silver can be hit or miss, on average in my experience players are better on silver than bronze
haven't bothered with gold much, will probably wait for retail to really dig into that

I agree with you except for the part where you included vanguards. Vanguards are suppose to lure the enemy away from the team while you (the team) flank them or get objectives done.
Thats fine because thats how a vangard is supposed to play, the people im talking about are the ones who charge into 10 enemies and just try to melee as many as possible before getting killed, then turn around yelling how someone needs to revive them or they are going to quit. I am by no means an amazing player but i can handle my own and if i have to solo through the end of a wave, but at the same time i am a team player, if i see my team has the high traffic areas locked down i dont try to grab as many kills as i can from them, i turn around and watch the low traffic door for that stray phantom or guardian who sneaks up when you arent looking or pick up people who are getting to close. I dont understand why someone would rather get and extra 1000 points in kills over getting the bonus for full extraction? Like i said i blame MW and other FPS that you get infinate lives on and the people playing right now are more concerned with K/D which doesnt even matter over finishing the game.
The Vanguard uses Charge to STAY ALIVE, any decent vanguard out there can go through a silver match charging like crazy without dying once. They are meant to flank the enemy, and kill whole groups of them. Don't blame the class as a whole for someone's foolishness.
Not blaming the whole class only the ones who have no idea how to play, a good vangard can be a huge difference maker, a bad one can be a huge liabilty.

Then we agree completely on this matter. It is sad to see how many people try and fail terribly at playing with a Vanguard.

I can't vanguard at all. All 10 of my vanguard levels are from vet pack unlocks. I don't know why I suck so hard when I try vanguard, but I couldn't play it in ME2 either.

I consider myself a decent vanguard, as my lack of patience makes it too easy for turrets to kill me. Still, you should use just one weapon, be it a shotgun, AR, or pistol (I prefer pistols), scout an area for cover and other enemies before charging (the part I'm no good at.), after you charge, use Nova, and repeat. Don't charge at turrets or Atlas's unless he is almost dead. At last, you need to understand that you will die a lot while you're learning, the smallest of mistakes will kill you, but you are going to kill many, many enemies, especially the Assault Troopers (the ones without any additional protections).

Don't charge at Atlas? Blasphemy! A good Vanguard can take down an Atlas no problem with Charge + Nova spamming. I'd know, I've done it a ton. On Bronze you shouldn't really need to waste Launchers for Atlas with a good Vanguard. I haven't taken the risk on Silver yet, though. I've noticed Atlas like to spawn near each other in it. The only thing you have to really watch out for is an Atlas' grab kill - when you're charging, that's the only thing that should be able to kill you .

So did I. But beginners on the class will end up dying.
It can be done on silver as well, as long as you roll back as soon as the Nova animation finishes you're set.

I can solo silver with both sentinels and engineers anyway (and asari adept, but that's like playing on easy mode), so I'll leave vanguard to better players or wait until ME3 final relase so I can learn how to play properly in SP, don't want to ruin people's runs and my housemates don't have the paitence for me to slowly learn a class.

Just try it out like I said on bronze a few times, it might get addicting... :innocent:

Oh, yeah. True enough with beginners, then. But man, once you have Charge + Nova maxed out it's a blast.
Yep. Makes both Atlas' and Phantoms look like little childs!

I haven't actually seen too many vanguards...that do vanguard things. They run around like infiltrators and rarely if ever use charge. I don't even know why they bother going vanguard. Then you have the other types of vanguards that only seem to know how to spam nova...and die a lot.

I have gotten some low level group through silver but the problem I see most often is lack of group balance. There are way too many sniper types and not enough soldiers around....unless i'm lucky enough to get stuck with a good Krogan player. I've been stuck in groups with all biotics, all snipers...and me being the only frontline fighter, not too fun usually.

I did not see many soldiers as well, the ones I did however were damn good ones. Quality over quantity I guess.
Good vanguards are rare to see. I almost cry everytime I see a Vanguard with a Sniper Rifle, it defeats the whole purpose of the class. <_<

Aggravating. THAT would encourage cooperation, jeez.
Edit: Add On
I have a Lv 15 Soldier. I've been messing with each class out of order, just seeing what I can do with what. I spam the Pull ability with a Drell Vanguard. Engineer is very nice for just picking someone apart period. Messing with Infiltrator now. Never hurts to be able to put on any type of glove.

One thing that irritates me to death are people who just run off and do whatever while you're hacking a console, activating something, etc by yourself, trying not to get killed to death, and they still get cash for it. I say if they aren't in the damn circle, they shouldn't get any of it. Or its on a per [time thing] basis. 5000 credits and they weren't there helping for most of it? Less than half.

Had that problem. Had to do all the hacking objectives on silver solo with a nice soldier giving me some cover fire. What's wrong with that you might ask? We were playing with two infiltrators...

This plus one - I'm not the best player (have yet to stray from bronze, too scared), but there should be some serious incentive for the people who keep with the objectives. I can't tell you how many times I've been the only one to go disable/enable/hack something, and then get NOTHING for it, other then gettting stabbed in the back by a phantom. I will at least try to COVER the person hacking, not run off and try to kill as many enemies as possible.

Thank you, why cant others be reasonable like this. I understand learning but do it in a private match and practice where you arent messing up someone who is trying to complete. I have a busy scedule so i only get to play a few games a day since they take so long for a match, between trying to find a match on clogged servers and people who dont know how to play it kills it for me wasting my only game time trying to carry a team of horrible players. Well i cant say the whole team usually i have one other player who knows what to do and im sure they are just as frustrated.

Oh god thats my other pet peeve, the faster hacking gets done the more money you get. I usually dash to the objective with one or two others and hold it down while the third person just sits in their usual spot and rack up kills, or when they all come to the hack circle and then stand just outside the blue the entire time sniping out the window

Same thing with the 4 activations they all try to activate while someone is already doing it thinking they will get points for it, which ive never noticed if you do or not, but then if someone starts shooting rather then defend they continue with activation it doesnt move any faster with 2 people just defend the first person there its not that dificult.
Does it really happen that often? I've been playing MP for 3 days and I've seen people do that once or twice.

1) Charge -> Nova, if there's tons of enemies, roll and then charge again which should take about 1 second
2) Carry a Carnifex. 1 headshot to most enemies clean them up, works wonders when it's too dangerous to charge in
3) When a teammate goes down, charge enemy that's going for a stomp and ruin their life, then save said teammate
4) profit?
