I do not understand the indignation over offering additional goods/services for additional money.  I also don't understand why the DLC being available on release day is the issue.  The car I drive is a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.  It is faster and higher-performing version of a regular Mitsubishi Lancer, but also costs more.  Both Lancer editions were available on the same day when the model year came out.  Should I have chosen not to buy my car because Mitsubishi is engaging in shady business practices by offering a more full-featured version of their product for additional cost on the same day they offer the base version?  Would Mitsubishi have had to offer only the Evolution, and at the price of the base Lancer to be considered ethical by the OP?

Well I am one of the ones who bought the N7 collection and I usually buy Collectors editions for most major releases - that way I know that I'm getting value for money.

My guess is (I'm assuming) that the DLC is pertinent to the story and perhaps Bioware changed their minds and thought it better that it was released for everyone (unfortunately not for free).

I'm not overly bothered really by that decision even if I had to buy it, as I would have bought any ME DLC regardless of when it was released.

Like were they to release new ME3 DLC the week after - or say a few days after the game's release. I'd still buy it.

I want as much of the Mass Effect Experience as I can get and the more DLC they bring out the better I'd say.
ME2's DLC was great and really fleshed out the experience - and I hope they will do the same with ME3.

As for me boycotting the game, Nah! Despite my annoyance at the dumbing down of the interactivity that the player has. Boycotting never really works -- as don't petitions.

I think that the user feedback alone will probably make a more difference.
So the more you air your views the more likely they will be addressed.

At least it's already out and when you get the money you can buy it. Sure it's a bit dirty to not put it in game when they should have... (my opinion) but at least they put it out there so when people who are interested in it can buy it whenever they want rather than sitting down, thumb up their ass for it.

I don't like it, but in the long run better now than waiting 3 months for it. :3

Now, I don't have any interest in defending BioWare as I don't own stock in EA or anything.  But objectively speaking, you do know why they didn't include the DLC in the game right?  It was not ready when they released the game.  As I said the game has to be done a couple months before release.

If they waited and waited and waited to include every single piece of content they can dream up, they would never release the game.  And they have to make their release date for several reasons.

I think it's a bit unfair to say it's "dirty" to not include in the retail release content that was created after the main project was complete.   The only question here is whether or not we should have gotten the DLC for free or if it was right to have us pay for it.  And since it was not a part of the original project and it is optional, I see nothing wrong with paying for more content.  Afterall, it's simple supply and demand.  If the majority of customers feel it's a rip off and the cost is too high, the demand will be low....problem fixed.

Edit:  I do agree with you on most of your other points though and I understand where you're coming from.

Yeah I suppose you're right. I guess seeing it in the art book makes me think that they had planned it for  awhile back. Though they did have a deadline. It probably was planned for the main game and they couldn't get it in. I guess it's paying for Day 1 DLC that I mainly was ranting about.

I guess since the DLC is so important it might have been free like Zaeed was. That's my main question but I understand companies need profit so no hard feelings Bioware. I don't mind paying for it in the Collector's Edition. It's one of the main reasons I bought it(for the character and art book)

Still love ya. :P

If Mitsubishi intentionally removed a portion of the software that made the Evolution faster and higher-performing (which means both cars cost exactly the same to make), then yes Mitsubishi would be accused of dirty underhanding tactics.

The issue is not offering additional goods/services for additional money. The issue is "Buy our pie", then everyone goes pre-orders pies. EA/Bioware takes a slices out of a pie and say "this what we call a pie". if you want the additional pie slices fork over $$$. We saying, "no, we're willing to pay for a whole pie, not half a pie and then you sell us the rest of it."

Car examples again? There is an Alba hd 32 inch tv which costs 200£ and the same tv with dvd instaled in it for 249£. Yet people don't seem to complain. There are also the same cars with diferent modification. I bought a game and I'm liking it. I've been playing since friday and still on my first walktrough and extra happy.
