 Hi.

I have modified my Coalesced.bin file to let me set my own FoV, ranging from 70 up to 110.
The numpads are used in-game to change it. 70 is the default FoV.

Code added to 06_bioinput.json...

"( Name=\\"NumPadOne\\", Command=\\"FOV 70\\" )",
"( Name=\\"NumPadTwo\\", Command=\\"FOV 75\\" )",
"( Name=\\"NumPadThree\\", Command=\\"FOV 80\\" )",
"( Name=\\"NumPadFour\\", Command=\\"FOV 85\\" )",
"( Name=\\"NumPadFive\\", Command=\\"FOV 90\\" )",
"( Name=\\"NumPadSix\\", Command=\\"FOV 95\\" )",
"( Name=\\"NumPadSeven\\", Command=\\"FOV 100\\" )",
"( Name=\\"NumPadEight\\", Command=\\"FOV 105\\" )",
"( Name=\\"NumPadNine\\", Command=\\"FOV 110\\" )",
"( Name=\\"NumPadZero\\", Command=\\"FOV 30\\" )",

Note: Changing the FoV in-game will mess up the camera during conversations!

1.

Download my modified Coalsced.bin from http://www.mediafire...z0fuo4hcohrd0ld

2.

Browse to your CookedPCConsole directory, found by default in either:
C:\\Program Files\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3 Demo\\BIOGame\\CookedPCConsole

Or if you've got a 64 bit version of Windows
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3 Demo\\BIOGame\\CookedPCConsole

3.

Overwrite the already existing Coalesced.bin with my modified one.

4.

Enjoy.

game would look perfect at probably 100 FOV, and also a bit higher up (if thats possible?)

FOV 90 looks comparable to the usual Gears setup.

But how does it look while storming? Since it zooms out for that.

Could we get a look at how the modified FOV messes up cutscenes? Is it very bad?

You get to see a lot of things you shouldn't if you got a high FoV. Basically you get to see where Bioware cut corners.

Which is why I bound 20 FoV to NumPadZero.
While it helps, some things still appear odd as things end up off-screen instead

I find how the game handles the camera during cutscenes quite odd.

The camera zooms out less while storming, but it's a non-issue unless you decide to set the FoV to 70 or lower.

70 is actual FoV?
Yurk!
At least ME3 gives the end of the story...

I am bookmarking this topic for now. I assume people might have to remake this file for the actual game since it might be hard to tell if any changes were made last minute after the demo build.

I would hope that Bioware would release a patch with some FOV options that only affect the gameplay segments. I also want to see if altering this file is going to violate some 'anti-cheating' policy and start getting people in trouble.

Thank you for working on this though. It maybe the only hope for some of us to enjoy the game if all else fails.

Updated OP.

Changed NumPadZero.
It will set the FoV to 30 instead now.
Found this to be the optimal FoV in conversations.

Hi i was wondering how to change the keys that are used to change FOV, just because i use the 0 and 1 key. (I use the directional arrows not WASD) :)

nice work, but I still preffer the way Bioware itself will provide this option
Bioware, please, take a look at my sad eyes, give us option to change FOV.. $o)

afaik: You should bind it to FOV to 0, thats the default value and will display the cutscenes and other stuff like the vanilla game.

Errr.... No. Do not overwrite the existing coalesced.bin. Rename it to something like coalesced.bin.BAK
That way you can change back if you need to for what ever reason. Overwriting files is bad juju and should be avoided unless you are certain you will never need the original vanilla file again.

Haha so that's the real reason why they didn't want to put larger FOV in the game. Because the game show them cutting corners for the console version. And as as we all know PC version is only a conversion from consol version :/

IMO Games should be made for PC in mind and then downgraded to consoles. Because then everyone get the best that he can get on respective platform ( It easier to cut things or downgrade texture then other way around) IMO

FOV 70 looks the best and most realistic. Everything higher looks warped, as if you're looking through a fish-eye lens.

I'd probably get a headache from anything higher than FOV 70.

Because your looking at a small screenshot instead of looking at it propperly on a wideformat large display at the proper distance.

Your also likely used to FOV 70 somewhat too.

People that are used to for example 110 fov on large format/resolution screens would feel closterphobic on 70 fov.

That same FOV if you were sitting in front of a 30" at 3 feet would be completely different.

Well it's true that a larger FOV looks better on a large monitor, but usually a FOV of 90 is already enough to compensate for the size of your screen.

I wonder how a FOV of 80 would look like in ME3. I think it would look pretty good. But a FOV of 90 or higher clearly looks wrong. The fish-eye effects becomes to great and to easily noticable on those settings.

Can someone try a FOV of 80 and post a screenshot of that (not scaled, but an actual high-res screenshot)? I don't have the PC version of the ME3 demo so I can't try it myself.

 90 FoV

I found 100 FoV to work best though.

End of line.

FOV 90 actually looks acceptable and good when watching it full-screen on my 27inch monitor.

Yeah, FOV 90 is okay. How about FOV 80? I believe a FOV of 80 is the standard in most shooters. I think Gears of War also had a FOV of 80.

FOV 90 looks great on my 24" monitor during gameplay, and feels a lot less claustrophobic than the default.

However, changing the FOV with these commands seems to mess with scope zoom - namely, the scope doesn't zoom properly any longer.

At least that scene would be a lot less intimidating if you knew those three weren't really sitting on chairs.

+1 for an option of FOV adjustment (camera positioning would be nice too)
