... and I getting the feeling none is useful. What is yours take on this?
.
I mean, they weight A LOT, how much is a lot? Well, enought to prety much neglect any cooldown bonus you might get. With the claymore I went from a 170% bonus with my Vanguard to 10% or something. It's similar with the other two.
.
The Claymore is pretty awesome, do a lot of damage, has a cool sound effect and a shooting effect that really set it apart, but I can't see it being worth while it makes my charge cooldown more than double.
.
The Revenant, well, I won't even go there. The weapon is bad.

And about  Widow, it's more or less the same thing as the Claymore, although I've seen a lot of people saying they use it, so it might be better than I though. Or not.
.
So, it's very early to reach any final conclusions, there is other upgrades, modification, etc.., what I really want is just to read some other people impressions on this, maybe someone who has used the weapons a lot.

the claymore is custom tailored for krogan.

the revenant does suck.

the widow is unstoppable. one shot anything except atlas, shoot through gaurdian shields and some walls, 3 shots to kill atlas on bronze, it is boss.

The Claymore is, largely, useless. Especially as a Vanguard, that extra cooldown bonus is a huge advantage.

The Revenant is indeed quite bad, though it has a huuuuge clip and makes you feel like Rambo when you're carrying it. Unfortunately, you wind up spraying most of the rounds into thin air.

The Widow is the only one that actually performs a useful role. It can punch through light cover, including Guardian shields. This, combined with massive damage, make it a very effective assassination tool for any class. It's especially useful for extraction sections, where Guardians tend to swarm the party.

I've used every weapon, and I'm sorry to say that I roll with little more than the Carnifex or Avenger on all of my classes. The huge cooldown bonuses and, in the case of the Carnifex, incredible utility, make any other choice rather poor by comparison. Granted, the choice makes less difference on Silver and even less on Bronze. But I've playing a lot of Gold lately, and they are utterly worthless on Gold.

Widow is absolutely amazing. You need the extra power and penetration when sniping. Being able to take down Guardians without any problem whatsoever, from any range, is very helpful for your teamates as well. The other two suck, though.

Widow is good for infiltrators, whose cloak still recharges insanely fast even with it (and by extension, their other powers also get recharged faster).  And it penetrates cover.  So yeah.

The other two suck.

Don't have the Revenant, but the Claymore does seems to be a niche weapon, only good for some people's playstyles.

That said, the Widow has a few advantages over the other sniper rifles. It will one shot almost anyone, especially if you're an infiltrator and cloaked. And it can go through light cover and enemies. Meaning if you can line a few enemies up you can kill em all.

As for the light cover, it seems to define this as the 'thin' walls and such. In short, the Widow is amazing.

Wud.? Why the hate for the Revy (see what I did there?)!?!

Put on Recoil Stabilizer and the Optical scope and you can go full auto on effective medium ranges with almost neglectable muzzle climb (you only have to compensate veeeery little). Plus, the weapon is hardly as heavy as some people put it, Vanguard can run with it and still has something like +70% cooldown bonus (from the top of my head, not sure if that's the accurtae number, but it should close enough). A cautious Vanguard can totally run with the Revenant.

I agree though, the Claymore is a tad too heavy for anyone else other than Shepard or MP Krogan to use (which is because, d'uh, those characters aren't freakin' CYBORGS).

A human vanguard can eventually have a +140% CD with the rev.  BUT you need to unlock level X for it.

Irrelevant question, fact is it should be possible, I have seen a Claymore III, Carnifex III (have a Carnifex II myself) and a Widow II.

And I can only repeat myself, the Revenant is more than decent. I don't know how people try using it, but I think the weapon is just fine, the only reason I am using her is she does't fit my playstyles (just yet).

The Claymore IS designed for Krogans. It says in the Mass Effect 2 weapon description (pretty sure only Grunt/Wrex can use it in that game) and Krogans are tanks. They don't need to use powers as often.
