Does anyone know how open ended this game will be. For me its my most anticipated game of the year, but I'm hoping it isn't as confined mass effect (while mass effects story was good, being confined just depressed me" From what I have seen its looked pretty open ended so the prospects look bright.

It looks pretty similar to Mass Effect to me in terms of geographical openess.

Better than Mass Effect's big emptiness, but if you're expecting something like Oblivion or Fallout , prepare to be disappointed. If you've ever played Baldur's gate 2, it's probably going to be similar.

Im imagining Fable 2 environments with less linear narrow paths, at least for the outdoor areas. But thats just me, although I doubt im too far off.

The game itself is pretty linear, especially outdoor environments. However it certain towers or buildings there are different ways you can go, different ways to get lost etc. It will be a little like fable, yes.

I would say it's probably going to be similar to other Bioware titles. Where you go is somewhat linear, however you can explore said areas to an extent, if that makes sense.

Don't expect a sandbox like Oblivion, but I wouldn't expect something as linear as Fable either.

Happy medium.

It hard to tell a compelling story and keep the flow going with Sandbox type games like Oblivion. There are just too many distractions. (which is a good thing!) I'm pretty sure I'm going to love this game.

I'm not a one type RPG type of guy. I like the Baldur Gate series, tactics type games, turn based, active combat based, open exploration, Linear (JRPG), first person, party based. Etc.

Some might be disappointed with this type of game if they are expecting oblivion. But you shouldn't honestly. You should enjoy the experience this game will bring.
