Aggravating. THAT would encourage cooperation, jeez.

Oh god thats my other pet peeve, the faster hacking gets done the more money you get. I usually dash to the objective with one or two others and hold it down while the third person just sits in their usual spot and rack up kills, or when they all come to the hack circle and then stand just outside the blue the entire time sniping out the window  whats the point of coming at all? Same thing with the 4 activations they all try to activate while someone is already doing it thinking they will get points for it, which ive never noticed if you do or not, but then if someone starts shooting rather then defend they continue with activation it doesnt move any faster with 2 people just defend the first person there its not that dificult.

Does it really happen that often? I've been playing MP for 3 days and I've seen people do that once or twice.

Yes, without exageration 1 in 3 matches has someone who sits just outside the blue and snipes from a window with a better vantage point then those inside the blue. I blame it on the fact that half the people i get in matches with use sniper rifles no matter what their class and they just scope on the waves while getting shot from behind and not even notice or care they just expect someone to take care of it while they go for headshot gold. Its really funny when i get more kills/headshots then them using just a scoped pistol which takes 2 heaadshots for a kill and takes half the time to line up with 12 shots to a clip instead of 1.

Sniper rifles are for heavy enemies, people need to learn when to use them if they're not either and outstanding shot or an infiltrator. Heatshot phantoms, countersnipe nemesis and conter guardians if there's not suitable biotic removing their shields.

Aiming at the face with a mattock or avenger will normally get the heatshot gold medal during the course of a match anyway.

In bronze though you might as well carry two weapons and use biotics/tech then try and get all the gold medals!

Engineers can do the same thing that a vanguard can with their drones (if they have them).  If they have turrets however they allow for precise team flanking; allowing anyone to effectively flank a major group of enemies quickly.  I used to get upset about overly aggressive vanguards, until I realized how to utilize their aggressive playstyle into a productive means of combat.

I figure, it's not worth the time to get upset that other players don't know how to play the game and make simple mistakes.  It is after all just a game.  Everyone had to learn how to play at one point, so just be accepting of differences.

I have friends who argue over kills. I get yelled at for assisting my friend. "You stole my kill." he says. No, I helped you, we're a ****ing team.

Sometimes it's actually good to not have everyone hacking or defending the activation macguffin. A friend of mine spent an entire level 10 hacking wave on the other side of the map on silver, drawing the fire of pretty much every single enemy.

Survived too. We finished the hack and immediatly moved to pull the pressure off him and clean-up.

Every game ive played the last 2 days there are at least 2 idiots who think they are playing MW3. We are all on the same team the point is not lets run out into the middle of the field and get as many kills as possible before I die.

Eh?  I've had very few people quit games I'm in when I either fail to revive them in time, or refuse to waste time reviving someone who isn't going to back me up.  There have been times when I have had to solo the last half of the last four waves in a game (silver difficulty).

My best advice is lead by example. If they're dead, play like a pro and they'll realize being alive and playing your way is a lot better than being dead and watching you play.  Only an idiot takes insane risks for a few extra points in a game given the fact that final exp is based on the entire team's performance rather than just a player's kill count.

I was pretty damn nervous about trying MP as I've never played before and didn't have a clue what it was I was meant to do (stick close to your team, go out on your own, help take down enemies or leave them them for whoever started the attack?). I was expecting to be booted a LOT in the beginning and was fairly cautious of people who have no time for newbies. Luckily everyone I've encountered has been pretty damn helpful (not text/voice chat, though, so who knows really).
I'm definitely better than I was, and getting a handle on what's expected. I work under the idea that we're a team, and as long as the enemy gets taken down it shouldn't matter who gets the job done. That being said I'm sticking to bronze until I get better (tried vanguard once and just felt like an ass for my team- think I died about 5 times.... never again, I'll stick to my soldier and sentinel) because I don't really think it's fair to make those in the higher levels suffer through my learning period.
I'm hoping it stays as friendly as it's been after March 6, though. I would love to keep playing the MP, but don't think I could handle people being dicks about us "newbies".

