I mean my God, literally twenty veteran packs later and I still haven't unlocked anything better than a Turian Sentinel. No new guns, no new races, no nothing. Granted that there's roughly half the unlocks as in the full game, which I'm getting regardless, but I truly hope that the unlock process is a lot faster.
I personally hate unlocks in games in general. I mean, the way they're used now, it's like fun doesn't matter. Just make a multiplayer mode and give it an unlock system and you're golden. Not that the game isn't fun, but the lack of variety I'm being presented, at least by the demo, it's hard to have fun.
I'm eager to play the full game, so there will be more variety in the game setup itself, but also hoping I don't need to buy five Veteran Packs a day for a week just to get what I want.

Without friends and proper teams, you play bronze mostly, and that doesn't give a lot of credits.
Random rewards, frequent disconnects, broader variety in rewards = tough to get what you want.
On the other side, the SP solely lovers cannot whine that MP gets all the attention.

Still determining why this has it's own thread when there are several concerning the unlock system. Unless the thread topic is more about your inability to remain engaged in a partial mode that's known to most people as a DEMO.

Right now, buying veteran pack and getting an upgrade for a weapon you didnt want sucks. But at least you get an upgrade for something you already had. It could have been worse: buying a package could have either given you something rare or nothing at all. THAT would sucks even more.

Not to mention, it's not hard to get burn out on a demo if you play it too much. There's only two stages and one enemy to fight. I'd get bored too if I played it too much.

Well at least that random unlock system makes the rare weapons uncommon and desired. If you had the option to buy the most powerful weapon for 500,000$, many people would just keep using their starting weapons and save up until they can buy that particular weapon. Buying anything between these things would just be a waste of $.

I actually don't believe too many people would do that. I remember in Halo Reach, everyone spent stuff from the getgo to get new armor, and I saved up and got a lot of cool armor that not too many people have. However, there should at least be some discrepency between chracters, weapons, and equipment, and not make it a lottery with no logic.

Ex. If you want an Assault Rifle or Shotgun you would buy the Assault Pack or The Deadshot Pack has only sniper stuff
(I just made these up I have no idea whether or not they will be in the game but they will be more specific)

As it is, we both know you're not bored, just frustrated.
And we both know that drive to unlock that elusive item is going to compel you to continue playing regardless of your OP. Otherwise, you wouldn't bother coming to the BSN to gripe about it at all.

In halo reach, armor doesnt affect gameplay, its only for customisation. In Mass effect 1, once you bought the spectre weapons from the shop unlocked when you get the 1,000,000$ achievement, why would you use weaponsTerminus Echoes wrote...
