A krogan squadmate is a must. It isn't a Mass Effect game without one.
Bioware: No, you get Vega. SUCK IT.

There's nothing wrong with Vega. I already know I'll like him more than Grunt.MegaBadExample wrote...

Did I say there was anything wrong with him?I know I'll like him the most, because he isn't a romance option. But come on, you can't compare him to a krogan. And Vega is obviously taking the tank spot this time around.

DLC characters never evolve the same way full game characters do.

Not that quantity in this case is important at all to me, since each individual squaddie gets a bit more power than the ones in ME2, and you can customize their weapon loadouts to your heart's content. That makes it all a bit less braindead than ME2's system was, wouldn't you say?

Let me rephrase:
DLC characters never evolve the same way full game characters do in ME.
In which case, Kasumi and Zaeed say hi.

We only really have one game with which to judge that, so I'm optimistic on this point.

Too many humans for my taste.
Very much agreed.
Although, amusingly, now that I think of it, there are only two. I guess I just find the human ME characters that uninteresting. Also, Vega looks terribly boring to me.
