks you could most likely get anyway but you get a boost that way,

That's the problem - EA's only been giving boosts when you bought the game in pre-order (example - Bad Company 2) and not for peripheral. With all those statues and stuff you're probably gonna miss a lot of game experience.

That's... pretty lame, to be honest. So if I give you my money before the game is even released (I'm pre-ordering it) I'm not that big of a fan because it's the standard edition (and the only bonus content I get is two items)?

Right. It's always the same line here regarding day 1 DLC's. I don't believe a word of it. It wasn't completed before the main game went into certification on purpose I suppose. This excuse would work if it happened once, but with EA/Bioware this is already a standard milking trick.

You're kidding ... you cancelled a pre-order for a version of the game that would have this DLC included? You realize it started as a bonus to people like you and I who ordered the DLC and they're letting other people get it for $10 ... wouldn't you be a little slighted if the thing they said was a bonus to you and I for ordering the CE ended up being given out for free to everyone anyway?