Good observations.  It drives me nuts seeing people running around with sniper rifles because they can't figure out the proper use of the other weapons.  I've seen folks playing every class (silver difficulty) carrying sniper rifles and I've seen some do extremely well but most are pretty terrible.

A team full of sniper rifles on silver and gold difficulty is extremely vulnerable to swarming basic assault troops.  If a player wants to focus on head shots I think a Carnifex is the best gun in the game for doing that, but the mattock is also quite effective.

On the Hacking mission where you hold down the area for like 4-5 minutes. My whole team got downed no one revived anyone. I had to run to activate the hacking progress With like 3 turrets surrounding me, Phantoms and an Atlus coming at me I managed to survive by myself for for almost the entire duration till finally getting downed with 25 seconds left.

Im sure they felt stupid being forced in idle to watch me hold it down solo for almost the entire time..

Its definitely risky playing with randoms although buddy and I met dude on XBL last night whos ****ing awesome and we played through silver and gold together the 3 of us doing work.

This sounds so very familiar. I wonder why? Oh thats right it happened to me yesterday. I activated the console and instead of coming to help download the data my "teammates", and I use that term loosely, ran around trying to kill stuff and wound up getting themselves killed.

That happened to me too. Seriously don't they read the stat message and notice uploading stuff is faster when there's more people in the hack zone?

And I just got yelled at and called 'useless' by some guy because I stasis-bubble a lot instead of shooting and that I don't do anything that's why I have the low points. He forgot the number of times I saved his ass when he was so busy emptying an entire round on one assault trooper while enemies are coming at us from all sides. The same guy who also thought gun-bashing/melee'ing a phantom was a good idea. He died several times so I started following him and then he complained of getting his kills stolen.

And this is on bronze. (I wouldn't dare Silver until I get a proper build). I'm not gonna say I'm a good player or that I'm the best in the team, but I try to do my job the best I can.

First I'm not really decent player. From my observation, one thing people always forget in this game is 'CO-OP'.
Don't rushing to middle of the field and get killed then complained about no one revive you.
Don't revive someone taken down by turret, an entire team got killed this way.
Support classes are helpful - distracting and weaken enemy. don't under estimated them.
In 4 player team, divide in to 2 team of 2 player to cover all spawn points.
Flanking is gold.
Use AOE first, when the enemies grouped together. I make one killstreak by frag granade them at spawn point.
Leave Atlas for the last.
Beware of phantoms, they actually stab you from behind. Have your mates watch your back.
Saved your rocket for the last wave.
DO NOT stay at LZ point until the last 20 - 30 sec in firebase ghost map. There's not enough cover and it's lower ground-cover is not effective.

To help encourage players they should count deaths on the scoreboard and you lose points for each death.

Only applies to Silver and Gold, 300 per death in silver and 600 for gold.

Seeing a score column saying: Deaths -3000 (10 deaths) might get people playing a little more sensibly.

Enough that I felt I had to point it out. I mean, come on. You work together, you're gonna make it. You're off trying to take everything out solo, your chances of making it go down.

The longest run I had solo was on Bronze  to Wave 5 before I got overwhelmed. That was an Engineer I think...it may have been the Drell Vanguard. Not sure now.

Up reference.

It can get a little annoying when people just charge on in thinking they're hard stuff only to die seconds later. I like cloak reviving people, but when I'm doing it for the same person constantly it just gets painful to do. I'll still keep reviving them though, because I suppose they at least distract the enemy horde for a little while before dying again getting the team easy kills in.

No i havnt used a sniper rifle in this game because honestly i find the pistol more effective and versitle, and if there is quickscoping then the people ive seen trying to do it are doing it wrong.  I just had a match with someone who went down about 6 times and was bragging about how he had the most kills and how i should play more like him, after the match he was real upset when i had more points not because i had the most kills because i didnt but i got more because i got 4 medals for 20 headshots 25 pistol kills 25 assault rifle kills 10 melee kills while he got medals for 75 kills and 10 headshots.

