Just to state: I really hate the random unlocks, but thats not the point of this post.

its really quite simple:

- In the full version keep the random boxes that you have in the demo.
- Add a new box that lets you pick a character that you want to unlock (for 50,000 credits lets say)

this lets both sides of the argument get what they want.

this solution should have something to satisfy everyone

I think 100,00 credits would be better.

Perfect. No "me wants it, do it", you were polite and provided a good fix to your problem. That's how it should be done. ^_^

I still prefer my idea of not giving out cards for stuff at maximum (like for weapons, if i got any weapon and cluss full, just hand me something else, thanks)

I see this as a problem especially with more expensive packs in the full version, as you might save up credits for 2-3 matches and then alll you get is a stinking character card for your fully customized and leveled character

*edit* this way it would be assured that sooner or later, youd have everything, just requiring grinding more, but it does not put you through as much a hassle as hoping for a gun or class and be annoyed at the xth useless crap

(btw sry i am quite in rage, at both this and morons, i dont mind newbs, but theres too many morons right now)

Or we could just leave it how it is now.

It's fine.

Get the idea of instant gratification out of your heads and start realizing that if you want something, you'll have to work for it. Sometimes, you don't get what you want. In the end, it all pays off.

Working towards a goal is lost when you spend your time you can game save up and then just get for days on stuff you already have maxxed out

Go screw yourself. Not every single player has the luxury of time here. Crap like this is why I hate MP in general.

Some people are casual players and don't have the time to unlock everything.  Besides, the "It's fine" statement really annoyes me when so many people dissagree.  If this option were allowed, I'd only use it once to get a class I'd like to play in order to get the currency to unlock more random packs.

Exactly. The OP is asking for an option. If you don't want it don't use it, but don't assume that just because you're fine with it everybody else is.

No, it is not fine.

I have an N57 rank, and fully maxed out Infiltrator, yet I have only a handful of sniper rifle upgrades and ONE unlocked character...ONE!!

How is that working 'fine?'

I do like the random loot items, keeps things from getting stale, but for goodness sake, the amount of time it takes to unlock characters, and the 'hope' mechanic for actually getting an unlock character I would actually like is just silly.

or here is something that I heard on the fourms earlier

you have the reg characters unlocked off the start and the initial "free box" that you get you get to pick a single character of your choice. 1 time use.

then you keep all the random boxes

not as good for the people who dont like random but still more fair than it is now

Your first suggestion in this thread is the best imo. It gives an option to those who want to unlock the characters they want whenever they want, and those who prefer the randomness continue getting the same packs as they are now.

For me, this would actually be the best.

I wouldn't mind the "grind" for any new races, classes, genders, customizations or weapons etc if I could just do it with a character that I love playing. The purpose of multiplayer should be the fun of the game itself, anyways, not to get addicted to grinding credits to (possibly!) unlock exciting stuff. As soon as this happens, the game turns into a job. Just look at various MMO forums and see what kind of behaviour this approach is breeding.

And I like how the apologists actually betray this concept themselves when they talk about how people should just "work" for whatever they want. I do enough work in the office. When I get home I'd just like to play for an hour without being tempted to keep an eye on some xp or credit counter.

Tl;dr: the current system detracts from the actual fun of simply shooting up things and completing objectives as a team - whenever you open yet another 20k pack with nothing interesting inside, you get the impression that the past one or two games were for naught, and this shouldn't be.

Finally someone on here that doesn't like the current unlock system but is polite and comes up witha reasonable solution that would make both sides happy. I actually think that this could work and fingers crossed will be implemented into the full game, or at least something else that makes the random unlocks more likely to unlock a specific thing such as a character.

Note: I am completely happy with the current unlock system. In my oppinion it is exactly what these immature, impatient young kids need. A lesson in the importance of patience.

Another idea would be to actually hand out items which can be used to get the character instead of the characters directly. Then add the possibility to exchange lets say 2 of those for one of the same grade or 4 to get one of a better grade.
Furthermore characters you already have maxed (exp and cosmetic) count for two.

Heh weird. I basically left this same idea in the MP feedback thread just a few minutes ago. I even suggested it cost 50-100k. I did add in the rare weapons to the mix though. Meaning you'd open up either a rare race/class combo or a rare weapon with the higher cost pack.

Agree completely, I think it should be more points then you can get from 2 games on silver though. Make it 100-300k.
This way, you'll have to beat about 3-9 games on silver, that's 1-3 hours of playing (waiting times excluded).

It would still be a good amount of work, and make you feel like you earned your character. At the same time it wouldn't be too easy.

I have already unlocked every gun type and every race available in the demo but the Krogan. Admittedly, I've played a lot since this went live a week ago. But think about that, in just a week. Using that as a comparison moderate play will probably have most everything after a month. That's not long for an MP mode.

Still I wouldn't mind seeing a way to save up credits for something specific implemented either.

Personally, I would be happy if they replaced the specific race unlocks with "race unlock card" that allows you to unlock the specific race of your choice. It's still a rare item that you don't get often, but at least I wouldn't end up getting 4 Krogan soldiers with the Quarian engineer evading my grasp. (I want those freaking turrets dangit!)

I find it pretty awful. I was hoping this was just a "for now" system for the demo. For it to be in the final version kinda sucks.

I mean...I get the impression multiplayer was kinda "tacked" on anyway, but removing things that create problems (like character cards for things you've maxed) would help a lot.
