So this is more of a suggestion, not a complaint.
I think most snipers would agree that their worst enemy is smoke. Amiright? Seriously it kills me knowing there are so many heads to go boom nestled safely behind that cloud. *sigh*
So my suggestion is add a scope that can counter that? Soemthing like thermal, who knows. Just something that helps.
The Snipers worst enemy?

Nah its a good tactic to make sure that snipers don't have it all their own way.

While we're at it, can we make the Biotic Charge for Vanguards a one hit kill move?

Not needed, or you want 100 threads about OP snipers?

The smoke doesn't last long, so you really can just keep camping there if you want, but the entire point is that you're supposed to keep moving and outflank the enemy.

In the loading menu I saw that there is indeed a scope that can see through smoke.

You can always use cloack and get a better angle.

Great. Lots of threads about Sniper's being OP in the future. Just great.

I'm assuming it has a trade off, just like everything else

1) You want snipers to have no weaknesses?
2) Smoke bugs everyone. At least seeing a hazy image through a scope doesn't gimp your primary ability. Try playing a Krogan around 3 Centurions when you can't lock on because your Heavy Melee is geared to a hitbox that doesn't register when there's so much as a little bit of fog even if you can see your target clearly.
3) There's going to be a see-through-smoke scope in the main game. Problem solved. Refer back to 1.
4) Adapt. Try moving every once in a while, or remember that you have teammates.

And i read all of what you say and i see the points. I just think, on maps like firebase smoke kills all line of sight. So i could see it being usefull.

Smoke is actually far more trouble for the caster classes who are unable to lock on. As an engineer, I like it though, it makes it feel like the enemies are really making a coordinated assault to kill me. They launch smoke and advance behind it, nemesis snipers and turrets pin you down while Centurions advance, and Atlas mechs keep you in cover for Phantoms. It's so much better than ME2 where enemies had no team coordination. They just exited the spawn closet, took cover and shot at you.

as a sniper, i usually go behind enemy lines and snipe/flank them from behind, while my team rains death up front.

Funnily enough, I only find smoke a problem on a Vanguard.
Enemies locations can be predicted, or seen before the smoke hits, as gun character. With a sniper, shoot what you remember, with any other gun, fire in a direction and see if you get a hit marker.
Casters have a pretty easy job too, just aim right at an enemy when you fire an ability (say in this case, warp), and even when they move, warp will still follow them and hit them, as long as you were aiming at them in the first place.
It only screws on Vanguards. They don't really have time to line up a charge though smoke, they need to find people easily.

Being in scope too much and not having your teammates cover the flank.

Snipers are just fine - smoke means I get to take a break from popping heads for like 30 seconds that's all.

sad but true.
Really smoke is not much of a difficulty for the infiltrator; just move to another location. Besides they are already so op that they need some sort of annoyance.

Let's not go there yes? this matter has been discussed to death and both sides have good points, just let it rest.
Anyway, for me a scope that sees through smoke in unecessary, then again, I don't use snipers much, but smoke is pretty much the one thing that can stop snipers from breezing through everything.

i wasn't going to go further, but on the safer topic of smoke, yes, slight annoyance at best. just means you have to walk a few steps if you don't want to take a breather or get more ammo perhaps?

I always wondered about that, does the AI really ignores the player if there's a smoke screen?Bandit monkey wrote...