I was just about to post a similar topic. Too many are playing the multiplayer as a competition against their squadmates. Then they get in over their head in the higher levels and get knocked out waiting for someone to go revive them. Of course the game itself is partially to blame as it rewards stat-wh*res with the most XP and money. There must be a better reward system that deters killboard junkies and slackers the same.

I completely agree with this. My best experiences are with other players who try to complement each other as a team. I feel encouraged to care about them more and stick as close as I can. That said, I'm not an expert player--not by a long shot. And, intially, I was a noob who cared about getting the most kills and ran off on his own. It's embarassing to have to be revived constantly and it helps no one. Anymore, I don't care who gets the kill, so long as we're keeping each other alive, meeting objectives, and enemies are taken down.

Also, I try to not use any classes or weapons I know I'm not good at or haven't practiced with before. Like trying a private, solo run. Even if I don't beat the run, I still learn from the experience and familiarize myself with a class' powers. Plus, I can try different weapons or weapon combinations to discover what works. All without being a liability in anyone else's game.

Is there anything to turn off the scope of a non-sniper rifle modded weapon? For just medium-ish/close range combat? I clicked the right thumbstick and nothing happened, so I didn't know if that was by design that its stuck in scoped view or what.

Engineer can give you a good solo run. Their little Combat Drone can distract them sometimes (and open Guardians too of course). Plus you can pick apart Shields/Barriers and Armor.

Anyhow, I'm going to put my new Gamertag up early next month if anyone wants to play coop around the 12th-18th (I have to playthrough by myself first, unless there is a non-story multiplayer you can do).

It can be weird people going in like that I had one bronze run I took m Adept who was level 1. Most of the higher levels were all falling down it was me who had to pick them all up and I had the worst shields, health and only 1 power at the time!

I can't vanguard at all. All 10 of my vanguard levels are from vet pack unlocks. I don't know why I suck so hard when I try vanguard, but I couldn't play it in ME2 either.

Vanguard takes a special kind of crazy to play well.  If you're a vanguard, your first instinct simply has to be "Oh, an enemy.  CHARGE!"  The self restraint to asses the situation before you hit that button is something you have to force on yourself.

I consider myself a decent vanguard, as my lack of patience makes it too easy for turrets to kill me. Still, you should use just one weapon, be it a shotgun, AR, or pistol (I prefer pistols), scout an area for cover and other enemies before charging (the part I'm no good at.), after you charge, use Nova, and repeat. Don't charge at turrets or Atlas's unless he is almost dead. At last, you need to understand that you will die a lot while you're learning, the smallest of mistakes will kill you, but you are going to kill many, many enemies, especially the Assault Troopers (the ones without any additional protections).

Don't charge at Atlas? Blasphemy! A good Vanguard can take down an Atlas no problem with Charge + Nova spamming. I'd know, I've done it a ton. On Bronze you shouldn't really need to waste Launchers for Atlas with a good Vanguard. I haven't taken the risk on Silver yet, though. I've noticed Atlas like to spawn near each other in it. The only thing you have to really watch out for is an Atlas' grab kill - when you're charging, that's the only thing that should be able to kill you .

I'm kind of curious to see if it's possible to Charge Tank a *pair* of Atlas mechs on Silver.  Haven't been brave enough to try it yet.

Ok I just played my7 first match of the day, the game put me into a match in progress and i started out at the 7th wave and had to solo that from about 10seconds in. Then in round 9 once again had to finish out soloing and i thought ok these guys must be new, well after the extraction somehow i was first place (starting in round 7 mind you) the entire team was all engineer's except me and they wernt new they were all 20 or above. They need to rethink the N7 rank or how points are given out because none of these people deserved to be over level 10 they must just piggyback off of 1 decent player in their game because i believe it was a party of the 3 because they all had exact same colors and gear load outs, i swear it was like 3 engineer twins.
